How do much money you think we've saved with Blackman, Hussey, Reed, Thomas, Heneghan, Hanson, Donaldson and Wilson leaving? £35 grand a week? Its probably close to Hogan's wage. Maybe we could afford him?

Edit: Obviously we've signed Henderson, which cancels out Blackman's wage contribution.

35k a week for Hogan, then you have half of our team knocking on the gaffers door.

Hogan....1 season in how many? Not worth the 35k p/w and considering Villa finished 4th and most of their fans want him gone?

100% agree. I wouldn't sign him personally, just suggesting that we could possibly afford a big wage for 1/2 players. I'd rather go for a Tom Bradshaw or Jack Marriott who might cost us good money transfer fee wise, but wages will fit in with the rest of the squad and they would be our player.

JOC's still got this lad his pocket since the home game. If he's not ended up in the wash we could get him cheaper.

Hogan not travelled to Portugal with the rest of the Villa squad according to Twitter.

Marriott would cost £6m so I doubt even he would be happy on less than £15k - 20k a week.
I really like both your suggestions but Wilder has stated he's going for quality over quantity. A £12m striker would definatley fall into the "ambitious" category more than a striker from relegated Barnsley, or a previously lower league striker would.

Gallagher and Hogan would tick a lot of our boxes but would cost a fortune. I'm seeing both being linked with loans now though so maybe that would make it more doable.

A few Villa fans on Twitter are saying he hasn't travelled to Portugal with the rest of there squad for pre-season. Not on any of there training images in Portugal either so probably true.

Been told he's been at Shirecliffe this week, by the same guy that said Donaldson was there 2wk before he signed.

Did we go for Clayton earlier in the window then? Thought it was a deadline day deal.

Looks promising if so though .

If we sign him and he plays for us like he did for Brentford - great! If he plays like he has for most of his other clubs...not so great!

I’ll trust Wilder on this.

No idea what happens with that pal?, to be fair, this guy does some "maintenance" work for McCabes Scarborough group.
He also told me when we got Jay O'Shea.
He's not always right but sometimes he manages it!!

Also, that should've said 2DAYS not weeks, my fault for posting before checking!!
Apologies!

We did. Donaldson wasn’t there 2 weeks before he signed.

Edit: he wasn’t there two days before either

I remember just prior to when we signed O'Shea and someone on here said he overheard the rumour whilst showering at the gym, or something. Is this the same fella?

From the date the signing became reality, I vowed to always believe anything that came from the Original Source guy.

I was at work in the showers, this is the same guy that told me.

That conjures up an unfortunate picture in my mind, of a bloke in overalls, with a set of spanners in his hand, knelt down on the floor in a shower, whilst looking up at a naked chap taking a shower next to him and engaging in conversation about football. I think I'd be a bit wary of a workman chatting to me in that situation, as I lathered up.
