Just in McCabe and the prince have announced Wilders cut from the Brooks deal:

Was the follow-up question:“Are we in for players that have played at the top end of the Championship? Yes we are”
Why has Wilder generated it? You’ve absolutely no idea how much Wilder will get and living in cloud cuckoo land if you think he would get it all and straight away. Maybe he has to negotiate how much for now and how much for January. So Kev gives Wilder a new shiny increased budget to play with. I assume all parties were happy to proceed with that budget.
Then Wilder generates another pretty hefty windfall and yet McCabe still won’t let him have it. When will it end?

I knock the board as well but the decision to provide the initial transfer budget is completely independent to anything agreed after the Brooks sale. How I think it will work is:
1) United's board agree a transfer budget for CW to work with, let's say £10m for example.
2) Brooks and his agent kick off and we sell for a £12m up front fee. So that's the original £10m budget and a £12m fee so £22m should now be in CWs working pot of money.
3) Utd's board tell CW that he can have half of the Brooks fee and that he can also spend the original £10m. Wilder now has £16m transfer and wages budget. They tell Chris he is a very lucky lad.
4) Utd's board laugh themselves silly after CW leaves the boardroom as they have now really only given him £4m to spend rather than the £10m they previously promised him in the original war chest (with Brooks £12m transfer fee making up 3 quarters of the revised post brooks sale £16m budget). The £4m contribution from the board probably not being so different to last pre seasons bargain basement budget given to Wilder.
Of course all the above is hypothetical, but really, ALL of the Brooks money should be in addition to the original amount promised to CW back in May. Otherwise they simply aren't backing him with what they previously promised him.

So having been repeatedly told by various people on this board that Brooks would be going nowhere if Wilder didn't want him to go, it turns out that Wilder didn't want him to go and he went anyway...

Why is he STILL having to negotiate what he can spend from the Brooks sale? That shod have taken no more than 20 seconds.
True enough, but this was an example of player and agent causing the transfer to happen and CW thinking the money offered was better than an unhappy player (which I absolutely agree with in this instance). The board were not involved with this one and no blame can be attached to them on this. The initial thought that 'He will only go if CW wants to sell him' was only applicable while the player himself wanted to be here. Once HE wanted out the club has very option but to get the best price for him. Utd have done well on this one all things considered.
Don’t think anyone has claimed that Wilder was actively looking to let Brooks go. As Wilder has said though, once Brooks changed agents the writing was on the wall so Wilder resigned himself to Brooks leaving. There’s a difference. Some of us can see it.
Here we go.. fucks sake...
Oh I see, these views about what will happen coming from people who don't know what's going to happen come with invisible caveats so they can never be wrong. Thanks for clearing that up.
Some of you are back-pedalling .
I know though: pesky agents. Nothing United can do when pesky agents are in the room.
Our board - sly old vipers.
Can you show me one post on here that says Wilder wanted Brooks to leave?
What are you going on about? I never mentioned that scenario.
Yeah I was interested in that given CW comments about him, but then says he wants another player in there as well? Out of curiosity as well, what number did Holmes have? 11 is available and I know it doesn't mean that much, but it might be a indication he might feature more. How did Holmes play??
Was just about to ask on the other thread???
How dare you speculate? Don't you realise this is a serious meltdown thread full of facts and only facts. Why has Wilder generated it?
