Possible Summer Targets

Kenneth Omeruo - Another Chelsea player. Nigerian centre back who can play right back. About 6 foot 1, athletic and good on the ball. Has been on loan in Turkey for the last 3 seasons, most recently with Kasimpasa, who finished 8th. He's 24 now so Chelsea will surely look to move him on, but maybe they'd loan him again.
Wasn't he playing against England the other night

Is there even any professional football players left that haven’t been suggested on here?

Jerome Sinclair - His thread being bumped and the likely bullshit rumour reminded me. Would we take him after that nonsense with the loan move collapse? I'd have no problem with him, and there aren't many about with his pace, trickery and goalscoring potential. But I really wouldn't want to deal with his slimy, greedy cunt of an agent.

If he’s not looked at how we did last year (especially pre-Christmas), whilst rotting away in Watfords reserves, and not been absolutely raging he wasnt part of it, he doesnt deserve to call himself a professional footballer.

For what its worth, I’d still take him (if CW hasnt got better up his sleeve) as it seemed he was pissed about by the agent, not the lad himself being an arse. But he needs to grow a backbone and bin the agent/pimp.

Ben Osborn has been linked with Derby for £1m plus Jacob Butterfield. That would probably have Forest valuing him at little over £2m. At that sort of price I'd like us to go for him.

He'd be a good attacking left wing back and also proper cover for Fleck.

The agent who helped make him a multi-millionaire by his early twenties you mean? Different people have different motivations - some chase success, others go for power, some prefer to make others happy and some just chase the $$$. Who knows what makes Sinclair tick but there are a lot of people in the world who's desire drops once they have enough money that they won't ever need to work again. Of course what happened a year ago was a cock-up and his agent's plans to squeeze more money out of the deal went spectacularly t1ts-up and was also put more in the public domain than most deals thanks to the CW video, but I'd be surprised if that was enough for his Sinclair to "bin" him considering he;s secured him lucrative moves to Liverpool and Watford in the past.

All fair and valid points. He could well just be coasting now- why else would he sit on his arse in a train station for hours (allegedly) while his agent messes him and the club about? Is he so subservient and unable to make decisions? If he’s already made him his money, but is now doing things to the detriment if his future career/earnings, then yes- bin him. Theres no loyalty between players and clubs anymore- so why should there be loyalty to these cockroaches?

The question I answered was:
Would we take him after that nonsense with the loan move collapse?

My answer is a) yes, if he no longer has the same representation and b) Wilder/Mitchell havent identified a better alternative.

Nick Blackman ? one year left on his deal at Derby and will probably move on from them. Was on loan at Maccabi Tel-Aviv last season scoring 12 goals in all comps and playing regularly. Not sure what the standard of the league is, shite im guessing but he did score against Villareal in the Europa League. Gotta throw an ex-player in the mix, he has all the tools I could see Wilder working that Leon Clarke magic on him aswell. Also his pens were an absolute art form when he was with us wouldn't mind seeing those again.

We could do worse but I still have nightmares of every shot along the floor finding the corner as he didn't get down quick enough

I just have nightmares about him standing in goal for us. Dreadful keeper didn't know how to move his feet, too small doesn't command his area. I can't see that he has improved that much. There are far better out there.

How about this? Most have been linked/rumoured and it certainly ticks the quality over quantity box. Would give us everything we need.

Jamal Blackman - Loan
John Egan - £2m
Jack Robinson - Free
Kasey Palmer - Loan
Adam Armstrong - £2m
Tammy Abraham - Loan

Not a bad list that at all. Although I quite like the idea of us bringing in Scott Hogan.

btw, I wonder how much Bamford is on at Boro and will Pulis use him next season?

It's a great list but the way CW is talking, he won't be bringing 6 players in. 3 is my guess.

Don’t think an England international will drop down a division. Someone in the pl will make an offer to take him on loan imo.

I’d love either Sam Johnson or Danny ward on loan if we can’t get Blackman back here.

Robinson sounds like he’d be a decent option from what i’Ve read.

Tosin Adarabioyo on loan for the centreback

I’ve always rated luke freeman.

And though I believe it is probably our of our price range maybe we could exploit villas situation for hogan.

He's known to be in for a GK, CB and two CFs. So that's 4 already. Then there's Kasey Palmer, an attacking midfielder, strongly linked so that would take it to 5. And I'd like to think he'll strengthen at LWB.

So I'm confident we'll sign a minimum of 5.

6 would be a good number. Especially if we could get the ones listed because there'd be plenty of familiarity and they'd settle easily - Egan is known to some of the squad then there's the 3 Chelsea lads with Blackman having been here already. Armstrong played with Fleck at Coventry.

The outstanding thing that cw has stated for me that already ticks boxes,is that we are looking at quality not quantity.
Any three out of the above mentioned would improve us greatly.
Fab times ahead.

I'll go with 4 as we are clearly in for a keeper even though CW didn't mention that. What he did say is a CB and 2 up top. Palmer could conceivably be one of those.

How about these two wankers?

Sheffield Wednesday will reportedly look to sell Fernando Forestieri and Barry Bannan this summer.

The Mirror have reported that the club are looking to offload the stars in a bid to balance the books.

John Cross reports that 'Wednesday put players on big contracts to try to win promotion but they finished in 15th and will now have to trim the squad.'

Could be used to bolster our number in the U23's squad i suppose.

I'm not sure Wilder is looking for another LWB. He seems to sing Enda Stevens' praises every single opportunity he gets and if he was looking to replace Lafferty he would've put him on the transfer list

Agree with that.

Blackman and Palmer in talks according to link, which then says it comes from the Yorkshire Post

Apologies if posted elsewhere

http://the72.co.uk/105205/sheffield-united-talks-chelsea-duo/

"The Blades are being strongly linked with a move for former loan keeper Jamal Blackman, with his Chelsea team-mate Kasey Palmer being another player on their radar. New forward additions and a centre-half are also on the club’s summer shopping list. Manager Chris Wilder said: “We have got a few bits and pieces going on. We are getting things in line and speaking to people, stuff like that."

No talks but we're 'linked'. Take that in the laziest possible sense of the word i.e. Blackman played for us last year and Palmer has the same parent club.

He does seem to rate Stevens (wouldn't surprise me if his stats are good). But I think he'll regret it if he doesn't sign another LWB - someone to push him at the very least, ideally someone to add more pace and attacking quality.

Due to the new transfer window system we'd have to wait 5 months to make any further additions. So you don't want to go into the season with any possible gaps if you can help it.

Add a LWB to the other positions stated and I think we'd have absolutely everything covered.

If that was the business we did this summer, I'd be delighted.

My only concern is that if Abraham and Palmer are available on loan to championship clubs, Derby would seem a more likely destination.

Agree - if Stevens was injured in the opening game, would Lafferty be good enough to cover until Jan? IMHO - whilst he had limited opportunities at LWB last season from what I saw in L1 then no and an upgrade would definitely be required

My guess is that with the budget we have, which although improved is still probably going to be less than the rest of the top 10, the LWB isn't a priority whereas the other positions are and Wilder hinted we are likely to need to spend some cash this summer than rely on League One smaller buys.

Rhys Norrington-Davies looked a prospect when I saw him. Maybe Wilder doesn't want to block his path?
