Support for CW on the day by Blades at Bristol was tremendous fuelled by reports CW was going to resign after the game as he was going to Sunderland. That was illogical as the Sunderland takeover hadn't taken place.

CW had already had some assurances prior to the game from the Board and had indicated he was looking to stay another year. He also told the players this after the game.

The catalyst for movement by the owners was the statement of Donald reported in the national press on 2 May. Local media only began to pick up on this the day after when Biggs wrote his article despite CW expressing his concerns on 28 April.

The owners weren't influenced by what Biggs wrote but the National press articles the day before would have given some cause for concern.

As Loughboro Blade says owners don't normally read letters from fans as most Clubs get their fair share everyday.

Bottom line is the new contracts and budget were down to the efforts of CW with a little help from Donald and no-one else.

To be serious I have to agree with a lot of what you say but maybe the fans singing made 1% difference, maybe Biggs made 3% difference as did Danny, maybe this forum made 1% difference even though we were at it way before the day Donald piped up. It all helps.

However, just imagine what difference a petition with 5000 fans' signatures would have made.

Owners are at the mercy of the fans if the fans get organised. It happens elsewhere. He could have gotten an even bigger budget!!

Backing Wilder cried out for it. 'He's one of our own'

Well done all those fans who made 'Noise' to keep Wilder.

It worked - be proud !!

Well done Biggs. Well done Danny. You made a difference.

Some said it couldn't be done until the owners settled.

We did it !!

We are still United. It was the only way to keep us that way.

Well done McCabe. Well done Prince.

P.s. Just a bit of 'unfinished business.':)

Well done To wilder and the players for being

May I put the record straight as to CW's decision not to pursue the Sunderland job.

This decision was not made by him, nor was it influenced by a petition with one signature, open letters from esteemed members of our local press, assurances from Our Kev and Prince Ali Bashar al Asaba ( am I getting confused here) or any of the other many and varied suggestions put forward on here.

No, as is the case in 99 per cent of these situations, the decision was taken by the female members of the Wilder household. Whilst we males like to believe that we have the final say in such matters, the reality is that our opinions count for nothing when faced with those of not one, but two members of the fairer sex.

I have it on good authority ( a bloke I met in a pub who is the cousin of a bloke who was a ball boy 30 years ago ) that after the Rob Staton interview when Chris refused to rule himself out of the said job, he arrived home to be greeted by two ladies who let him know, in no uncertain terms, that they were not prepared to move to a place where mushy pea sandwiches are considered a delicacy, whose town centre is on a par with Barnsley's and where it's fucking freezing in winter and where the sun comes out in summer about 3 o'clock, after the fog's cleared.

And, by the way, who play in the Losers League. Job done.

Isaw Joeshaw, much though I admire your sage counsel and decades of Blades-related insight, you are just wrong my friend. The decision was taken, and actioned, by our sole Quality Poster, whose invaluable moral and intellectual instruction has helped us all become, in his own words, “better forum members and human beings”.

Unlike lazy arsed Foxy, who contributed fuck all to the cause.

[insert “cartoon” of choice].

Well done all.

What next for this powerful entity though?

US gun law, a better Brexit or world peace?

The reach of the SUFC fan is long and our strength is mighty.

Onward buttercup and oppression beware.

Can you arrange a long leggy blonde russian lady for me, one who doesn’t mind ear and nose hair please ?

Maybe you should just thank his wife Francesca for not wanting to uproot from Sheffield and stop thinking its all about Chris.

Aah. Sage words indeed. Over the years Mrs ECL has regularly manipulated me (ooh, err, missus) into various decorating jobs, DIY duties , shopping trips, furniture buying extravaganzas etc by making me think it was all my idea while all the time sitting there stroking her pussy ( ooh, err, missus again) like a megolamaniac James Bond villain.

Overall good sentient in your post Esk.

As for the Chrissy thing, it's a contrivance, it suggests that the singer and subject of the song are connected, and no amount of logic or plain speaking will change that one bit where the vocalist is concerned. Where you have high spirits and booze you are faced with an insurmountable object, so good luck to those who choose to embrace this 'brotherly' connection, let's hope it lasts a long, long time.

Christopher Wilder, he's one of our own.

Nah - too posh :D

I normally enjoy reading your posts but in this instance I feel compelled to take issue with you.

What the fuck is wrong with mushy pea sandwiches?

Can someone update me on what’s gone on in this thread, don’t have time to read 7 pages.

WWF was right. Everyone else was wrong. He has interrupted his flounce, temporarily, to let us know this. But he will be resuming his flounce when, and only when, everyone who disagrees with him has been put right and dismissed as “morons” or “sharks”.

He, and He alone, has saved the club.

The Admin of this forum, and Sean Thornton, are feckless dullards.

I think that more or less captures it?

Silent Blade. Your status as a quality poster has been publicly challenged by The Quality Poster.

Despite illuminating the forum with your consistently remarkable insights into our club’s heritage, I hope you are suitably penitent, contrite and apologetic, and that you know your place in the face of such superior moral and intellectual authority, and such football knowledge.

Shame on you.

Cartoons. Tut.

Well at least the sharks turned up eventually. Not when needed for Sean though.

Parting advice for morons:

Always take pride in what you post. You know better than anybody how much/ how little substance you have. Life's not a cartoon or a cheap shot.

Give Sean his due. He has substance, if somewhat badly channelled. So many have no substance whatsoever and don't even attempt serious debate. Silent has too but seems to have regressed.

Don't let the door hit your arse.

This type of delusional arrogance might qualify for something close to humour if only it wasn't the handiwork of someone so obsessed by his own self-righteousness.

All this from a poster who has assumed the mantle of "Let me show you how to flounce (when it's convenient!)", and then expects these embarrassing outbursts to have no bearing on the fact that he struggles to be taken seriously. Bad-mouthing a far worthier poster such as Sean Thornton simply because he not only refutes WWF's increasingly irrational claims, but does so in ways that WWF could only wish to aspire towards. Thankfully that will never be the case.

I believe the word you are looking for is ****, or possibly ****, or possibly ******* ****

Whichever way you slice it, the man is a ****
