Brooks is seen as more of a striker than the Duffy role I reckon. Palmer would be competition for Duffy and we'd basically have two midfields that would be similar in terms of roles:

Coutts-Duffy-Fleck
Evans-Palmer-Lundstram

To be fair to Coutts his game wasn’t exactly known for running box to box etc. If he was I think we would be struggling, but the way he plays is probably the best possible role for someone to recover from a leg break.

I like that. I know exactly what you mean and I agree. It’s more of a sitting role. Collecting, distributing, stitching play together. But the thought just crossed my mind about it being an ideal job for a bloke with a recently broken leg!

I was trying to recall Palmer. I think he’s the guy that came on as sub for Hudders in the play offs and caused all sorts of problems down the flank, getting in behind the full backs? If so, yes, could do with some of that.

The later contract date (for those players who do have a contract running out) simply gives agents more time to negotiate before their clients hit the panicky 'out of contract' situation. It is not a barrier but one reason why deals don't always appear early; managers may have 'got their man' but just not found the right price.

The thing is Wilder would have known that when he signed him, I cannot believe he has changed in a few months, and to be fair he has rarely had a chance, and never,as I can remember played a run of games, against Villa away he was our best player,be interesting to see what happens to him, a manager ,like us fans can change his mind I suppose
