Prince is taking over

Are you saying mate that you don't trust the Prince? I think that as McCabe has known and worked with the Prince for several years now that McCabe wouldn't sell to him unless he was assured he was the right man. This could be the investment we need if the Prince has sole control. That's the optimist in me anyway. I would rather McCabe still have a presence but I don't see this as necessarily a bad thing. As I say, its not like McCabe doesn't know the Prince.

Fair play to the club for the statement too. We can't say that the club hasn't kept us informed.

The prince took up an option which suggests Kevin had no say in the matter

The Prince has been around long enough to know how we work and our mindset, so you can say he's served his apprenticeship. This should mean we won't be subject to the same bollocks as the pigs where someone with no knowledge of the culture of the club was parachuted in out of nowhere. He will also understand that as loyal as we are, we have low expectations of what to expect in terms of success. I also wouldn't mind betting that his expectations are a lot higher than ours. So i think we might be in for a few pleasant surprises over the next few years. I'm in for the ride.

Or McCabe has, for a while now, been looking to step down because of a) his age
b) his family c) he realises his cash won't be enough for the next step.
He has introduced the Prince to our club and worked alongside him long enough to feel that he can be trusted with the future of The Mighty Blades.
The time anticipated in the agreement of 2013 is now right and the Prince takes charge of Sheffield United FC with the intention of seeing them into the PL under the present excellent management team :)

I have no problem with that scenario Harris.

Maybe the Kevin McCabe talk at the Octagon this week was all a ruse?, I wasn't there, but people saying he was moaning about a lack of investment and looking for other investors? Maybe a bit of an "in" joke?

Wow...well this is huge news as can be seen from all the reaction...will it all happen?..if it does we all want lots of money spent on the blades dont we..But at the same time it makes me feel abit nervous bout things to come and im feeling sad if our Kev is going..up the blades

Some golden rules for our new overlord:
- Don’t change the club badge
- Don’t change the club colours
- Don’t move us to a soulless plastic bowl somewhere off the parkway
- Don’t replace Sir Chris Wilder with a “name”
- Don’t replace our hard-working, honest bunch of lads with a group of casino-dwelling mercenaries who light cigars with £20 notes and use £50 notes as cum-rags.

We’ve assembled a team with a great spirit and togetherness, managed by a Blade, captained by a Blade, who play in a stadium in the heart of the city...this must be maintained
Agree with that but he can add some further quality to our bunch of hard working lads to push us further up the table. That's OK.

I really don't get all the negativity especially as most on here have slagged McCabe almost non stop for years.

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't HRH put >£15m into the club since coming on board? I very much doubt Utd would be in the Champ without it.

Very few on here, if anyone will know the detail behind the statement and seem to be very much focusing on negative scenarios but HRH obviously has a plan and don't forget the only way he'll see any significant return on his investment will be for Utd to get into the Prem.

I, for one, am looking forward to the next chapter.
Not so. If he obtains the freehold and sells the ground, strips the other assets (players, Shirecliffe and the like) and pisses of CW/AK so much that they walk, he will be quids in.

It looks like McCabe chose wisely.Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman arrested many including billionarie Prince Alwaleed bin Talal in an anti corruption sweep with assests seized.
Our Prince must be from the right side of the tracks.

On the Saudi subject, can't say I'm too enthused about being fully owned by the Royal Family of a country who have funded ISIS and the spread of radical Islam across the world to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

Not exactly great PR for us.
fatboy samuels is going to love this
thanks for keeping us afloat Kev ..all the best .. interesting times :/

I'm not sure what to make of this news. The prince has been here a while now so he knows what the club is all about. Hopefully it means that the prince wants to take us to the next level and realises that to achieve his ambition, he needs his own people on board as McCabe doesn't have that kind of money!. I'm not certain why the prince suddenly bought into this Belgian club. It's gonna be an interesting ride from now on and only time will tell how it all pans out?. Utb

No I am not in the know at all Bush, I know people who genuinely are (people who know K McCabe, know Chris Wilder, know ex players still connected to the club) , but it's not me. Not really read the statement as I have been on the phone to the USA (not related to SUFC!), and Mrs G has just called me to say that Jim Phipps is back on Twitter saying "thanks to Kevin McCabe for all you have done", so it looks like the Prince is making the move.

I still find the timing of the Belgian club story, and this story, very odd.

Jimbo hasn't tweeted a sausage since 27th December?

Never said you did, Smirth. I'm just alluding to Toby Foster's amazing hypocrisy when the Prince took over at United but never said a word about the ethics of Wednesday's owner. For all I know, you're a thoroughly decent bloke.

Unlike Foster who's a cunt.
Well said pal

Van Winkle our scout, van Winkle their coaching director, our Prince part owner of the best football academy factory in the world...... Nah, I can't see the connection either. ;)

What utter crap. Do you actually think that is going to happen? When has he ever given an indication (in his current role or previous ventures) of being an asset stripper - he is an investor who builds businesses up.

I would suggest he's seeking ownership of the freehold of the assets to enable him to develop them further - why would he do that when he doesn't own them. Is there not also a steep annual rent payable as part of the current agreement?

Seems to be a very difficult way of making money though. Why take on the inevitable strife that it would entail?
It's called catastrophising; thinking of the very worst scenario and then believing it will happen.

Someone please tell me what could possibly be good about this ?
- The Prince is easier to spell than McCabe
- you won’t have to endure endless posts about McCabe not having our best interests at heart
- we may get clarity on the ownership of the freehold

On a more serious point, a respected businessman once told me that 50:50 ventures never work, someone should always gave the casting vote, so we should get more decisive actions now - question is, will they prove to be good or bad ones

In my opinion he won’t be here long it seems like there was a agreement for McCabe to sell the club lock stock and barrel in 2013 at an agreed price. I suspect the prince has now found a buyer so he can now make quite a profit , don’t think McCabe is to happy.

I went to it and there was a question about selling, did a big long speech how he’d only sell to someone who understood the ethos of the club. Did also say he “wouldn’t be doing it much longer” but seemed to imply years rather than months or days.
