Oh Lord Michael Brown

Does anyone have a good image of Brown's volley vs Wednesday?
He's going to the Fifth Park WMC soon and I'd love to get a great pic (or painting, cartoon etc) signed.
there's a really good one that's highly available but I'd like more stuff around him (pig players, crowd, maybe?)
Cheers.

Weird how after he left us he was completely changed as a player.

Not sure that he really changed as a player after leaving us, it was more that he had one complete anomaly of a season whilst playing for us. Brown always had a nasty streak to him, which I quite admire.

i always thought that not playing MCall from the start of the playoff final was Warnocks biggest bollock that day.

And Asaba starting for Pesch. Wolves fans were shitting themselves before the game as Pesch scored bucket loads v Wolves in his career. Decisions like these were why Warnock never made a Premiership quality manager, Jags v Wigan on that fateful day another example. Key games, key decisions were not Colin's strong points.

Another almighty fuck up by SUFC.

The guy didn't really want to leave, he just wanted a substantial amount more to stay, which he knew he could easily get elsewhere.

We refuse to give it him, so he feels pissed off, starts playing at half cock and we then have to sell him for a paltry 500 k when he was worth at least 4 million, even in those days.

Well done guys.

Curious thing about Brown is everyone remembers his 22 goals in a season but his scoring record every other season wasn’t great. Cracking midfielder though.

Watching that goal compilation video I realised that, apart from the penalties, all of his goals that season were from outside of the box. That is some achievement too

Just shows the rewards from mixing things up and shooting from outside the box occasionally.

Has there ever been a more prolific season from a Blades midfielder? :)
This is exactly what I've been thinking, halfway through watching this compilation.
Instead of stopping on the edge of their box, turning back, and the ball ending back up with our keeper, have a dig....

Can’t think why they don’t when the oh-so-supportive fans would react so positively when it balloons into the Kop

Seemed to be his "purple patch" season, but what a season.

To be fair though Danny, if it was Sammon you can't blame them as he'd probably be aiming at the other goal.

With hindsight I wonder if he'd have stayed at the Lane looking at how his career pettered out. If he'd had 10years+ with us he would have no doubt been a club legend. You only have to look how we keep dragging out tony currie at every opportunity which for myself at nearly 30 i can't really appreciate the impact he had at our club

I think he'd have liked to have stayed at the Lane but Spurs sold him to Fulham.

I gave you a like for top humour but then toook it away again, as our 'Lane' is considerably older than that of Spuds.

There are some things just tooooooo serious to joke about.

Great season, so many comebacks and great days and nights in the cups. Brown banging in belters every other week, tonge looking like a world beater, McCall rolling back the years, jags with a wonder goals against Leeds of all teams. Shame to end the season with nothing but the memories are worth a lot to me, some absolute legends graced the lane that season - my favourite season as a blade.

cracking season , Browny and co were great and it seemed like every week there was drama and great goals
personally thought the build up/day at the millennium stadium - Cardiff was brilliant and the best ' big game pre-match ever' - far far better than shitty London and Wembley - i dont count the match as that never goes well ! although as others have said, if Brown had scored that penalty (which if you watch back there keeper Murray is already planning to dive to his left as he is so far over on the other side of the goal- obviously done his homework )

I would happily of gone back to Cardiff for any big games since and in the future than trudge down to that London !
