Just in McCabe and the prince have announced Wilders cut from the Brooks deal:

Personally I'm not too fussed about us blowing a load of money in this transfer window. If CW can't find the right players at the right price then it is only right that he should hold back, and save his pennies for another day (or transfer window in this case).

My point was that whatever transfer fees have been brought in since the Board promised CW a budget amount, should all be in addition to the original agreed pot of money. If it not then the Board are shifting the financial goal posts.

Why has Wilder generated it? You’ve absolutely no idea how much Wilder will get and living in cloud cuckoo land if you think he would get it all and straight away. Maybe he has to negotiate how much for now and how much for January.

I agree that no one knows what CWs revised budget is post Brook sale, but we can only go on his comment about seeing the Board to see how much of the Brooks fee he will get. I can understand the Board telling him that he has to make some.of it last for January (and I think he would do that anyway) but why shouldn't CW see all of the Brooks fee on top of the original budget promised him? Cos in my mind he should get it all.

Example. If I went to work for the week and got my weekly wage, and then thought on Friday afternoon that I would go in on Saturday for a bit of overtime, I would expect to see the overtime money in my pay packet in addition to my basic weekly pay. I wouldn't expect my employer to reduce my basic weekly pay just because I did overtime, and ended up coming out with more money in total that week than I originally envisaged.

I knock the board as well but the decision to provide the initial transfer budget is completely independent to anything agreed after the Brooks sale.

For all we know they'll use that capital to pay off loans that free up funds for weekly wages. I'm not so worried about how the figure is reached, more that we don't end up wasting our chance to sign players because nothing is set in stone. Set the budget quickly and work with it

Might it not be Princey who won't give it him on the basis that he never expected to bankroll losses for so long and wants some back? Joint owners still isn't it?

We were also told that Wilder didn't think he had big potential. He not only contradicted that, he put a big sell on clause in the deal.

Don’t think anyone has claimed that Wilder was actively looking to let Brooks go. As Wilder has said though, once Brooks changed agents the writing was on the wall so Wilder resigned himself to Brooks leaving. There’s a difference. Some of us can see it.

True enough, but this was an example of player and agent causing the transfer to happen and CW thinking the money offered was better than an unhappy player (which I absolutely agree with in this instance). The board were not involved with this one and no blame can be attached to them on this. The initial thought that 'He will only go if CW wants to sell him' was only applicable while the player himself wanted to be here. Once HE wanted out the club has very option but to get the best price for him. Utd have done well on this one all things considered.

At a guess, I'd say he probably isn't. He knows what he's got but doesn't think it wise to announce that whilst in the middle of negotiations for players

Indeed...being decent chaps you would think the owners would have reassured Wilder and stated how much he would receive to aquire an adequate replacement before the lad left....not leave him out the door with the begging bowl ‘negotiating’ once he’d gone.

Amature stuff really.

On the contrary, people who stated that the lad would only be sold if CW sanctions it have proven to be right. Wilder did sanction the sale, not the board.

Maybe not these days so much, but Utd's previous boards in the past have definately been a nest of snakes and on the take. Read Alan Hodgkinsons biography and it mentions about how his testimonial money disappeared somewhere in the club and he never saw it. After all those games and service he gave to the club. Shameful. Some of our past board members have been nothing short of crooks.
 
One thing I noticed from last night was that Wilder confirmed we are seeking a replacement for Brooks. That means another incomer and presumably he's looking for someone better than what we've got so it will have to be someone decent to be better than Duffy and Holmes to be fair, unless its a younger guy to develop like Gwion Edwards from Peterborough.

Nobody has said on this board that Brooks wouldn’t be leaving unless Wilder wanted to sell him.

What some people said was that Wilder had the last say in the transfer, as Wilder said himself, and that Brooks wouldn’t leave unless Wilder had OK’d it.

Yeah I was interested in that given CW comments about him, but then says he wants another player in there as well? Out of curiosity as well, what number did Holmes have? 11 is available and I know it doesn't mean that much, but it might be a indication he might feature more.
 
Hope so, he looks like a good player, little bit rough, but Knilly has the sandpaper in hand!
