Hmmmm ...... the point you're missing here is that Tufty isn't just our manager ........ he's also a fan as well and is rightly pissed off that the owners are having a childish pissing competition at the time when they should be selling their wives into slavery to put some much needed investment into the first team squad ....... preferably before January 2019.
He probably has overstepped the mark in terms of what the board would like him to say ....... but personally I'm tired of managers over the last 30 years who have kept quiet, toed the party line, and been sacked / left the Club when appropriate investment was withheld by the Board.
If nothing else, Tufty has flagged up the elephant in the room ....... that we have a relegation budget currently ........ he massively (forgive me) over performed this season, on a minimal budget with very little to spend on transfers.
My take on the situation is that Tufty is very concerned that we will start slipping backwards, rather than capitalising on a great first season back in the Championship and pushing on. This is very likely to happen whilst our owner(s) are more concerned with using transfer windfall money to cover losses than investing in a few Championship quality players.
