Ok so further to my previous post. This is something which has been posted on Facebook and seeing that though he says SSN, I have taken this to be factual.....I'm watching SSN and haven't seen it on there, but I have asked the geezer for his source so we shall see.

Nothing on the BBC, but this appeared.........

Ryan Leonard [Southend - Sheffield United] Undisclosed

Grimacing face? The Posh fans are all suddenly doom, gloom and expecting the worse. The see the emoji as a sign of bad news and feel the loss of Marriott or Maddison is about to be announced....

He definitely wins the 'missed opportunity of the season' award.

Young striker at 22, from what I've seen seems a good well rounded striker. Could be an excellent partner for Clarke (providing Clarke's still around) which I should imagine he will be. Shouldn't imagine he'd break the bank either. Worth a punt imo.

Wednesday are being linked funnily enough! They're manager said he was going to buy more British based players I think. I hope they don't get him, he would be a great signing. If only we'd signed him last summer, but to be fair he never scored loads for Luton.

Pig fan I know has said that the Pigs have already lined up a couple of German players, on pre-contract agreements (I assume, subject to medicals and such like)

They never learn of so. If you managed in Germany you would think you'd sign German players essentially who've done well at other teams. If they'e going down the all foreign route again then they're either doing it on the cheap or the manager doesn't know enough about British based players. Marriot would be a great signing though. Can't see Wednesday affording him to be honest.

We have no excuse for missing Marriott. Wilder knew all about him, and despite his average goalscoring record for Luton he was clearly a promising player. But we took a punt on Nathan Thomas for not much less than Marriott cost Peterborough. Now we can forget it, he'll cost at least £4m. Just hope he doesn't go to Wednesday.

Didn’t someone say a while back he is a Blade? Not that that would count for much if we can only offer £50k in transfer fees.

Peterborough are close to sign Matty Godden, which suggests they have bagged their replacement for Marriott already, he could have a club lined up already. Can't see it being us though.

Would be a cracking signing and just what we need. However they’ll want 5x more than we can afford

I reckon we can afford 3m, he will probably go for around that. I just think it would take us 28 bids to even get up to that value.

It definitely won’t be us. We don’t know who’s running the joint or who’s replacing Wilder yet so we can’t really put bids in for anyone. :)

Pigs, Forest and Rangers are the current clubs interested according to Sky

No mention of us

Perhaps we'll nip in and steal the show now the two at the top have temporarily buried the hatchet and given Chris a £20m kitty

Way out of our budget, won't be leaving for less than 5 million.
The money we hardly spent over the last two transfer windows and the TV money for finishing in the top half this year.
We spent 2m on a right back in league 1, there's no reason to think we couldn't splash at least that in a striker this summer.
But to be honest, it's based on very little really.

I cannot see us being him for that sort of money. I would expect us to try and get a player like him before his move to Pboro.

You probably need to take a look at the accounts to understand there is no stockpile of cash to be used to fund £5m purchases. Who knows what the owners agreed by way of funding for next season's budget but I very much doubt it will be any more than is absolutely necessary to keep Utd competitive and CW satisfied until the ownership wrangling is resolved (which if it is in litigation is likely to take some time).

The money doesn't stack up: we're a loss making club so any money we "hardly spent" on transfers will have gone towards other costs.

Also think you're over-estimating TV revenue.

In short, us not spending huge sums in the last few years isn't an indicator that we're about to...

I think our transfer policy has changed a lot since the Brayford signing.

How on Earth can the Pigs afford to splash out 5m when they need to drastically cut their losses this season?

Can't see them signing anything other than freebies until they flog a few first.

Remember reading some stuff from posh fans saying although Marriott gets goals he misses alot of chances before getting them. We have strikers like him in that sense, we need someone who can create and score his own goals. For when were not dominating games, and not creating alot of chances.
