Each.

Neither could honestly be regarded as "championship quality" when we signed them, imo. Both players have been somewhat resurrected.

Isn’t that the same for every player though? Nobody can be said to be a championship quality player until they’ve proven that they are.

Owner meeting put back to 2nd August :D. Some people are still wondering why CW spoke out, this change answers part of it.

That would be typical...and then they'll announce a 100m investment deal....

There are plenty that have 'proven' themselves though, hence their high transfer fees.

Names like Scott Hogan, Britt Assombalonga and Matej Vyrda spring to mind.

None of which are realistic targets for us. My point is that it’s entirely possible to get Championship quality players without spending £10m, it’s Wilder’s job to find them, like he did with Clarke, O’Connell and Fleck

Oh I agree completely, and I prefer it as a stratergy.

I was just trying to point out that anyone asking for 'proven, championship, quality players' will be somewhat dissapointed

Is there owt in the Cardiff squad that will be available, uncle Neil might sell us cheap.

Sol Bamba. Been missing one like him since Morgan retired. Can't see him being good enough for the Prem but would do a job for us. Would also probably get him on the cheap due to his age so ticks all the boxes.

Would rather Matt Clarke from Pompey. 6ft 2 dominant centre half, loads of upside.

Yep, him too but was thinking more along the line of immediate needs rather than one of our famous "ones for the future".

I had no idea the Transsfer window closed on 3rd / 4th August, that’s a blow to us with what’s currently happening.

“Lucky to have him” and the “Invisible Prince” need to sort their differences out ASAP or we are screwed.

And that's the problem mate...with the likes of Bristol City and Cardiff spending 6m on strikers, not to mention the proper big boys in the league, we are reliant on Wilder pulling more rabbits out of hats, if he's still here!

I'm confused. How can the transfer window be open when the season hasn't ended? Surely there could be some shenanigans around the play-off clubs?\1

I would hope that both directors have agreed some kind of budget for Chris for this season, whatever the result of their squabbles. Even if that is fairly small until matters are resolved.

I do worry that this whole situation works in favour of any club wanting to sign our players.

Is it pulling rabbits out of hats or is it being good at what he’s paid to do? If he’s better than most at it he’ll get paid more

We should look for players in foreign markets and preferably not ones that most clubs would look at.

There is some fine up and coming talent in Burkina Faso, Laos, Kazakhstan and Iran. A bloke down the pub was telling me.

Good question...both I guess, it's clearly what he's paid to do but if he can find strikers for peanuts who are as good as ones that cost £6m that's a rabbit out of a hat in my book.

Look at the top 6 this year, most if not all had players in the team that cost over 6m and 4 of them had players that cost over 10m. I'm not expecting us to compete at that level but we can't even afford a couple of million.

Not that you're wrong about how much such a player would cost but Madine shouldn't be used as any sort of yardstick. Nobody but Warnock would have paid that much for him
Exactly what i was going to say, a typical Warnock signing; the unnecessary purchase of a striker (although he's set a new baseline for himself by wasting £6m on him).
