Michael McIndoe's proposed move to Sheffield United has fallen through.

The winger has returned to Ashton Gate and could play some part in tomorrow night's showpiece friendly against Ajax.

Manager Gary Johnson explained to bcfc.co.uk: "Sheffield United are pleading poverty a little bit and I think they need to bring some finances in.

"Michael feels he's waited long enough. We agreed a fee with them a long time ago; they asked us to wait and Macca to wait until they came back from Malta.

"Macca felt he needed to have an answer, yes or no, and it's a no.

"Michael's back with us, he's a part of our squad and he'll compete for a place like everyone else."
Gary Johnson
"It was a bit out of order, in my opinion, keeping us and him waiting. They'd agreed a fee, and terms with the player.

"Macca called me and said 'whatever happens now I don't really want to go there'.

He added: "It's important we make clear it was the two clubs who agreed the deal, the first Macca knew anything about it was when he was sent to Sheffield for talks.

"It wasn't him that wanted to leave the club.

"He's back with us, he's a part of our squad and he'll compete for a place like everyone else."

have to say, something is not adding up, we need some decisive moves by the club to stop the increasing mood of doom and despondency

The thing is the doom and despondency is created by constant speculation.
On one hand United saying something about every bit of speculation would be stupid. but the bits of information are more important to say things about are the facts, which on the other hand may give far too much away about possible deals that can be hijacked by other teams.

Double edge sword, say too little us as the fans get upset and nervous, say too much then lose out on players or be made to look stupid when things don't happen.

Maybe in this case United decided right at the last minute that there was a better player at a different club for less or maybe more if they are much better and actually we don't need McIndoe at all.

its the same at a lot of clubs pal

The last few season of over 25,000 average home gates, a home and away play off semi final and a play off final attended by over 80,000 add to that again 20,000 season tickets sold and we can't come up with a few hundred thousand to buy McIndoe from Bristol C. What an absolute joke of a club we have become FFS are we Wednesday in disguise ? errrrr no, they although over £20 million in debt can hold on to their better players. Time to pull yer heads from up yer arses Blades we havn't got a pot to piss in.
So then Mr scrooge McCabe where has all the money gone ? and where is it still going ???? Just what great debt is crippling SUFC is it the loan paid back at 3% more than the rate at a high street bank or the loan taken out to cover the first one that we are finding hard to pay back. So much for being free of the banks we are instead tied to McCabe and paying more for the privilege talk about being arse raped. To add insult to injury we look like we will be replacing the brightest young talent to come out of the club for years with a Blackburn reject who has found his level at the massive Tranmere Rovers.
RELEGATION CALLING :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

up until now I have been generally supportive of the club through the summer, thr kyle deals would be far too good to turn down, as soon as we lost at wembley everyone should have known we could be losing our best players, however why agree not just a deal but also terms with mcindoe and then not complete it? thats not how you do business. there are lots of negatives about at the moment, two weeks ago we were talking evans, smith, mcindoe and otoole, blackwell spoke to the media about these players, fast forward none have signed, deals broken down and it adds up to something fishy in my book.
re Taylor don't be so tiresome slagging off a player you know nothing about, give him a chance eh?

The thing is though on one hand we have all kinds of spin coming out of the club promising developing a new exciting squad, the Sheffield United family (Ferencvaros, Chengdu etc, etc) and building a ground fit for the world cup.

The reality is quite a bit different.

I'm very rapidly losing all respect for Kevin McCabe

Finally some good news. Johnsons comments about us being skint are based on what? The fact we didn't want to buy a jug eared winger that cant cross.

Hopefully we'll pick up lee martin on the cheap

Have you had a heavy night on the Bostik?

Lee Martin is prehaps one of the worst players i have seen play for the Blades and i have seen more than my fair share

Personally i thought he was better than Cotterill

Maybe Bristol or the Player saw all this potential money coming in & thought they would come back & ask for more?

Who Knows?

Whatever is happening down at the Lane, it needs sorting out.

lee martin signed for ipswich two weeks ago, and I agree he was lousy and injury prone when he was here

I'm soooo glad we didn't sign lee martin, he always seemed to flatter to decieve for me. To be honest Julian Gray impressed me against SFC last night, i know it was only one game and all that but maybe thats one reason the mcindoe deal has stalled?

Didn't realise he'd joined the Roy Keane revolution.

The latest in a long line of man utd deadwood that'll be heading to portman road this season i reckon. Won't be long before some sunderland cast offs are heading that way too

Does that mean that Stead will be available on the cheap or has he already gone?

Gray was far and away our best player last night.

The most positive looking one for me was our new Kyel :) That and the fact we seemed to enjoy routing our play through him.

I'll have to ask Gav if he went easy on him though :D
