Im not for one instance saying hes a better player because he isnt but clayton donaldson earnt us more points last season than brooks did.

Its plain to see the lad has potential but 10mill spent wisely could have been the difference to take us over the line last season!

I'll just point this out, because nobody has yet...

Now we'll need to sign 3 forwards. Not just 2. And probably an attacking midfielder as well.

If we want quality, this extra few million Wilder might be given really won't go a very long way.

Didn't we borrow money in December to fund our purchases in the January Transfer Window from Shawbrook Bank, which was set against future player sales? Let's see if Brooks goes it gets settled? :)

I thought that was set against future revenues due in to the club from sell on clauses we were due and guaranteed, not from any future sales that may or may not materialise

And some people actually think the money will get reinvested back in the team  history suggests otherwise!

Just like Maguire, walker etc we will always sell on the cheap and half our fan base just accept it.

Wake up
This.

It isn't about selling players, its about the pathetic fees we get for them. Time after time its the same, we always undersell our best young players.

Cheers, just asking for a friend. I, sorry 'he' wants to get his facts straight before he takes off his shoes in the car park. ;)

Looks like it’s on, no GLTTL from me, couldn’t give a fuck really if it’s ruined his career. He’s got his cash and will be living in a nice place but who knows if it’ll be the right move for him

Brooks is the best talent seen at the Lane since Currie. Anyone who can't see this knows fuck all about football. It's inevitable that he will be be leaving some time in the future but if United sell him for the first bid, especially when they don't have to just yet, then they can fuck right off. That will be me done.

when did the club value him at 20m , show me the link

Fuck me - are you the blob?

It was a hypothetical response to Sean's assertion that just because Bournemouth are the only bidder at £12m then the value must be £12m. I was countering by offering if we (the club) valued him higher then we simply don't have to take their bid - akin to how Daniel Levy undertakes his negotiating at Spurs.

At no stage was it to be interpreted as a statistical fact more a philosophical standpoint which the club could/should take - however I feel I've already lost you to a frothing rage...

This is looking more and more likely, as such, what a load of shit.

If we can't keep relatively inexperienced rookies who spent half the season out for another campaign, who can we keep? And with Wilder and the atmosphere around the club (which will take a huge hit I imagine if we sell Brooks), the circumstances for keeping a team together couldn't be better and we're still selling our future to maybe possibly just about fund our present.

If he wants to go, he can coco and agents can anally pleasure themselves with a rusty chainsaw.

We need to start having our players sign contracts that say if you buy this player and he doesn't play 25 first team league games (65 minutes+) a season (unless injured) you have to pay us £1million a month.

Ridiculous.

Unless this is bollocks in which case carry on.

Well I've checked his Twitter and he doesn't follow Bournemouth and Bournemouth don't follow him either. Usually happens pretty early that doesn't it?

He follows Danny. So he could easily be signing for The Star instead.

I have mixed feelings about this. If he has asked for a transfer then he should go. Chris Wilder is right in saying he will not keep players who don’t want to be here. £15 million is the most I think he’s worth at present but it is United whe’re talking about so they’ll take the first bid (Brian Deane anyone?). If they give Chris at least £6 million of this he will spend it wisely. Two strikers for £2 mill each and a quality centre half for another £2 mill and I would be reasonably happy. Obviously I don’t want Brooks to leave but this may improve the team as a whole if we can bring in 3 good quality players. I know Brooks has been ill but I only really saw him have two great games v the pigs and Leeds away. A rough diamond who still needs some work. I don’t wish him any ill will at all. Will be on about £30k a week at 20 years old? I’d have some of that thanks.

I'm saying the same as this: "All I'm saying is that a team buying him is basing most of their valuation on his potential alone". I just believe Brooks' potential is a lot higher, that's all. The fact it would have cost us 11 million to get Murphy illustrates what a bad price it is to be honest.Btw: have you got your Muphy's mixed up? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Josh_Murphy
We were already a mid table side with an increase budget.A couple of new players and Brooks and there's no reason why we couldn't kick on.
The important part now is reinvestment. If we can replace with four or five players who are likely to increase in transfer value, it will have been good business. If we invest in ageing players, loans and duds it will be spectacularly bad business (if we don't get promoted). Promotion justifies anything.

As for next season being our best chance, I don't necessarily agree unless we give our best assets away for relative peanuts.

If we are announcing incomings this week then it will shed a lot of light on exactly how much budget we have.

The problem we have is that Clarke, Sharp and Duffy are all at the ends of their careers at this level. I doubt they'll be as effective as last season. Replacing Championship strikers is a very costly affair. I don't think our budget would have allowed us to bring in two permanent strikers who would be capable of filling their boots going forward.

If we are selling him, I would assume that either we have no choice (he wants to go, and getting a new agent would possibly indicate that) or that Chris feels he can use the money to significantly improve the first team as a whole. He's currently not an integral part of the first team. I assume that comes into his thinking.

At present ability levels and In the right positions, 2 players valued at £5-6m strengthen our first 11 more than Brooks on his own in my view. Now, that may well change as he progresses, but i actually think growing the war chest (I hope) that allows better standard recruitment, gives us better prospects for THIS season.

We can’t keep anyone who wants to leave and has a potential buyer. That’s what people mean when they talk about ‘player power’.

This is what makes it so galling that he looks like he’s going on the cheap - Brooks isn’t a che Adams or a Calvert-Lewin, a half decent prospect, he’s drawn genuine comparison with TC, you’re bang on - anyone who can’t see how good he is does not know anything about football. Feeling disillusioned with blades with this news. Would be good for us to show a modicum of ambition just for once.

Do we think Bournemouth’s offer has met Wilder’s valuation, or do we think dark forces are at work here?

If we want to move onwards and upwards we need to strengthen...we need 2-3 quality players....without Brookes being sold we wouldn’t be able to get them. I’ve loved watching him...but we all need to be realistic. However, if Wilder does not get the money, then I too will be rattled.

If we go on the fact we need to replace a fair chunk of our forwards in the squad then surely we need to be aiming to get as much money for Brooks to cover that.

£10million in this division barely touches the sides especially when you take into account a players wage.

So how much are we throwing away then?

I'd say at least £10m, because after a full season of development he'd be worth over £20m. And he might have even got us fucking promoted....
What if he’s the one pushing for this move?
Would you consider it irrelevant and make him stay?

The money will be used to build the new club shop on the corner, whatever's left will be burned and used to heat the water in the South Stand for 15 minutes of the first league game.

This is pretty much my view too. Individual sacrifice to allow strengthening of the team

10 million plus (reported) is a hell of a return for a Good half season of mostly cameos

Brooks is an excellent young talent and will do well, not sure Bournemouth really is a great move for him, would’ve thought the likes of spurs or Liverpool would suit him better, but if that’s the offer on the table then fair enough.

I was hoping to see him really take this league apart this season, but looks like it’s not going to happen.

I’m sure a decent few quid in Wilders kitty has persuaded him to allow Brooks to go.

Let’s hope we spend it wisely
