Happy to be corrected here but IIRC this WAS an example of a player’s form nosediving after some contract talks - didn’t Kabba’s contract suddenly become a spikey subject immediately after that 1-1 draw with Leeds? I feel like he said something in his post-match interview about how he wanted a better contract after his (brilliant) start to the season.
After which he scored one more league goal that season and gave me two of my angriest moments when he missed late sitters against Reading and Hull at home (although in mitigation, Unsworth scored from the resulting corner in the latter)
You’re right, though thinking back to the derby I think Warnock uncharacteristically went all out attack with HMS, Webber and Kabba as a front three, and Kabba was unlucky not to get a couple. His form did drop though, and it’s tough not to link it back to that post-match interview. His career never really recovered either.
