Shows how the others’ form has dipped too, it could be one of those seasons where the 6th placed team comes from nowhere!

We could have won also and made no ground on Derby or Boro .. Millwall , Boro,& Preston all still got to come to ours also ... could be a shite site worse ???

Seems like nobody wants to get in the play off's doesn't it.

It's going to the wire this one. Derby and Boro both capable of dropping out altogether imo, whilst Millwall are due a little blip and us Brizzle and Preston are equally inconsistent. Brentford have too much to do now.

We just need to keep within 2-3 points of 6th and we give ourselves a chance. I would love us to pip Brizzle on the last day.

Just seen the derby county result 20 mins ago as missed it at work. what on earth. They do realise its a bit early for an april fool, because how do you lose 4-1 to Sunderland, they're useless havent won since 20th jan & its their 1st away win of 2018

For me playoffs are great if they happen it'll be fun, But we arent going to win for me that fulham who unless we nick 5th. Will get outclassed again over the 2nd legs & for me They'll win the play offs. So this is all expierence for 2018/19

Sunderland could genuinely have had 7 too

The general feeling is we are stuttering but of all the play off challengers there is only Boro and obviously Millwall who are in better form than us. Our form is unremarkable but it's not awful

Fulham? We've got 20 points out of 42 this year - that is awful for a team that were once top of the table.

Fulham aren't play off challengers though. They are certs unless they get automatic. I'm on about 5th to 10th where the final 2 spots will be decided.

In our last 15 we have won 5, drawn 5 and lost 5. Mid table fare which is where I think we realistically are at the moment. The great start has led to frustration with the hit and miss form we are in now but I think we have also done well to turn around that awful run before the new year when we could easily have slipped even further down the table.

Thought today's game played out pretty much how you'd expect from a glance at the table.

Two teams in tough conditions who aren't bad but aren't quite good enough to go a step further. Yeah, we can look at the game and say we missed chances, but that's kind of the point. The actual goal was a fluke and otherwise both teams lacked that little bit of energy or quality to take the game.

IMO there's only one team which will win the play-offs, and that's Villa.

If they could have got second spot, however, then I think the play-offs would have been anyone's.

It's shaping up exactly as it did 2 years ago, namely Brucie's outfit's not spectacular, it just does enough, it's not consistent enough for automatic, but it's a parachute club, he's done it before, and he gets it over the line in the end.

You don't want to lose a play-off, especially not with United's previous.

Look across the city; Wednesday were easily the weakest outfit in the top 6 two years ago, and we'd have lost in the semis but for Brighton's injuries.

So Carlos had already got one P-O defeat under his belt before he'd even done 12 months in the job.

That raises expectations, and puts on pressure the next season.

Then there's the likelihood of a hangover, and that's the last thing the Blades need.

I really wish Wednesday had missed out in Carlos' first season, then his attitude in the play-offs last season might have been different.

It sounds bizarre to say that sometimes you're better off finishing 9th than 6th, but it doesn't make it any less true.

Fulham were hot favourites last season
There's no certainty in the play offs except that it is uncertain who will win it

We are playing like Cunts so we’ll miss out.
Since the end of December, only Millwall and Boro of the teams we are competing against have better form.

We need to get slightly better than we have been to make a run for it. Not sure where that improvement can come from. Perhaps Clark starts to hit the target again rather than have every shot saved or just wide of the post. Perhaps Brooks and Duffy have a good final run. I agree that we will probably just miss out but we are actually playing like a decent top ten Championship team, otherwise we'd be 12th where Leeds are having taken 9 fewer points than us since 31st December, now that's a team playing like c.....

Spot on assessment Roy. Utb

7 to go
4 at home
1 point off 5th

Happy days

Our destiny is in our hands.simples
Saying we are 9th is meaningless .
Only table that matters is after 46 games and we can effect that ourselves
Win these 4 home games and we aren't going to be far off

'Tis factually true what you say & I love your optimism, but unfortunately, in our current form/scoring, and who we've got to play, we'll be finishing the season sub 70 points, possibly around 66. Where we are now is where we'll end up. I'm not 100% confident we'll win again this season. :(

if there’s one thing we’ve learned from the playoffs over the years it is this.. points, positions, reputations mean absolutely nothing..

Have you seen Fulham this season? I’d be a damn sight more concerned about them than Villa!

Really? Play like they did yesterday and I can’t see anyone who they’ll lose to before the end of the season!

Whilst ever you're right in the mix there's no excuse not to go full tilt. Whilst we've got a number of tough six pointers left as it stands, there's not one of those games individually that we should fear and not believe we can win.

Realistically I personally think it's a bit unfair to expect the players to win most of the remaining games but we can't predict what other teams will do either.

I would have expected us to pick up more points recently if we were to make the top 6, and whilst normally a point at Brentford would be a decent result, yesterday was ultimately 2 points dropped.

My main hope is that I'm convinced a play off win will come our way sooner or later, and when it does it will probably be unexpected.

That said I wouldn't wager too much on us making them this season with our form for quite a while, and the games left.

you’ve been saying that since we went top :D

Forget who’s going to win the play-offs and the big bad Villa (who we should have done the double over), let’s focus on getting into them first.

The facts are that we’re now in a 6 team mini league vying for 2 places with 7 games to play, just 1 point separating the teams and and one of them (Derby) in free-fall. Anything can happen, any of those teams could get in the play-off and we’ve as good a chance as any of them.

The biggest boost we could have on Monday is Clarke fluking a goal off his backside and then finishing this season like he did last, but I think we saw enough yesterday and over this season to tell us thst we’re as good if not better than some of the teams immediately around us and this season’s far from over and they’ll be a few surprises in store yet at both ends of the table.
