League 1 Promoted 'rivals'

Yep it's still pre-season...

After our years in the wilderness (L1), it got me thinking about all the other clubs that pipped us to promotion from that division of the 5 failed campaigns. Have they kicked on and gone on to better things? Are they still above us in the football pyramid?

11/12 - Charlton, Them & Huddersfield
Huddersfield are now PL
Charlton L1
Pigs mid-table CH

12/13 - Doncaster, Bournemouth, Yeovil
Doncaster - been all the way back to L2 but back for a 2nd season in L1
Bournemouth - about to embark on a 4th season in PL and have just signed a great young player
Yeovil - L2, found their level.

13/14 - Wolves, Brentford & Rotherham
Wolves kicked on, now PL
Brentford - mid-table CH
Rotherham - yoyo team, back in CH

14/15 - Bristol C, MK Dons, Preston
Bristol and Preston firmly established CH clubs that flirt with play offs
MK Dons, relegated to L2

15/16 - Wigan, Burton, Barnsley
Meh

Then there are teams that got to the play offs and went backwards, Stevenage, Swindon, L.Orient, Chesterfield.

I don't know what it all means, but it passed 10 mins

You missed out Tranmere's dramatic decline. Pissing the 3rd division for half a season followed by a relentless slide to non-league. Glad they're back to be honest.

Yep. You have to wonder where they would be if they'd held on and got promoted. Walsall were similar a few seasons ago, finished 3rd in the end, lost in play offs and not challenged again.

Same with us in 2012. Our squad was good enough for the championship.

Orient had that great season only to be pipped to promotion and then lost to Rotherham in the playoffs. Since then they've dropped like a stone. Didn't some Italian buy them and then royally fuck them up?

You're forgetting team from s6, bought out by a fisherman, threw loads of dosh and then it all went tits up, selling their best players, cutting costs, slid down the leagues and now playing Chesterfield in none league football albeit at the top end and claiming to be the most massive team none league football has seen (and likely to be seen) remember them?
