O.K. it's me again.

Sorry Blades fans. I have to say yet again that our Messiah has a blind spot for Louis Reed.

P.O.T.Y for a third time, this time at Chesterfield.. England International at three levels.

We love to sign P.O.T.S' from Southend, Portsmouth and also-rans from other clubs.

Reed is 'one of our own'. Was always going to be P.O.T.S. at Chesterfield. And he was.

Why does he not get a chance?

He's fitter than most. He's stronger than most. He holds possession like Coutts. He has a really good through ball. He creates 'assists'. He's the right sort of person every football clubs need. He's not a 'jack the lad', far from it. Great attitude.

We are letting him go. Just like Coutts and Freeman could have gone two years ago.

Think again Chris. love you to bits, always have, but this is a big mistake.

I think we should be looking to do better than player of the season from League Two's bottom team, then again I'm happy to be proven wrong.

He will do much better but we sent him there, just a few days after Brooks was destined there before him!! Think that one through.

Actually Brooks would have been better served going there , just like Reed was.

Woody - Louis has many qualities that lead him to being a professional footballer, but he lacks certain attributes that mean he will never play above 3rd tier level. As a Blades fan, I want every single one of our juniors to develop and progress, but Louis lacks some of what is required.

Do you want the Blades to progress? higher next season than 10th? If so, then we can't do it with Louis in the squad - sadly, even if he is one of our own.

Fulwood. respect as always.

Do you seriously think Evans, Lundstram, Stevens, Baldock, Carruthers, Thomas, Hussey, Holmes as yet, Leonard as yet, are all better than Reed who is 21 years old and so much ahead of him?

The football club will be there when the manager and these player above have long gone by the time Reed retires in another 15 years.

2 more years investment and we have a winner.

I understand where you're coming from but I would disagree that he is stronger than most. He also got a fair chance under Clough I thought. Nothing against the lad but I can't help but think it's the best decision for us and him.

Woody - I have my suspicions about ALL of the players you have listed.

CW and United operated in a certain market when we left the 3rd tier and was disappointing with Holmes and Leonard. We chased them last summer and didn't need them in the JTW.

As is usual with players for me - I have one criteria - "are they good enough to play 40 games and get us into the top 6 - therefore qualify for a chance of promotion" - I question everyone of those players you listed except Evans. I would like to see Evans/Coutts/Fleck as part of a flat 5 and see if Evans can make that work - he doesn't work when asked to play the Coutts role, as didn't Lundstram.

We need quality, not quanity - we did quantity with Bassett and for a while with Warnock.

Sorry, Louis isn't the answer - as much I would like home grown talent.

You look at players like Nicky Law and Kev Hurst in recent years, I’d put him in that bracket. Ok for league 1 or 2 but not good enough for where we want to be.

Kristian Dennis was Chesterfield’s top scorer last season and I’d be fuming if we bought him.

With Long and Reed unfortunately it’s time to move on and wish them the best.

Agree with much of that Fulwood.

When Wilder arrived he made so many decisions his first week, I wondered where he had been appraised from, particularly as he did not retain any staff.

Reed was a victim of those circumstances and it set him back 2 years. The first year he was POTS in the U-23's and this last year he was POTS at Chesterfield.

Prior to that he had a wasted year under Adkins. Prior to that he was a 'star in the making' under Clough.

If Clough had stayed Reed would be a 'main man' now, no doubt whatsoever.

Louis has suffered due to the turmoil at United - that is for certain - but he had opportunities and didn't quite take them.

Good players tend to step out of adversities and shine. Perhaps Louis needed a father figure - bit like Jake Wright did for JOC in the 3rd tier.

We have history with young players - numerous say we ruined Tony Philliskirk.

It's all a bit sad with Louis - such promise - perhaps right player, wrong place.

It's not too late and in the meantime he has collected two more POTS's.

Can he affect a game at the top of the Championship? which is where CW wants to play his football.

answer is possibly in a few years - we don't have a few years with CW - we have 2 at max unless we progress. We need to keep CW happy, not wait for Louis which may never happen.

Big point that Fulwood.

Exactly what is wrong with English football.

Short termism. If Wilder had security in his contract for 4/6/8 10 years he would be serving the club, the players and the fans differently.

As it is, I think Wilder is a long term thinker but it has its parameters.

CW wouldn't sign a long contract - he's off if we don't provide the funds. Anyway, contracts mean jack shit now a days. Just look at Gary Rowett at Derby. He had a £2m buy out, in come Stoke and he's gone. Unless we are very careful we won't fight off West Brom/Sunderland etc forever.

Football is short term-ism now - the world has moved on from when we first started watching football. Just look at the Prince wanting "modern" management with Van Winkle. The Prince and Van Winkle would ruin Sheff Utd if allowed to put it into practice.

Has to be right. I just think we fans, this club and Chris Wilder maybe could have shown the football world the power of our combined force. Shown them up for what they are. Impossible dream but if McCabe had not recruited the prince ( who would never understand all that S2 business) and teamed up with Wilder just 3 or 4 years earlier( didn't Bassett recommend him, I did!!!) we might just be on a Brian Clough-type surge by now.

Something has to differentiate for us to succeed.

Maybe we could bring back Callum McFadzean from Guisley as well, to see if he's good enough yet for a tip at a Premier League promotion effort ;-)

I think he's still got potential. In a perfect world a season loan to League 1 would be my preferred choice and see how it goes. He'll only improve and still young. He's certainly not good enough for the Championship at this moment in time.

Take away the fact he used to play for us, player of the season for a team relegated from league 2 is not where we should be looking.

Should we look at Barnets player of the season too?

Portsmouth's, Southend's. Oxford's ?

With respect. which is mostly what we would all wish for, he's not good enough, never was. His brother was a few years ago though.@Fraggie
