The odds make me feel a bit worried. 8/13 on WOW ................concerning for sure. There is generally no smoke without fire.

I appears Sunderland are definitely interested, based on the various media reports. But we still hold the ability to reject their approach which could be dangerous if Wilder wants to speak to them. I don't think we'll know much until Sunderland are officially taken over and this looks like going into next week at the earliest.

I am worried but also what will be will be. I was hoping for more news today from Wilder's pre match press conference but it seems that hasn't happened yet, maybe tomorrow.

Hopefully in the meantime we are able to sort our own house out, even if that doesn't mean a conclusion to the clubs ownership, maybe at least some form of clarification to Wilder on where we're going, budget etc. Wilder might already know this but he obviously wasn't happy last weekend.

Wok this way? Actually that's Ranmoor!

Unlikely to be a restaurant in Fulwood, unless its not licensed. Its Quaker land. Unless things have changed there's no pub or licensed restaurant there.

All a bit worrying Booker.

The bookies rarely get the odds wrong and at 8/13 on it seems as if they might just know something?

Whatever happened to common sense?

If you actually think Wilder would leave us to drop a division then you're mentally insane.

I had a similar thought and then I cast my mind back to early in 1988-9 when Howard Wilkinson left the Pigs (top half of Division One) for Leeds (bottom 6 in division 2) in order "to better myself".

Lots of people laughed at this comment. Leeds of course were champions 3 and a bit seasons later.

Wilder also of course left an Oxford team in the playoffs mid-season when they were in with a shout of promotion, to join bottom of the same league Northampton...

Aye I agree mate, I would guess he's number one choice for Sunderland but ultimately I don't believe Wilder will leave for Sunderland based on their approach. Its what's going on at our place and it appears that Wilder is in total limbo in regards to plans for next season. Hopefully we'll know more from the Bristol pre match press conference which I assume will be this morning.

I heard a worrying one yesterday...
Wilder to West Brom after the final game of the season
Gary Bower (yeah i had to google him too) being interviewed to replace him...

Blackpool boss. Took them up last season in difficult circumstances to say the least.

Unusual Gary Bowyer fact: he played in the same team as his father, Ian (beloved by older Blades for single handedly relegating the Pigs in 1970) when they were both at Hereford in 1990. I believe that to be the second and last father-son combination to play together in the same game. Alec and David Herd were the first, for Stockport in the 1950s.

If Wilder goes, that me done. A bit of an emotional reaction, but I'm absolutely fed up of United been consistently held back due to off the field issues.

I know McCabes heart is in the right place, but he hasn't half dropped some bollocks during his reign, and given where we are now, giving Wilder an excuse to leave would be up there with the best of them

I thought " No Man Was Bigger Than The Club"?
It seems all 3 parties, CW,KM,HRH are all putting themselves above The Club and it's welfare. All of this only damages us.
No one wins, especially the fans.
Maybe CW has found out that HRH is going to gain control and get his own man in? Rip Van Winkel maybe? He might just be taking stock knowing this could well happen.
I certainly hope not.

Hope this is all rubbish . However I fear this may be true. Bookies are normally right

They're usually right about taking money off mugs. Just look at some of the other 'contenders' - Jaap Stam, Mick McCarthy, Paul Cook, Phil Parkinson FFS. No wonder CW looks the best option but I'd imagine the Sunderland fans would be underwhelmed. They're suddenly minted and want a manager who is almost certain to get the Black Cats promoted next season and CW hasn't got the track record or experience of buying and handling big-money signings. Most of those on the list are fence-sitters. I'm surprised Tony Mowbray isn't in there, or Darren Ferguson. And where's Adolf Hitler? I'm sure some idiot would 'go for a punt'...

Alternatively, Wilder is the only “candidate” who has been in the news, their chairman has publicly said he wants him, and a disturbing amount of fans are clearly thinking “no smoke without fire” - so everyone has bet on Wilder to be the new manager, which means the bookies have massively lowered the odds to try and attract money on other candidates so that they’re covered. Pretty standard practice to juice the market so that whatever happens, they make £££.

For what it’s worth, the idea of him leaving for Sunderland is absolutely mental to me. But if you are adamant that he’s going then at least wait for Wilder’s odds to drop back a bit in a few days so you can make some cash ;)

The biggest reason to worry is that out of United and Sunderland, I think that Sunderland are more likely to get back to the Premier League before United. If Wilder thinks the same, throw in a massive pay rise and he could be gone.

Hopefully that's just me being pessimistic!

There's one just off Crimicar Lane (top end), but I'd say that's Lodge Moor.

Maybe his friend has purposely said a "Chinese Takeaway in Fulwood" as an oblique reference to not actually seeing him; given that one technically doesn't exist?

Generally you're right where the bookies are concerned but not in the case of this kind of market, it doesn't take much money to force the price down. There have also been some shenanigans in this market in the past which you can find if you google around so I wouldn't trust it one bit.

Crossed my mind that they might need to spread their risk.

Fulwood Road though. Then again he didn't say takeaway.

I think these two posts sum up the position perfectly. You only have to look to last year's General Election when all the polls told May that she would obliterate Labour and have a 100 seat majority in the Commons. Look what happened there. Punters are not always right.

as I recall, brexit was around 9/1 on polling day and Trump something similar in the week before the US election, both two horse races. Those 2 markets should have been 1,000,000 % more accurate than the betting for the Sunderland job :)

We need to put our house in order to keep the best manager we have had for years.

We would be crazy fools to allow Wilder to be seduced by the likes of Sunderland.

The board needs to show some ambition to keep our manager happy.

HH

Good luck with that one.
