Who on here has been to the most away grounds watching the Blades?

Er, yes, that is the Stat, I've seen a Sheffield United XI play on 206 different grounds.

I am in awe Ball_.

Please tell us all about it all. Why? When? Times and opportunities.

You have a special interest in the young players' development at the club and I hope I personally have given you a lot of encouragement to acquaint us Forum members with your knowledge and views over the years. You and @Baw and larkymasher . Very much appreciated.

The extent of your commitment is mind-blowing. Don't be shy Blade.Tell us all about it. That's what a Forum is all about, especially the bllod/supply line from the youths.

All the top clubs are suddenly thinking "what are we getting for our £60m and £80k per week new signings. "who is doing any sort of job anywhere other than writing cheques?"

Well......
I do the thing where I count any ground where I've seen a Sheffield United XI play, any age group, any competition or friendly - count absolutely owt...
By "that method" I've done 206 different grounds.
(..puts tin hat on..)

Cheat! :D

I don't count the likes of those... Nor the daft trips to youth cup/development/random XI with a red and white shirt on, on a Monday night, in the rain, at the arse end of nowhere and predictibly going to extra time and pens.

Current league grounds only for me and must be a competitive first team game :)

The only ones I've not done, we haven't played at in a competitive game in my lifetime.

Mate, not much to say really. I'm 60 this year. Been going off & on since 1968. The grounds just clock up don't they? I'm certainly not advocating anyone use my counting system. It's just how I've counted over the years. I usually just say I like getting out & about & seeing a bit of different places & having a bevvy.

As an example, these are the new grounds I've seen an SUFC XI play on in 2017/18
Coin (v Malaga)
Oxford City
Riada, Ballymoney
Bohemians
Eastleigh
Cardiff City new stadium
Swallownest
Alfreton Town
Hednesford Town
Leyland FA
Dunkirk FC
North Ferriby Utd
Handsworth Parramore
Swansea Landore Training Ground

I’m guessing at 120-130 ish, including pre season friendlies, grounds that don’t exist any more and such like.

Done 82 current league clubs.

Oddly enough I’ve never seen Everton play either Home or away though.

I'm only kidding pal :) Much respect and I am actually compiling an overall list like yours for my own reference.

I've started one for Ruby too, as in her first year she's clocked up a not too shabby number :D

She'll either thank me for noting them or wonder why Daddy is such a dickhead when she's old enough to make the choice as to whether or not to follow my hobby.

Having had to tone down the youth side and be more sensible due to starting a family... I hope to have an outlook similar to yourself again once circumstances allow :)

Foxy. Are they 'daft ones'. Commitment to SUFC takes many forms. Often I excuse myself in more balanced company about what I am. I totally 'get' the SUFC 'virus' and - like all addictions, I sincerely wish I never had 'got it'.

This forum can learn so much from the likes of Ball_. Tell you what Ball_ I'll write your story for Forum enjoyment.

I only call them daft, because we are daft for doing them... I think Ball_Sup (Phil) would be the first to admit whilst it is an enjoyable commitment, those that do are daft in most people's eyes for doing it :D

I mean, I've been close at times of getting my own carrier bag ;)

Over one-hundred I think (I'd look on that website thing but I've lost the will to live after that other thread); I'm declaring myself the winner anyway because I'm feeling a bit good today.
If there was a "how many grounds have you hitched to" thread, you'd be in the top 5. Probably.....

Take care Blade. We brought our kids up with 'home and aways' for most of their 6 to 14 years.

With hindsight and total honesty, I wish we had not.

Football has departed our 'working class' roots. It's also departed 'middle class' roots.

Think seriously about the direction you want your baby to take. Football is not a healthy place. Just take a look at this forum!!

I can't be arsed working it out. Don't get to many games these days but went away regularly in the 80s and 90s - so that's seasons in all four divisions. Actually started going 40 years ago, in our relegation season from the old 2nd division.

I don't mind being called anything by anyone. I live in a self deprecating haze. We are the Carrier Bag Firm - loud n proud. I'll search high & low for a particular ale (eg that North Brewing/Verdant Triple Fruited Gose, tasted like an Alcopop when I got to it, needed more salt...) - but I mainly just stumble about.

I was calling myself daft, but you are therefore daft by association :)

You've got it cracked this life lark :D

One day we'll take it back.

Only if it fails and needs a recovery. By then Scudamore will have retired with an Essex countryside mansion and can just act dumb when they ask him how he never foresaw the collapse.

Yes we will pick up the pieces but the game is there right now at local levels.

You and I are 'addicted to SUFC. Addicts can't stop. Do not pass your addiction to your daughter.

Luckily our kids got a sense of perspective we never had because they left Sheffield to go to University. They talk United to us every week but they only go to big games or when we are away on holiday.

Parenting is so, so difficult.

That's why I've avoided lengthy relationships and having kids (knowingly); I don't want to share the pain and suffering.

Having said that, on Bouncing Day I phoned my dad up and thanked him for making me support United, whereas all the times I've cursed him for it, I've kept it quiet.

Who has seen TRAWW play on most Scottish grounds then ? It won't be me , but;

Kilmarnock away ( abandoned on 60 mins due to Ayrshire monsoon)
East Fife ( took the family and a picnic , wife said this is so much nicer than Bramall Lane)
Raith Rovers ( went solo, long walk from Kirkcaldy station, club let us in Directors lounge for a swally)
Greenock Morton twice, once under Warnock pre Premier season. Second time under Weirwolf , Jasper Johns, Sean McGinty debuts, had to leave early as midgees were taking lumps out of me!

Charming thought indeed. That's the burden us kids bear!! Me too!!

Off the top of my head...

Greenock Morton multiple times, first time we were invited in and given a full tour by their chairman.

Inverness - bloody freezing even in the preseason sunshine.

Cowdenbeath - Track round the pitch and curry house on site!

Been in many grounds north of the border for other fixtures and often just wandering in... Had a kick about between me and some Seagulls on the pitch at Stenhousemuir the other year :D

In other news, I have been deported from more World Cups than England have won. An unusual Stat I'll grant you. I'm not proud of that one. But, I'm 60 this year, so don't really give a fuck.

60!! Well played Balde!!

Sorry, Blade, Balde!!
