Wilder done deal (apparently)

Crabster - If Wilder DOES leave it will based solely on how much he's increasing his salary as opposed to anything happening behind the scenes here.

If Wilder is on c£10k a week (£500k a year) here - yet is offered £50k a week (£2.5m a year) - its life changing money. Not just for him but it sets him, his kids, his grandkids up for life. He could earn in two seasons, what he could earn in a decade here.

Wouldn't begrudge him that at all, but if he ever fudges it and says it's about ambition etc, I'd lose all the respect for him that he's built up over two fantastic years..

But he WILL say it's about ambition etc. Nobody ever states that it's about cold hard cash. I adore Wilder for what he's done but he'll never be honest enough to say it's about cold hard cash.

As well as can be expected mate. The ongoing Cancer issue has caused a Hernia, this went a funny colour today but all seems ok. The fluid the Cancer produces seems to have got into her lungs and heart though.
Fucksake......all our best matey from the Mendonca clan

Perversely, he'd go up in my estimation even if he left us in the lurch - if he came out and said: 'it was a fuck load of cash'

That's why I'm pretty sanguine about it. If he leaves, it's for the cash. Nothing else. GLTTL.

That won't play well with Sunlan, so he won't say it.

And I think you're underestimating the amount of truth in his concern at the chaos he could face if he stays. Given no cash and no direction, it's a hiding to nothing. So the big money up North will look more attractive. Or any other offer he gets for that matter.

The trouble is, in order to be consistant, I'd personally have to apply the Warnock Rules. After all, I loved Colin until 2005 when his greed overruled any affiliation he claimed to have for the club.
I've always thought the world of Chris Wilder, but this would be another illusion shattered if he was just like anyone else. I should be older and wiser by now but there you go.

I'm completely in the dark, but I refuse to believe the chaos behind the scenes is any worse now than last Summer.

All that's really different is the £££ power of having a decent season on the Championship and a Big Club in League One wanting a steady pair of hands...

Again I don't quite agree. The fact they've gone to litigation seems to back that up.

And the second season will be harder than this. With key players ageing it really needs money chucking at it (purely in my opinion). Otherwise we could go the way of Barnsley.

To be honest, I'd view it in the same way as a mate getting a well paid job.

I'd be jealous, but ultimately (and given time) proud of what he's managed to secure.

No need for malice. Unless it's Warnock. He is a cunt.

up in north yorkshire for the weekend and a guy from Sunderland who saw me and my lads in blades tops has just asked what the manager is like. He claims to be in the know and says that Wilder is resigning after the game tomorrow and has already done the deal to move to Sunderland. He was very sure of himself and apologised as he walked off. Hope that’s bolx
It is Bollox

If CW leaves for better money I'll lose all faith in they loyalty of any future Blades-supporting player, manager or club employee. My spirits are dampened now because he refused to rule out Sunderland. Even if he stays I think he's lost some trust. Sad days for me. It would be like a girlfriend who professed undying love to you dumping your arse for a richer bloke.

Bring it on Chris, do it asap or commit to the Blades

I saw him supporting us when he was a Rotherham player. That was at Everton in May 1993.

If Sunderland have offered him the salary he couldnt refuse then it does look like he knew about Stewart Donald's plans for a long time

Silent. If we wish to be cynical about these things we lose our reason for being there.

Wilder is my last chance. I am 70 years old and this is my only chance of building on what we have between us Blades.

There is some vague opportunity for yet another foreign owner to do well, maybe even challenge the bottom 10 of the Premier League; certainly no higher than that if it's just cash and 'advisors'; the type who recommend Allardyce, Eriksenn, Pellegrini, Carvallhial, The Everton clown Koeman? etc. etc. All rich men, no results.

I am Wilder. Wilder is me. We are proper Blades. We'd give our hind teeth to put United up there.

That said, we are from S2/ Stocksbridge. We are not prepared to live a lie. That's Sheffield. that's where wilder is right now. He smells a rat.

Bollocks to those fans who question Wilder's intentions.

He's a Blade. He was there amongst those 250 at Wrexham midweek, all those years ago. Wet and windy Wrexham. Know what struck me that night? He loved every minute - watching United, being with his mates.

That's why I support him. He's 'one of us'. Don't tell me he is chasing Sunderland cash. He's a Blade.

Recently I asked if Coutts attended all United's games all the time he was injiured. Wilder would have done. If Coutts did, brilliant!

Let's not kid ourselves. Money talks for 99.9% of people but it's not black and white.

How much extra turns your head?

Until any facts are truly known, and it's likely they won't be universally because those loyal yo each party will spin it to suit their side of things, then it's all conjecture.

What if Wilder thinks the Prince may win out and he believes he may have other ideas about taking the club forward?

I'm trying to keep my powder dry despite the growing rumours, but it's all so fucking Sheffield United.

If this does all pan out I truly believe there needs to be a huge change at the club. How it happens I've no idea.

Believe it or not, Warnock has also been among the away fans chanting the name of the club and those stood at the back of the Kop. We'd like to think being a Blade means a lot, a lifetime thing. But how much does being a Blade mean if you've got to choose between half a million quid and two and a half million quid?

Some fans don't seem to live in the real world. It's as though being a Blade means you automatically turn down life changing finance and potential career enhancement to stay at the club you support.

The same club that as much as it pains me to say it, always seems to find a way to be perennially skint compared to it's peers and has achieved very little above par for absolute decades.

If he goes he goes fuck him hope not but if he does all this bollox about ownership problems is total bullshit and he's created this smokescreen to fulfill his dreams of a bigger bank balance end off,we will see.

You could be right but personally I doubt it.

The ownership wrangle has been common knowledge for months, if the finer points aren't.

The Van Winkel stuff appears to have caused friction.

There's as much chance imho that if Wilder leaves it will be a considered decision based on his feelings about either the outcome or protraction of this supposed litigation.

New rumour...........Repsol are trying to buy McCabe and the Prince out, and they want Wilder as gaffer.........our new away kits are orange/blue/white and there are a lot of honda accords sat in cherry street as we speak............so someone's dogs, auntie mables, budgies, friends, neighbours, cat says anyway..

Some interesting points raised on all sides on this thread.

The more I think about this, the more I have a feeling that Wilder's biggest issue in the midst of all of this uncertainty, is a fear of 'potential failure' down the line with his club as a result of not being able to improve the team as we look to the future.

Whilst I don't welcome to hear these links with the Sunderland job, nor do I understand the rumoured interest in taking over what seems to be a poisoned chalice, I don't doubt his love for the Blades. We all saw what it meant to him to get us promoted. We all saw what it meant to him to drink a Peroni or two with the lads on the open-top bus towards the Town Hall. We all saw what it meant to him to punch the air with delight when Mark Duffy silenced three sides of Hillsborough when we beat them 4-2. None of that was contrived or false, that was genuine affection for Sheffield United Football club that all of us share.

We all acknowledged in the Warnock days that the drawback with having a supporter of your club in charge can bring different problems that having an impartial manager doesn't. Wilder is no exception to the rule here. Problems such as irrational decision-making, comments post-match and boardroom unrest such as recent times contributes to what we have heard from the manager, after the Hull away performance and the last couple of games.

Who knows what is going on upstairs. The lack of noise is concerning, but Wilder as First-team manager should not be having to act as Spokesman for Sheffield United Football Club. We will all find out in due course, but for Wilder to increase the pressure on those upstairs to sort their act out suggests he doesn't hold much hope for progress and potential further investment in the side next season.

This isn’t the move for Chris.

He took the Oxford job, a club in the Conference whose natural position was at least one league higher up.

He went to Northampton in the same league to go to a club with backing at a point to get them one league higher up.

He went to United, a club sitting below their natural level to go to a club with backing of sorts, wage bill, to take them one league higher.

There is no doubt his stock has continued to rise or that Sunderland are below their natural level but he’s never felt a need to drop a division to advance himself.

Anyone of the relegated PL clubs could fancy Wilder.

In a year’s time, he could be a PL manager. If he goes to Sunderland at best he will be a newly promoted manager from League One.

He was already that in June 2017. Why would he move to be no further forward by June 2019 if he wants his career to progress?

There’s no need for him to make such a move right now.

I don’t mind wilder leaving for a better job, but leaving for Sunderland

If he did this he’s no blade to me. Yes yes there is board room shit, but don’t kiss our badge again and don’t come back when it goes tits up, because it will.

There is every need for malice. This isn’t a mate and this is the club you support. This means more than anything. It’s the way he’s done it. We look like complete fucking mugs again and this is a million times worse than Bruce leaving to Huddersfield.

He can stop calling himself a blade for me, one of our own?
