Tbf, I thought the same. He's looking ineffective in attack. You're not going to beat championship keepers heading it high straight at them.

True, but in the grand scheme of things, his attacking prowess is the only a minor compliant. His defensive heading is fine.
I could think of at least 10 more pressing problems.

Yes, his defensive heading is good but last season we benefitted from him getting forward and his attacking threat at set pieces. This season we haven't. Neither he nor Basham offer much in attack. Nor does Stevens at the moment. Last season it was our attacking wing backs and overlapping centre backs that caused a big threat and led to a lot of goals. This season, against the better sides, the lack of quality is being exposed.

In fairness hes got a point.

He’s a brilliant defensive header of the ball but the fact he hasn’t scored with some of the chances he’s had is unbelievable.

He wins nearly every header, in our box and in theirs and still hasn’t scored this season.

Speaking of more pressing issues, for O'Connell to get the opportunity to attack the ball from corners, we need to start taking better corners.

At the end of the day, we need to remember that he (and Basham) play centre half, and are both returning to the championship from spells in L1. I know they have to play a roll when going forward, but we have to be realistic with what we're asking from them.

Corners were superb yesterday I thought

They were a lot better, but I think it's fair to say, based on the full season, that today was a bit of an anomaly.
We've been wasteful with corners this year, and failed to beat the first man far too many times.

Hopefully we've turned a corner though and yesterday was a sign of things to come.

I'd agree on the whole but JOC has still had some fabulous chances, despite our shit corners in the most part.
Hopefully we have turned a corner with Evans taking them.

Yes, you're right that he could definitely be more clinical, but as I said above, his main role is to defend - which he doing well.
We should always look to improve, but singing out O'Connell for his attacking heading seems be nit-picking and in my eyes, we have more pressing concerns.
