Darren the accountant off that there Twitter says a deal is 'unlikely' and that we're interested in some bloke called Dean Henderson from Man U, Danny Ward from Liverpool and Boaz Myhill.

Thrilling times.
Those two fair enough but Boaz Myhill is about fifty.

But since it's darren I'll take it with a mine full of salt because he knows diddly squat

"Things change" E.G. Myhill got older..... :)

He's played five times in two years it seems.

Wasn't myhill one of the west Brom players who got done for nicking a taxi in Barcelona a few months back

No way Wilder will sign Myhill.

Doesn’t fit the profile of player we will go after. Older, no value, expensive and not going to improve.

If we can't afford Blackman on a permanent deal, it's a worry. What with all the mutual good will & increased budget.

If Henderson & Ward (under contract until 2021) are being mentioned, then they would be on loans.

Henderson is currently on loan at shrewsbury this season and got voted into the League 1 team of the year. If they go up today, i suspect they'd want him again next year in the championship.

Ward did well for Huddersfield on loan the season they went up.

Myhill should be kept away from.

If folk say they have seen JM around Sheffield is it possible they have mistaken him for someone else? I mean it's possible ,int it?

You know how I roll 2na, comment is free, but facts are sacred. :)

"We'll get the maximum out of the budget and we'll be diligent as we've always been. I'm grateful that the owners have found money to improve the budget I've been given to work with."

Thanks NC, appreciate that. :)

Will be interesting to see how the new budget affects the sort of players we sign.

If Blackman is now attainable, I feel we should definitely make an effort to sign him permanently.

Can I just point out, that if Wilders budget was £10m (just a random figure) then if his budget this season is £11m it’s not going to make a significant difference.

We need an almost doubling of the budget to see a genuine difference IMHO

We could probably afford a fee, but he isn't going to suddenly want to vastly reduce his wages? Or is he?

Depends how much he wants to play football I suppose. He can sit in the Chelsea reserves on the pay he receives until he signs for someone else permanently, or he can make the jump now whilst he's still young & has a lot of football to play at a club he's just spent the best part of a year at (if we are indeed in the market for him).

Firstly, I thought it had been said on here that we matched his wage when he was on loan? Was £12k a week mentioned? If not, then both us & Wycombe (the season before) must have got a real bargain. Secondly, as previously mentioned I find it surprising/worrying that our best current 1st team wage, is 'vastly' less than what Chelsea pay their current U23 team keeper (at best 4th at worst 5th choice keeper). Thirdly, I'm sure any balancing off of wages could be partly/fully achieved through a signing on fee, a pay off/contribution from Chelsea or a reduction in transfer fee in lieu of a larger sell on clause.

You obviously know more of the details Foxy, as a matter of interest, how much is the difference (% as opposed to figures if you want) between our max weekly wage & what JB is on at Chelsea? 50%?

Why would he be sat in Chelsea reserves? He played for the Blades on his supposed £25,000 a week. He could rejoin on loan or be loaned to another club. We could pay nowhere near what he is allegedly on if we were to try and sign him.

After Bouncing Day, a very close friend of our manager tweeted that they paid 10 of their players over £30,000/week and we didn't have one on half that.

Blackman was said to be on £13k a week whilst at Wycombe on loan. He has since been given an improved four year contract rumoured to be in the region of £18-20k a week. If our budget is increased then presumably our upper wage limit is so Blackman would definitely be at the top end of that. Provided he's not looking to increase his wage again as he will receive add ons from any transfer and if the figures quoted are near the mark then getting him on a permanent would seem to be doable. The key would be to try and get a fee lower than the £2.5 million quoted recently by the media to maximise whats left in the budget.

What is with the obsession to buy Blackman when he’s probably going to be available on loan?

Because he would be an asset.

Otherwise, we pay a loan fee, cover his wages for another season and are left looking for a new GK every year.

Sign him permanently and his value rocket if he has another good season.

I think if we do sign him permanently, Chelsea will want either a large sell-on fee, or a buy-back clause.

He’s a rising star, they aren’t going to give him away and he’s on 20K+ I believe
