Wasn't this something that was rumoured a few years ago, it's something I seem to remember.

Sorry if it's already been mentioned but can't be arsed to read the whole thing.

Did Red Bull invest in a uk club?

Just imagine BDTRBS

If they do buy an English club I would expect them to do similar to what they did in Germany, they went for Leipzig as it was an area with a large catchment of potential fans who they thought would buy into watching Bundesliga football. Although based in Leipzig they pull in fans from a large surrounding area that has been starved of top flight football for years. They have been successful in getting crowds in but there is very little evidence of RB in the city itself, I was there in Feb (to see LOK) and one night went in a bar where they had pennants of every first and second division club except RB, when I asked why I was told "Nobody would come in here if we had one". Things will probably change over the next 30 years or so but the Lok fans were very much dismissive of them and almost refuse to acknowledge their existence.

I could see them buying MK on the potential of attracting fans of football to watch a club and build a fanbase over time in much the same way. The alternative would possibly be going for a current non-league club in an area where fans have not had top flight football for years. If they do they will be successful as they throw huge amounts of money at it but they will bend rules as far as they can as they have done with Leipzig.

So Red Bull sponsor 2 F1 teams, 4 or 5 football teams and any number of other "extreme" sporting events.
How have they made so much money just by selling a fizzy drink with caffeine in it?

and a MotoGP team and anything to do with KTM

MK and Red Bull would be a match made in plastic heaven.

Although that said Red Bull usually only invest if they intend on winning things. They hate losing and are still making noises about quitting F1 unless they get a factory engine deal.

Would something like this be accepted by the fans?

Not a fan of the corporate world but compared to some of the cranks that have bought clubs (Leeds, Cardiff, Hull) - Red Bull wouldn't be the worst.

Maybe McCabe should make the call??

Just thought I'd bump this...

It's quarter finals in the Europa League and Red Bull have Salzburg and Leipzig playing. Salzburg have won 8 of the last 12 Austrian titles and Leipzig have come from nowhere to finish 2nd in Bundesliga and have a CL campaign...

Would people want this success if it meant changing our name to RB Sheffield United or Red Bull Blades?

What about if we don't have to change our name AT ALL, but they make us play in white shirts red shorts?

If they arent renaming us to Chengdu Blades they can piss off!

Red Bull don’t tend to go for teams with major history. Or at least didn’t in Germany it’s actually really interesting story/process the Leipzig story is unreal. Wouldn’t want them near my Blades but as mentioned MK Are perfect. Infrastructure in place, decent Stadium, no history. No residence. And I’d imagine quite cheap to buy plus decent sized catchment area

I'd rather have my genitalia hooked up to a car battery while having a Tabasco-covered cactus repeatedly shoved up my arse than sacrifice our history just for a bit of success. We might have turned a corner under Wilder but I would have said this even back in the Adkins days.

RB aren't even the biggest team in Salzburg.. that's Austria Salzburg and they're in division 3 (just joking). RB really shafted the original team and keep doing so (point deductions for obscure stadium misdemeanours).. they made them change from purple to red.

And now have pretended to cut ties with them. Despite still being firmly in charge still. Just looked them up again and didn’t realise they are serial sell outs. They’ve changed the club name to that of sponsors a number of times before too

As Baldrick would say...''Me too!'

Imagine a new owner coming in and promising the earth. In exchange, we'd have to write off our history, overcharge the fans, lie repeatedly, change our shirts and have the owners' name plastered everywhere. 'Chansiri', anyone?

Semi finals of Europa last night. Knocked Lazio out

This is the modern world, get used to it, it’s going to happen maybe a few years but we will be taken over, it’s the small minded socialist attitude that makes Sheffield the biggest smallest city in the U.K., small minded backward attitude, if they’re willing or anyone to come in and invest for the benefit of both club and company and on the way play some exciting football against some of the best teams, isn’t that what it’s all about. You don’t see city complaining, and they have some of the most passionate down to earth fans in the country, you can be working class and have ambition.

I don't think anyone has an issue with investment per se - but Red Bull stylee investment can fuck right off. I don't know what socialism has to do with the price of fish but if you'd be happy to see our club re-named and re-branded in order to get mega bucks then you're from a different ilk of football supporter to me.

We would have the same kit and badge as another 5 clubs, no thanks
