Well done England ...

My ten pennorth.

I have said in the past on here, and I stand by it, that I just don't "feel" it nationally like I used to. But what I will say is this, England have done really well so far. A manager that many of us (including me) saw as a safe, underwhelming choice, has got the team to gel and build momentum.

The Ikea knobheads, and the ambulance smashers are utterly shameful. But the fact the World Cup is on, is just a flag of convenience to these fuckers, they'd look for any excuse to kick off. Better I think, to focus on the majority, focus on the feelgood factor that us doing well gives. In a world that is heading to Hell in a handcart, where shit happens every day, where's the harm in embracing a crumb of good news? The World Cup will soon be over, and it will be situation normal as we lurch on to the latest crisis.
I doff my cap sir.

I hope the fucker worked?:)

No tell me it can't be true! Ooh that will also hurt some so much.
Milwall fans set up crowd funding to repair the paramedic car damaged.
No praise allowed at all on here for any football fans from England.

England football team uniting the country like no politician ever could.

St George flags flying in the most multicultural parts of Sheffield.

I love being English.

What a country.

This new younger side seems a lot more likeable than the 'old guard' rubbish what seemed like it picked itself for years!

Only ever been to watch u21's as since early 2000's ive never really been that fussed for even watching the national side on tv unless its a decent competition.

Even if we bob out in semi's its been a good world cup, brought the country together a bit.. if we win on wednesday though sundays gonna be barmy all oar!

Just like I see it Mr Crab.
Embrace the good things in sport If England’s sportspeople are doing well I’m with them.

Really!
No you are not glad everyone is enjoying it. Because it contrasts too much with your stance. So much so that you have to keep coming back to this thread and clearly cannot get on with your own life because of it.

Indifferent. Bollocks. You'd love England to lose and if they do in the semi it will give you great internal pleasure.

In the meantime. Moscow to bed. Working later;)

"STOP NOT LIKING WHAT I LIKE"

You should change your name to Boo Hoo.

I’m afraid only complete wankers hang flags of any sort from their houses or cars. It makes me cringe.

You'd love Qatar. This is National Day, you literally cannot move for flags and Emir banners.

All year round every Qatari has a 20 foot flag outside their house (mansion). I don't think this is in the slightest bit racist, why are England flags seen as such?

Where did you get that picture of me?
Now my Mum was Irish and she loved her country but she became an England fan when some tossers from the Irish Republic started abusing me for wearing an England shirt. I know you did not get it from her.

The arrogance of these cunts...

Can't handle booze so they couldn't wait for a goal to get rid of the full pint they'd been nursing for the last hour. This is the kind of celebration that boils my piss. No need to pretend you're in the mosh pit of a 1977 punk gig just because England score.

Can't remember which poster it is but one of ours used to be an ex chesterfield season ticket holder. He turned his back on them due to many of their fans being dickheads. Done a quick search and can't find the thread or member.

Having gone to school with a load of Chesterfield season ticket holders I understand his point.

I'll salute a measured reply like that one. Good stuff.
But, I'll pose a question/make a point. Have you had first hand experience of the attitudes of the England followers who actually travel long distances to tournaments? Or, are you really talking about the attitudes of stay at home, get pissed in the pub, thousands of miles from the turnstiles, there's a row on, I'm jumping in followers?
Until I'm blue in the face, I'm trying to expose there is a BIG difference.
Good post though mate.

It's the same with England as it is with the Blades. Go to Tbilisi on a Tuesday night in December for a qualifier and you will meet a different breed of people than if you go to Glasgow for a weekend friendly in September. With the Blades if you go to a local-ish away match where we take 2k plus fans you'll see different behaviour from some than if you go to Plymouth away on a Tuesday night.

The proximity of the France Euros really didn't help England and the perception of their fans, it's easy to go across to France for a few beers and a fight, similar to Germany in 2006. There hasn't been as much reported trouble in Brazil, South Africa or Russia as it's been largely the people who make the effort to watch the match.

Is that really so different to our celebrations when we went up? Personally, I hate getting covered in beer and I’m glad I wasn’t there but what harm are they doing?

Any ' ethnic ' links between the Germans and Croats are at the very best tenuous.

The very well established links between Nazi Germany and the Croats were more related to the Ustashas incredibly barbaric willingness to aid and abet Good old Adolphs final solution .

And make no mistake about it, the Ustashas particularly vile fascist, religious and nationalistic leanings led them to commit the horrific slaughter of all those who the Croats saw as an impediment to the creation of an Independent Croatian State .

Edit : I'm replying to you in this thread assuming you are fully aware of who the Croatian Ustasha were and of their rightful place in the darkest annals of human history . If you don't then please accept my apologies but I'd urge you to research the subject .
i’d urge you to do some research too .. the Croats are ethnic Swabians

It's all contrived, that's my issue. Can you tell me that if they were sat on their sofa at home watching the match with a pint in hand the first thing they would do when a goal is scored is to launch the beer in the air and then pogo around the living room and bang into their dog/wife/cat? No, so why do it in public.

Spraying beer and champagne is a celebration and is not done in the moment, this is not what I'm questioning. I'm questioning those whose contrived reaction is to act a twat.

I watched the game with my mate and he launched a few things when we scored, including the remote (changing channels in the process, the tit). I remember seeing footage of Blades in one of the bigger pubs (can’t remember which) and it was exactly the same, I believe they also smashed a couple of mirrors in the pub. I danced round my flat when Duffy scored. Don’t you think you’re a bit young to be a curmudgeon?

I'm a miserable bastard at the best of times. I just think that a lot of the reaction is for show, I can understand it if you're in a ground and jump up and down a bit then do a wanker sign or stick two fingers up at the opponents. In a pub or a public place it baffles me. At home even more, if you were sat watching the match on your own with no one else around, how would you react? I might jump up from the sofa, shout "get in" and then smile for a while.

Throwing beer in any situation is a stupid thing to do.

Some are, they migrated in the 1700s. Croats in the main are considered ‘Slavic’.

I'm afraid it's another victim of the zeitgeist. Of course it's contrived, it's done to be filmed, it's acting to cue. Everyone wants their 5 minutes of YouTube/Twitter fame. LAOS is the new football tag, you have to be filmed going mental chucking beer, sauce, flares, grannies whatever. The madness of your celebration is the new fan rating for any club/country. It's bonkers and not particularly clever, one girl this weekend was scarred for life and needs skin grafting after bottles were chucked as part of this 'LAOS' madness, then we had an Ikea trashed and an ambulance wrecked. All filmed, so hopefully idiots will face the consequences, hoist by their own petard.

I got covered in ale when the second went in, I didn’t give a fuck at the time though and I’d dried of in 20 mins. :)

The Croat Ustasha maintain they are actually East Germanic Goths and this heritage go's back to 750 BC . You've read they are ethnically Swabians ...... and on it go's.

That's why I stated any ethnic links you me or anyone else claims are at best tenuous and depend upon who it is that's making the claim .

What's absolutely irrefutable though is the fact the the links between Nazi Germany and the Croats during the 2nd World War were predicated upon by the far right fascist
ideology they shared .

I don’t want to hijack a football thread discussing Balkan politics.

I'm sure that Pinchy will have a view about Archduke Ferdinand's favourite flag. We may also discover that Gavrillo Princip was probably an Ingerland fan and closet EDL racist.

Actually it could be really interesting.

But then again.......

Social Media is the reason ppl do it - pure and simple. Where you watch the game is more than likely being videoed and for your venue to be featured because it has the most ‘limbs’ or ‘scenes’ or beer thrown in the air means you’ve topped the lot. Simple.

Let em celebrate. Do you actually give a shit?

Just seen this. Basically what I was trying to say. Didn’t know about the young girl.
