Just seen on Sunderland forum that 2 people in frame for job. 1 had accepted but now put on ice as interest in another person. Both offered enough to drop down a division. Sky bet have it correct. Sorry don't know how to copy over

Which forum and what was the thread title?

OMG

Got to about page 20 to read this

"Job essentially offered to and accepted by one person and then subsequently put on ice as they have moved for another. Salary on offer is significant and is enough for either of the individuals to drop down a division. Skybet are spot on with their odds."

And that's it.

The post, and others made by Billy Bob seems to be quite often called out as BS

I see things vastly differently. This season we've had a bottom five budget which was contingent on the 6.5-7 million brought in by the Maguire, Walker and Murphy clauses. With no such monies coming in this season, the club will likely have to sell its best players to cover the losses. That's before we've signed anyone. The impasse must end or an interim agreement must be reached, or SUFC and any manager will be lambs to the slaughter in the championship. We will have less spending power than we did even this season, and could feasibly have the lowest budget in the league. Maybe if we got a huge fee for a player and reinvested some, and used the rest to pay off the annual losses, we'd have a chance.Every over achievement this year was predicated on the unexpected money coming in.Wilder's the bloke on the titanic telling everybody there's an iceberg on the horizon. If he goes, he will leave via the front door, whilst being vindicated in most Blades' minds pretty quickly imo.
You could say the temporary decline of the club is neither here nor there, compared with the ownership issue, we would eventually be back. I just think he's using his leverage to try and provoke a resolution that prevents the decline.
Fire exit with ched leading the way

I am pretty sure it was the same forum that claimed Wilder was going to resign the day after the Bristol City game.

What I found interesting is that the poster is claiming that Appleton was being offered more money than Wilder ( or it implied that is the case)

I must be the only person that is a little bit irked by some of Wilder’s recent comments. Not so much that I disagree with them. He’s certainly right that the ownership situation needs to be ironed out and that additional support is needed to move the club on.....

What I’m a little put off by is the general mard arse nature of his interviews and strong inferences that he will walk if things aren’t arranged in the way he would like. The ownership situation hasn’t changed since he walked in and he’s always known that under this regime he’s working to a limited budget. He in fact openly declared his acceptance of that earlier in the season.

Much as we all want to be successful with Chris in charge I actually think he needs to understand that he’s not in charge of the club and that it’s not his money that has been invested in it. He’s paid by the football club to manage the team and he does it well, so get on with it and stop making waves.

I know that he can do no wrong in some supporters’ eyes and I understand why but he needs to wind his neck in about this subject.
WTF !!!

Why the hell is a manager pleading for some communication from the owners to give him guidance so he can plan for the future is 'mard arse nature' or throwing out his toys from the pram in anyway?

Wilder has always said the he will do the best he can with whatever tools and resources he is given. He is asking for clarity... not bundles of cash. He has also said that he does not want to risk the future of the club by taking big financial gambles.

Luckily the majority of fans appreciate the good that Chris and his team has done. I personally feel that some people should 'wind their neck in' and appreciate the fact that we've got Chris fighting our corner at such a tumultuous time.

But he didint have to say it on the radio.

By doing so it is clearly an attempt to put pressure on the owners. However he doesn't really deny that in the interview, I think he's really just doing what he says he's doing, speaking honestly about his opinion and feelings of the the question asked.

It so so frustrating that just as things were going so well, our owners somehow conspire to find a way to fuck it up.

If this all ends in tears there'll be hell to pay. Mccabe better hope the outcome is favourable. In the end, he sold the prince half the club for a quid and brought the prince in. "this is the internationalisation of Sheffield United"

He could be culpable for a thunderbastard Robson moment.....

Excellent post. There may be an ownership dispute going on but CW has to manage the day to day issues of letting players go and/or renewing others whilst at the same time trying to get replacements in. Thats without having to deal with constant questions from players, agents and staff about what is happening and where is the Club going. If the powers that be aren't keeping him up to date and giving him some direction then his reaction is fully justifiable.

Whatever our opinions on the matter though mate, he ain’t in charge. He’s an employee and the owners are entitled to run it as they see fit within a structure they created. He can offer them football advice but beyond that it’s not for him to make demands.

He said all of that at the start of the season when things were going well. He’s changed his mind and is implying far more different things in his recent interviews and I’m far from the only person that interpreted it that way.

Everyone appreciates what he has done but he’s done it under the same structure he has in place today. Nothing has changed, other than his general demeanour and comments which lead many of us to believe he may walk away unless a long pre-existing ownership situation changes all of a sudden.

Try not to get too emotional about the manager. We’ve had heroes before, they came they went. We’ll have others. I want Chris to stay but putting further doubt in the minds of supporters and players helps no one. He’s gone about it in the wrong way.

Quite right - never even try to improve things just in case it fails.
After all everyone was happy before the Prince came on the scene

I take your point about not getting too emotional about any employee of the club. Inevitably they will come and go and the club will live on.

The 'pre-existing ownership situation' has changed because now both the partners are looking to buy the other out and the harmony is being threatened and the future clouded. I get the impression that the co-owners want to take the club down differing paths, which will bring differing risks and challenges.

Because Wilder is a fervent fan as well as manager, he carries the weight of responsibility of both roles on his shoulders. He has stated recently that he is looking for clarity and direction and not huge bundles of cash that might gamble the club's future.

So did they meet?

Or did that really important priority thing happen that meant that they had to continue to let the club slide down the shitter?

Supposed to be a tentative meeting this week dependent on other events which probably means whose going to cover the cost of the tea and biscuits.

I've been told that they are meeting in Manchester on Wednesday.. ... when the Prince arrives from the desert.

So have they banged each other yet or not?

That should sort it....wonder who came out on top???
McCabe has been training with Curtis, the kidney swing is coming on a treat!!

He has also strongly implied that he will leave unless the situation is resolved. I disapprove of the way he’s dealing with it. It’s also not for him to stick his nose in. The club doesn’t belong to him.

Quite right. Making threats to your boss rarely ends well. Tufty’s mate, the daft nobody of an estate agent Witless, ought to embark upon a period of silence as well.

" Tell the truth about the clubs spending plans Levy " Pochettino

" Benitez says he won't commit to a deal unless Ashleys plans match his own ambitions"

" I want to change things but I don't think the owners do " Moyes.

All from todays press. Its what Managers do talk the press about their frustrations at Board level. Why is CW any different he wants direction at a time when there is none. Hopefully the two owners this week will see the sense of what he is saying and put their personal differences to one side.

In reality CW is and always been a fan of SUFC. He's invested a lot in the Blades, as a player, manager and lifelong fan. To dismiss his right to comment as "sticking his nose in where it shouldn't be" is insulting. I have avoided making any comment on the ownership situation because I have as little inside knowledge as I suspect you do. Maybe you should take your own advice?
