That’s a surprising signing. I like the player but he’s not shown much in the way of premiership finesse. But then again, neither has Benteke and he’s ten times the cost...
 
One out of the blue if it happens. Palace obviously had no luck with plan A, B, C, D, E and F....

I think he's one who could push 10 goals a season in the PL though.

If we've already had Sessegnon I'll choose Ryan Woods then. He can get injured for a few weeks to get Brentford off our case, and then return to full fitness in time for us to take him off their hands ahead of our PL season....

Out of contract at the end of the season, 10 goals and they've agreed 8m!!

Palace don't half waste cash.
 
Thing is Scooter 8m is a drop in the ocean in the premier league. These why when someone comes knocking for Fleck et al we have to extract maximum value. If Hughill is worth 8m wtf is Brooks worth?

If he scores a couple of goals and keeps them up, it will be considered a bargain.

I'm actually confused as to why he's still a Fulham player. Young, English, always looks great whenever I've seen him - you'd think the bigger teams would be queuing up to add him to their reserves / loan him out to West Brom...

Particularly as he's been in the shop window for 2 years.

Spurs and Everton are always sniffing when it comes to young English talent in the lower leagues.
 
Hopefully west ham get thier act together and pick up the Fulham midfielder they were after.

It’s because he’s not at a club renowned throughout football for accepting £2m for such a player. If he was, he’d be gone.
 
Fulham have taken a similar stance with sessegnon like wilder has with brooks. They said recently that they have no intention of cashing in and didn't need to. I'm sure he also signed a contract extension which as we know with brooks tends to make the bigger clubs look elsewhere!!. There's gonna be some surprise moves but I'm really happy that wilder won't be busy trying to find reinforcements. In wilder we trust.
 



Russell leaving Derby for the MLS has got to be a big blow to them.

To me he looked like nowt better than an average 2nd tier striker (against United), the sort we were going through at one a season. 8 million quid is amazing money for him and yes Brooks is worth much more than Hugill.
 
I'd love to see Cairney leave. Fulham put a £40m price on him this morning though so I can't see it unless somebody offers £20+m which would be very surpising

Who was that then? Who was linked to the biggest clubs in Europe? Surely you don't mean Kyle Walker as he was only wanted by Spurs and Everton and we sold him for more than £2m. Or are you saying that if someone offered £2m for Brooks we'd sell him?

Of course he means Walker. He was the makeweight in the two Kyles deal, about £6m for KN and £2m for KW. But of course everyone on this forum "could see" that he was the better player and would definitely go on to play in the Champions League, be an England regular blah blah blah.

To be honest, I remember at the very time he was sold, there were many on Bladesmad kicking off wondering why we'd included the better prospect in the deal.

They had a few years to say this too, as he wasn't a Spuds regular for some time after.

£3m plus add ons for a third division player who'd played about ten first team games, eight years ago. Transfer fees have increased a lot since then.

I doubt it would have happened if we'd had a proper manager in charge like Wilder and not the fuckwitt twins, Robinson and Blackwell.

Preston have denied the story about hugill. Every transfer window is the same!!!. The press start printing absolute bollocks just to fill a column as we know with brooksy!!. I lost count of the number of supposed bids that were being considered for him from various clubs. I'm happy that wilder has stuck to his guns and brooks is staying put. I'm also relieved that we won't have a repeat of the final day of the previous transfer window. UTB
