Coutts returns

This is good news - well, it is as far as I could get down the article before the The Star’s fucking shitty website started playing up. Again.

Is it just me - pop ups, click bait, slow loading speeds & random resets galore. I don’t think I’ve ever managed to read an article on there from soup to nuts without several annoying and unnecessary interruptions.

I still don’t know what Wilder’s plans are for Ched that the headline alludes to as well as the Coutts update.

I vote it the worst website ever & am so outraged I can’t read all the news about Coutts & Evans, I’m contemplating a thread.

It’s good news about Coutts though.

Did anyone else hear the 'never gives the ball away' chant at the England game the other day? Was that song.... appropriated from somewhere else or was it an original, conceived for Coutts?

Be amazing if it's made it to the world cup, either with blades or others.

Great news Mr C is coming back. I'm not expecting him to come back in the form he was in, but on that Sheffield Live YouTube show with Alan Biggs, Coutts said his leg has repaired well and is stronger than before the break Hopefully, his confidence is there so he can get on with playing and finding form as soon as possible.

Too bleedin right mate. The site is a joke and jumps about more than a frog with piles! As for Ched, Wilder wants him to get at least 20 games in before christmas so is hinting that a loan out is probable. Good work by Chris to give Ched every chance of getting back to full fitness, although it could also be the last chance saloon for him.

We stole the Coutts song. :(

He’s the one who slows our tempo down and then speeds it back up again as and when he chooses.

It just allows us to build out from the back much better. As the defenders just look to Coutts and let him pass it for them. He can take it under pressure as he’s a big bloke.

Evans tried to replicate what Coutts does but I think Coutts just has that much needed experience in that role.

Cannot wait to see him back out on a football pitch.

I am as excited for his return as anyone but let's temper that excitement with a bit of realistic expectation.

Couttsy has not only come back from a traumatic injury but he also hasn't kicked a ball in a very long time.

Physically, Mentally and Technically he will be building himself back up. I'd hate to see him suffer some flack from the fans because they don't appreciate the recovery period.

That's the type of patience we need to adopt.

With Ched however we expected him to walk straight back in the team and start scoring hat tricks.

Anyone giving HRH The Lord Sir Paul Coutts VC any stick whatsoever needs to hand in their Blade pass and fuck off to the Sty asap.

Did we? I thought most of us expected him simply to contribute as part of the squad and score the occasional goal. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to meet even those fairly low expectations, despite a huge amount of patience from fans and the manager. There is of course still time for him to turn that around, but so far this has not been one of Wilder’s better signings. As with James Wallace, we also signed him coming off from a season where he wasn’t able to stay fit, so it’s not as though there weren’t warning signs.

In answer to your question: there are very few original songs. The “Barrell of money” and the “Greasy chip butty” song are copyrighted to us Blades fans. But the rest are made in a little song factory in Cleckheaton by a dyslexic chimpanzee and sold to all 92 football clubs at the start of each season.

It’s a very successful business actually because the songs are copied by everyone and even when the players named in those songs are crap or have left the club the fans don’t realise and keep singing the same words.

Go on then, explain the turn of phrase to me.

I first came across it as a lad in a Laurel & Hardy film. (Christ, I hope you know who they are.....)

It’s a term that basically describes a meal/banquet of many courses - starting with soup & ending with nuts.

It’s used then as just another way of saying ‘from start to finish’.

So it's got nothing to do with dipping your gnads in a bowl of leek and potato?

Yes and yes. Good to see some people can see the situation and for those who can't, a reminder; this time last season Evan's was carrying an injury (shame it wasn't fixed in the summer ), then played on with it as we were short of forwards. Whichever way it goes, United can hold their heads up and say he got a fair chance.
