[MATCH OFF] Weather threat to Burton game

Its because the club has done absolutely nothing to get the game on.
We could be 5 points outside the play offs coming out of London Tuesday.

4-5" inches of snow in Bristol today, City have just announced the Wed game will go ahead.
Boro & Forest have all staff helping clearing the areas for their respective games.

We just gave everyone 3 days off and postponed it.

Pathetic.

I`ll be walking round The Moor tomorrow with Mrs Treeton, in sunshine and melted ice.

Have you considered that the club didn't want the game played? Maybe Wilder saw it as an opportunity to give some players a rest before a difficult game on Tuesday.

We could be 5 points outside the play-offs on Tuesday, we could have been in the same position had the game gone ahead tomorrow. We all play the same number of games so if we finish outside of the play-offs this season it's because we deserve to, not because we've called off a game at the beginning of March.

Assuming you're right I assume you'd be comfortable with our opposition calling off a game for those reasons and using the weather as a convenience.

For all the things at the club that have changed for the better, making an effort to get games on doesn't seem to be one of them.

Did I say I was comfortable with Wilder* doing it? I'm just as disappointed as everyone else that the match isn't on tomorrow. The difference is that I can see that it's just a game of football and ultimately isn't the end of the world that it has been called off.

*I'm not saying that it has been called off for this reason.

Maybe they just know how shit Sheffield public transport is.

They have made sure the stands and playing surface was clear (I assume until they canned it) and have hired a company to clear the car park whenever it's covered in something, so they say.

I'd wager it was more to do with SAG than SUFC, otherwise we'd have probably saved some money and turned the heating off Wednesday night.

I for one didn't fancy sitting on the kop with temperatures of 0 deg C or -2 deg C with a wind chill factor that makes it feel like - 6 deg C. I'm happy to wait until it warms up a bit!

Disappointed they called it off so soon. When it now looks like it could be played. I have just been out and about and its fine. Think its about having more prep for Tuesday.

More snow is forecast from this evening through till 12pm tomorrow and freezing temperatures to continue, so maybe not a bad decision to call it off. I'm sure they would have looked at the longer term forecast before making the decision when they did.

Barnsley game off.

Forecast temperature at 3pm tomorrow in Sheffield is 0 C. At Bristol 3 C. May go someway to explain why the Bristol game can go ahead

Why do the club never appeal to fans to help?

I think we're going to be looking just a little bit tinpot come tomorrow afternoon.

I personally think that it will have been convenient to both clubs to call it off, and therefore we haven’t been particularly motivated to go the extra effort to get the match on.

Do you not think Wilder was consulted?

They did the pitch, stands and carpark, so the extra mile would be the surrounding area, but given we're in the city centre it might be unfair to lay that responsibility solely at the clubs feet. The council were consulted and obviously didn't think that between them they could get the surrounding area sorted. Perhaps focussing on the hospitals and residential areas.

Or maybe we should have got Brooksy in a gritter going up and down Shoreham Street. Dunno.

I was mildly upset about the game being called off, then last night I woke up for a piss and I was really cold during the 27 second journey to and from the bathroom. That upset me more.

I'll be fine with this. Stop crying you wet wipes.

Have you had a finger up the bum?

Exactly.

Dad, the games off. So I'm going the cinema tomorrow instead.

Off? Bloody he'll never mind. We're going Tuesday so let's hope that's not affected Son. Enjoy the film.

Dad, fourteen pages on S2 about it. Less snowflakes outside.

Bit harsh son, it'll be the gritting sand in some of thems vaginas.

On a personal note, I don't know what the temperature was at the Hull at home game but I was freezing and then got the worst snotty coughing disease of my life and felt terrible for about a month. So if the game had gone ahead I'm almost certain I'd have died.

Sheffield United FC, life savers.

No. Everyone involved wants it off because

Patsy, car park licker, club plant.

Anyone remember that game at BDTBL in the promotion season (06) against Crewe? Seem to recall that one almost got called off.

We were 2nd and they were rock bottom. Should have absolutely hammered them but instead played out a turgid 0-0 in dire conditions.

"Following a deluge of snow across the South West, stadium staff have been working tirelessly to clear the car parks, seating deck and surrounding areas.

The Ashton Gate pitch has undersoil heating, ensuring it will be fit for tomorrow’s game.

Avon & Somerset Police are happy with the roads leading to the stadium, with the M4, M5, A4 Portway, A369 and A370 all open.

Opponents Sheffield Wednesday will be travelling down to Bristol today to ensure they are in position to fulfil the fixture.

The club advises supporters to allow extra time to travel, noting that some smaller roads close to the stadium are difficult to access by car, so would advise fans to park further away and walk the final part.

Alternatively, where possible, fans should utilise public transport, with some local buses due to re-open their services this afternoon.

Fans attending the game are urged to plan ahead, wrapping up warm in the icy temperatures. Due to supply challenges, food and drink stocks will also be limited from the concourse concessions."

How they do it in Bristol.

No buses running today and no guarantee that there will be tomorrow if you look at the bus company's information, roads near the stadium expected to remain inaccessible so park away and walk, shortage of catering supplies so wrap up warm and they're supposed to be the bloody softy southerners!!!!

I'll be surprised if they do get it played mind you but what a hell of a difference in approach!

Akinbyi should have had a stonewall penalty.

Friday night on sky, thats why the game went ahead. Pavements around BDTBL were very icy.
Jags went to CB. That Majid Bughera (future pig ) really looked a decent player.

Can't forget that one. Slipped on the way to the ground and hobbled on in feckin agony. Somehow managed to get up the Kop steps, suffered the pain for the first half then thought bollocks to this it hurts too much so rang the Mrs for her to pick me up. She wanted to take me to the hospital but I wanted to watch the 2nd half on TV. Went to the hospital in the morning as still in agony - broken feckin leg and in pot for 6 weeks.

Do you not think Wilder was consulted?

No, don`t think he would have had any say in the decision.

The decision will have come from Utd liasing with the council, H&SE, & SYP.

I`m just annoyed cos instead of watching my beloved, I am now forced to watch the wife squeezing into Primark bargains saying `The sizes must be wrong`, and buying 6 packs of out of date crisps from Jack Fultons.

It's selfish people like you who have caused us to cancel the game tomorrow!
