so on Friday before the game we were 2 points adrift of 6th with a game in hand
now after a weekend of gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands at how we'd blown it , bristol citys loss at Cardiff means we are back where we were

so if it was on then ,it still is

we could have won at hull but if bristol had won wed be in the same place so ,lets get it on

so we were in a good position ,our players put in a heartless performance and now we are in the same position what kind of performance should we expect ?

A better one?

That performance was unrecognisable from any Chris Wilder team put out since last season. You'd have to say it was a blip given what we've been seeing previous, and rightly hope/think that we'll be better on Tuesday.

We'll soon find out anyway. 53 hours to go.

Just one fly in the ointment Mr Optimist Boro have moved above us and we have one game less in which to catch up.

Tut. There’s me thinking the ‘Table...all to play for’ thread was the best place to post about this.

Given the circumstances of the match and the opposition ,I'm not expecting very much
The team lacks leaders and characters
Hope wilder can go out and find some pre season

Got a game in hand what do you mean?

I mean I don't want us to be scrapping for the one play off spot occupied by Bristol and end up last day of the season at their place needing a result, we all know how those senario's work out for us

boros played one more than us but you look for any disappointment you want

its in our own hands

we keep winning they cant catch us

and one team with a worse record than us lately is bristol city but overlook that of course and only see how we are wobbling

blades fans can always see others ability to win , but not ours,,,, baffling

Very likely still don’t get the boro reference tho

Better that than being nowhere near, surely?

The problem is that the Hull performance, whilst out of character for this side (ironically it was against Adkins, where performances like that were the character of the side), its been heading this way.

Funnily enough, i was thinking about the discussions i had with Fanny magnet around Nov/ December when we were still top 4-6 but had dropped off a bit. At the time, based on the way the season had gone until then, Play offs was something which we really needed to get out of the mind as Automatic was our realistic target.

Our form has dipped so far that our normally optimistic manager is saying that the Play offs are something we should perhaps forget, because its not achievable with performances like the Hull game.

But its not only results, performances have become very much standard Championship performances, fear of losing before we step on the pitch. You can see it in the way that players check back, confidence is down. We've somehow stopped playing with freedom and Wilder's own saying about "playing with the handbrake off" hasn't been rolled out for a long time.

Wheels off, Handbrake on, seems we need a service!

Its certainly recoverable. I'd like to see the honest performances we saw earlier in the season, epitomised in games against Hull City, Fulham and Birmingham City at home, Pigs away and get away from the Hull City Away, Pigs at home performances.

Right now, we're quite a way off this

but we are looking at ourselves

why have boro only gone level with us after playing more ,theyve wobbled
4 weeks ago bristol city went 9 points clear of us ,theyve wobble
preston steaming up , wobbled at home yesterday

so we turned in an utter shite performance

trick is not repeat it ,
but why do some expect it and why
why not think lets go back to the 2 wins before that, why pick the negative

Look at the league tables teams who were no where near us are now catching up and overtaking us Boro were way behind us as were Brentford and others. The form over the last 10 games is mid table not top six even Millwall are only 4pts behind they are 3rd in the form guides, it really don't take a genius to work out which way we are heading if we don't improve sharpish.

I admire your optimism, i really do and whilst i would've agreed with you 100% back in Nov/ Dec, Jan 50% I am basing my current opinion on what i've seen of us recently.

I can't speak for other sides and if we're at the point of looking externally for other sides to slip up, then we're in danger of taking our attention away from our own performances.

Negativity, in my case comes from the way that we appear to have changed our mindset and we've become a negative side...Its not a trait i expected from this side

all the teams mentioned have played moe than uswe win a game in hand go a point clear in 6th the mood changes , they look more distant
we wre behind boro earlier this season ,so they havent been better
millwall win our game in hand they are 7 behind

lets stop this panic , its ours to lose , complain in may if we dont get there , but lts time to give it a chance ,,,,just for a change

we were never going to win the league last year
we were never going to get 100points
we surely cant win at hillsboro or leeds

how did they work out
but lets forget them and concentrate on the negatives,,, as usual

weve had ONE dire performance which Im pretty sure Wilder will let them know about

games under WILDER

Sheffield United (C, P) 46 30 10 6 92 47 +45 100
8 Sheffield United,,,,,,,, 33 16 4 13 46 39 +7 52

TOTAL 79 LEAGUE GAMES 46 WINS 14 DRAWS 19 LOSSES 152 POINTS

63 PER CENT WIN RATIO IN THE LEAGUE
thats 1 loss a month to to 3 wins

anyone in here who can match that can diss him

if we cant trust him to get us close , who can we

While we might not appear to have suffered in terms of league position from the Hull game, it has done a lot of damage in other ways. Fans are confused because that display was not recognisable compared to how we have performed in the last two seasons, as must the coaching staff be. Now that doubt has reared it's ugly head there is no telling what damage has been caused in the players minds, and anxious fans are now waiting for the inevitable fall off in standards, as history has taught us to believe, rather than getting fully behind the team. Sure it is only one bad performance, but everyone has to carry on believing and making sure we are not totally derailed by it.

I don't recall anybody on this forum saying we'd had it only one person said we were done for, tell him. (It's Chris Wilder I'm getting at.)

Friday was a really bad performance but actually now after the weekends games. Nothing has changed apart from being 1 game less without the extra 3 points. This really isn't the end of the world as we know it!!. despite some posts on here to the contrary!. Lets hope we get a reaction on Tuesday and see what happens between now and the end of the season. I believe that wilder can sort this out. If we end up at the end of the season in 10th place. I'm not going to class that as a bad first season back in the championship!!. IMHO, UTB
