So having reviewed all the comments on the threads about the club statement yesterday I have read many unfounded allegations, the usual ‘we may end up like Pompey’ why is it always we pick the Pompeys and Coventrys? We could end up like Man City or Wolves?

But the biggest load of tripe I’ve read is some fans on here and Social Media is saying “I wouldn’t like us to end up like Man City” are these fans serious? They wouldn’t want us winning trophies or league titles ? Playing in Europe? Just because we wouldn’t have a Bladey Blade at the helm and would lose our ‘identity’ whatever that is?

Apparently not there are Man City fans who ‘hate’ what they’ve become.
That is partly true as I know a couple....however its easy to take that attitude after you've won a couple of premierships and are in the Champions League every season. On the way they loved the journey !!

There are a decent number of them. You can tell at the games too the atmosphere is so flat. Having said that let’s be honest this is t City level investment. I’d be happy with whatever CW is happy with

There are loads of fans of all clubs who hark back to the seventies as a golden era when the game was played on shit pitches, crowds were falling because of the hooliganism and the facilities were awful. They'd much prefer to attend half full stadiums, watching some semi fit blokes sliding about in mud and kicking the shit out of each other whilst the fans are throwing darts at one another and slashing each other with Stanley knives. Who wouldn't?

If we knew how the Prince is to fund his new toy perhaps we may all rest a little easier

The fact that his personal wealth is similar to KM's then theoretically we can't become the next Man City

Personally, I can't rest easy until I know where this is headed and if the future of the Princes new toy can be put in jeopardy then it can all fk right off

If the Prince has the clubs well being at heart, whilst trying to to move the club forward then that's great, but until we see those fruits of the new owner, I must admit I'm concerned

Players who smoked, wore brylcreem and took bribes did it for me as well.

Yes. Even if we're winning the PL and have Guardiola as manager the media and other supporters will still say we're a long ball side who are good at set pieces.
And I still don’t give a fuck what anyone else thinks. :)

On a serious note, being liked and on Sky all the time is a right pain in the arse. Wilder out!

It's no surprise The Smiths and Joy Division came from Manchester is it?

From an outside perspective I think of all the big clubs Man City and Liverpool are the ones that have character. Man City just seem to be a fun club, tickets are cheap, ground is nice for a sponsor bowl, manager is enthusiastic and likeable, they have academy players and players that have been there for years that are legends to them.

Liverpool have Klopp, similar to Pep, loves his job, have their local lads coming through, and both play exciting football.

Man U, Chelsea and Arsenal are more robotic "buy these players and succeed" types and I get nothing from them. Arsenal are exciting sometimes or shite so that's at least entertaining. Man U and Chelsea are as boring as you get for the most part. I'd rather watch Bournemouth v Palace than Man U v Chelsea.

No matter how successful we are I think we'll have character, if only because we won't leave the Lane, I really believe that, and it'll take a long time to get the "it's all going to come crashing down" pessimism bred out of us Blades haha..

I'd love us to win the lot. Can't see why anyone that supports us wouldn't want to see us win the Champions League if there's a chance. Hipsterism coming to football?

It’s not going to happen as I think it’s so hard to get into the top 6 of the Premier league without serious and stupid money!

However, I would say it depends how it happens. If we throw money at it and become another side that just wins by having the biggest wallet with a squad filled with foreign players with no affinity or loyalty to the club, then no, I don’t really want to go down that road

I like our club, I like the way we’re growing naturally with people that care both on the pitch and in management and up to the owners. It’s something that we lost when Warnock went, love him or hate him.

We ended up with final paydayers and journey men that didn’t really care or give their all. We ended up with Joe Mattock’s and Neil Collins’ and we really were a sad and sorry side

To be perfectly honest I want to keep what we have now in terms of the spirit, desire and connection we have between club and fans. If that means being in the Premier League and winning things that’s all good. If it means a few years in Championship, I’m just as happy

I’d love to follow United in Europe, but not without the soul of the club in tact. I’d love to see us win at Wembley, but not with a side of mercenaries.

Personally I really don’t like the Premier league and I think the TV deals will eventually implode. It would be just typical that we were at the top when the tv deals sent the tv operator bust

So bring on the best players from the globe and an upgraded ground, I’d love to have a pint on the kop in December without getting pissed on or freezing my bollocks off. And if an ageing messi and Ronaldo want a final pay day on the hallowed desso then all’s good... they just better be willing to graft and have a pint

I have a mate who is a city fan of many years, he is over 70 so no recent glory seeker, when they first got taken over he was not overly happy, ask him now, watching his club become one of the biggest in the world, winning things, attracting the best players, having a big future, its funny you know most of our conversations are about the here and now, does he look back at maine road, Colin bell et Al with great memories , of course he does does he want to go back there? Does he fuck as like. Move on.

blades in champions league you say? - kidney punching kids crips and the elderly in Europe..... Have a bit of that

You know you don't mean that.

On a purely personal note, I'd enjoy knowing that there's so much space between us and t'other lot from S6 that the likelihood of ever meeting in a league game would be slim to nonexistant. Given that they've had a 6 season start in trying to achieve promotion, yet are still no closer to taking that step up, well hope springs eternal. We're doing ok, no complaints, and another season where Wilder and the squad learn what it takes to progress.

But the question is really, how does the Prince throw money at it with only similar wealth to KM?

That's what worries me. We don't want or need debt. We've been there and so for me, I need to know how the Prince intends to take the club forward without putting the club in financial jeopardy

Truth is that we don’t know his individual wealth. We know McCabes but we also didn’t know how much he wanted to put in.

I agree with you, it needs a cautious approach as the last thing we want is the club being financially ruined. I don’t think that will happen, we’ve seen the Brayford deals under the prince and it looks like we’ve backed away from this type of behaviour. It’s not beneficial to the club.

We need to grow within our means

Change - brings challenge & opportunity in equal measure. Here's what I hope it brings.....

I hope we actually win something & would be happy for that to be the Championship Play Off Final this season or next.
I hope we remain entertaining to watch, playing attacking football and banging the goals in.
I hope we keep our feet on the ground though - I don't want us to win everything.
I hope keep our identity as a gritty northern club with history, heritage and a family feel about the place.
I hope we keep Mr Wilder for a good few years yet & let him have a run in the Premiership with his club.
I hope we stay at BDTBL, do up the Kop & complete the wrap-around ground. More seats? Top deck on South Stand/John St.
I hope we have 10 years lording over that lot being better than them in every department.

"I find I'm so excited that I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head.
I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel. A free man at a start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain.
I hope I can make it across the border.
I hope to see my friend and shake his hand.
I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams.
I hope."

They ❤️ their parochial Bladey Inferiority Complex. They wear it as a Badge of Honour rather than an embarrassment.

Most of my mates these days are City fans. Let me tell you that they wouldn't change it for the world.

Half a dozen or so are off to Switzerland next week for a day or so on the ale and to watch their team. I'd have a bit of that if we could deliver.

Spending time with them in Munich just over a year ago and listening to them being able to take the mick out of Bayern fans. Yep, that's a fun alternative to explaining that there's two clubs in Sheffield. And happily there's no side to them. They realise how ridiculous it all is and the first words after the Bayern fans moved on was "we're not really here are we? It's all just a dream".

Do I want us to lose our identity and our culture? No. Not a bit of it. Unless it's the bit that says we can never be successful and we'll always be underdogs.

Do I think the moves of the last few days will take us where City are? Not for a minute.

Would I hate it if we became a bit "considerably richer than yow" whilst we were still to achieve anything. Absolutely.

I'll carry on with an open mind, but don't let misty-eyed nostalgia for the back-to-backs and drizzle around Maine Road kid anyone that success isn't better than the alternative.

One of the big three in Yorkshire ( us ,Pigs and the seat smashers ) will get back in the premier league first .the one that does if it can stay there and become established has the potential for such a huge fan base they could get crowds as big as mythical porktork ones

If I was going to gamble on a football club we wouldn't be a bad bet

I remember having a beer with a proper old skool Chelsea fan about 50 that I randomly got talking to in a pub.

It was the year after they won the Champions League in Munich.

He told me couldn't believe how reserved he felt when Drogba scored the winning penalty. He said he looked around the stadium and thought all those years of thinking he'd never see this day, and then when it came all he could think was he felt more euphoria in the days of Speedie and Dixon.

I laughed but there will no doubt be others like him.

Personally I hate some of the modern day circus but I can't pretend I don't want our day in the sun even if it's Saudi money that funded it.

Just a cup win would be sufficient.

I meant all of it, apart from Wilder out.;)
