Warnock

Couldn’t care less what Warnock does. I suppose to those who care about his past allegiance to our club, it was a bit out of order. Perhaps it was but does it honestly surprise anyone that he would do something like that?

No one outside of S2 liked him when he managed us. Since he left it hasn’t been hard to see why. I was always indifferent towards him, even when he was our manager.

Has Warnock ever professed to being a massive blade .I know we were his boyhood team and right up till he got the job he always referred to United as us and we
But since he left I've never heard him say anything of the sort
We're "Sheffield " now!

He took 5 years with us to go up.

Aye but we had very little money until the board backed him and then we went up. I think to use the 5 years against him is very harsh?!

I loved him when he was in charge of us and I think I'd probably give him 9/10 for his time with us. I loved how he played up to the crowd and stated his love for the club as a Sheffielder and as a self confessed United fan. But then it feels very hollow after his actions since - namely the Wednesday flirtation. Yesterday is just another indication that Warnock isn't a Unitedite in my view. I do think as fans of the club that people should be able to express their annoyance and/or disappointment without fellow fans thinking they're being soft or over sensitive etc. Not saying you said that Patrick but a few have and at the end of the day we all see things differently. I'm not losing sleep over it either though!

Bassett had no money and got us to top flight in 2 seasons.

I basically agree with the last half of that. I’m just a bit surprised that people would react that way to him fist pumping the away end. He’s always come across as being his own biggest fan and I don’t think he gives a shite about Sheffield United. Aside from his time with us I would doubt he ever has cared that much. Just the way it comes across to me, maybe he would disagree. I think the way it ended at the Lane left a bitter taste in his mouth and any positive feelings he may have had for us were tainted by that.

If he were as big a Blade as many claimed he was, none of what happened before would matter. If I had scored against United or had managed a winning team against United, I wouldn’t have celebrated. That’s me though. He’s entitled to do as he wishes as he’s not our manager and ultimately I don’t care. I’m just at a lost as to why some people do.

I was never a Warnock fan, he was and still is so far up his own arse he can taste brylcreem. The disaster that was the Premier League season, one up front every away game, spending money on absolute fucking shit that he then didn’t even play. Wanting the Portsmouth job and unsettling the team, playing Jagielka at right back in the most important game in a generation. Fuck him, fuck his fat ponce mate Blackwell and fuck Madine. I’d rather watch a girder rust than watch the turgid fucking 80’s wank hoofball meathead football that he serves up every other week. He’s not fit to lick Wilders shoes. Rant over.

In his book he talks about regularly standing on the Kop and seeing us away at Arsenal. We were certainly the football club he supported as a young man. He may also be a classless big-nosed twat, but plenty of my Blades-supporting mates are twats too. He's on the verge of a remarkable achievement, promotion to the top flight with four separate clubs, has any manager done that before? No surprise if he's a bit chuffed and of course he celebrated.

Good post.
He did the fist pump of a man that knows a large promotion bonus is almost in the bag.
Even if it was through a spozzy last minute Hail Mary hoof. They all count.

Aye he did and that was why he was voted the best ever manager for the club. But Warnock also got us to two semi finals and 80 points which was a great achievement on a small budget too.

It's not a done job yet Fulham are after them with an easier run in than Cardiff.
Could go to the wire as the play off situation.

IF Carling did play-offs and the football gods woke up and realised that they'd butt-fu**ed us quite a bit over the last 20 years .........

Scenario: Fulham catch Cardiff and take 2nd spot, we sneak into 5th as Leon & Billy find their goal-scoring boots tucked under the settee at home ......

Play-off final 2018 ...... Cardiff vs Blades at Wembley ...... Blades play Cardiff off the pitch again and its 0-0 on 89 mins .....

Big Jack goes up at a corner and shoulder charges ( fairly) the fuc**ng washing machine at a vital moment and he collides with the post, breaking his leg. Leaves the pitch on a stretcher crying with 40,000 Blades showering him with derision ( no, not 180,000 ..... we're not massive :D)

90 mins +3 ....... Duffy sidesteps another wild challenge, clips in a beautifully flighted pass to Leon, who takes it on his chest, lays it back to Billy who rifles it into the top corner from 16 yards to send the sexy RAWW delirious.

Referee blows his whistle for full time ....... Tufty stands in front of Warnock and Blackwell and fist pumps for England ....... followed by running round the stands celebrating with his fellow Blades ....... whilst Warnock & Blackwell cry over their lost bonus ...... o_O:rolleyes::D

Come on carling ........

Not in the book though. In pursuit of sales (his royalties), he allowed the publishers to use 'United' to refer to Newton Heath Lancashire and Yorkshire Railwaymen.

....and there ladies and gentlemen, is the definitive statement.

Warnock did a good job on not much money he got more support than Bassett did at the beginning.
Bassett sold June to bring in some dosh to change the team, didn't work at first as we were relegated, that was a temporary
Blip as the next 5 years were great.
Bassett had a magnetism about him and created a great team spirit.
Warnock in comparison although a good manager is all about him first club 2ND.
Wilder is as close to Bassett as we will ever get but he has a playing ethic which is way beyond any manager we have had since John Harris.

My dream too Darth could it happen ?
YES !!!!!!!!

That would be 'Kuhl' and 'Brum' then?

Always liked Martin Kuhl as a tough midfielder and our bit of the kop had a song for him. Somewhat lyrically limited ("Oh Martin Kuhl, oh Martin Kuhl.....") it fitted the upbeat chourus melody of 'Daddy Cool' by top chart combo Boney M, who went on to provide tunes for may other terrace favourites.

Yep sorry Coco I got the spelling wrong.
I think we got 200,000 for him and Bassett spent it wisely

We went to Watford and got Heatherstone and Agana and then the balance went to Donny in the summer for a raw young gangly black striker. Francis Joeseph came in the summer too (on a free?) but got injured in the first game, so the young kid got his chance. I wonder what ever happened to him.....

Its not because a manager did it against us. Its because an ex manager who always professed to be a proper Blade and always played up to it, then celebrates in what some see as an over the top celebration, others like yourself see it as fine. To put it another way, it's a bit like an ex girlfriend you still have feelings for and who thought still had a soft spot for you kissing their new boy friend in front of you. We all know that they'll be kissing the new boyfriend but we'd rather not see it right in front of us when they could just go round the corner and have the same snog!

That's my best attempt of an analogy anyway! I'm not saying Warnock should have celebrated with the Cardiff fans out of the ground, I'm saying that some of our fan base thought he might show a little more tact or decorum because it is his old club and he has always said he is or was a Blade. It doesn't surprise me though and I think any opportunity for Warnock to get one over McCabe is a factor also. We move on, and I don't begrudge him for celebrating but it just proves to me that he isn't the Blade he professes to be, but then again that all was proven when he flirted with the Wednesday job. That was the turning point for me and I've never seen him the same since to be honest, but I honestly don't think Warnock gives two hoots about his relationship with the Blades is like, once he left us, we simply became just another club. That's how I view it anyway and his actions speak louder than any words he ever said about being a Blade, although he spoke truly from the heart when he said why not manage Wednesday its a job at the end of the day and I'm a football manager, they'll soon forget my past when we win a few games!

It doesn't mean I don't like him or respect him but he's not a Blade as far as I'm concerned, he's a good manager but blade? Nah, no way.
Quality post sir
