The FA Cup Draw will take place at 7:20pm Monday, on The One Show...

... and they wonder why half the teams involved put out reserves.

Drawing the home teams we have Dr Michael Mosley and the away teams will be drawn by Angelica Bell.

Can't beat a bit of Alex 'funbags' Jones though

It was like when they used to draw the next round before that rounds ties had been completed , anything to please sponsors now & demeaning to what used to be the greatest domestic cup completion in the world .

I’m old school bring back the draw on the radio only far more exciting you didn’t know who hadn’t been drawn out to .. right gotta set the VHS to record MOTD & go and by a pair of black football boots

Does it really matter what it's on. Or is this just another poor excuse for people to moan "it's not what it used to be blah blah #AMF".

I'm a bit of an old fogey but I like it on telly, live (hopefully, although you never know these days!), whether Alex Jones is on or not. It was rubbish when it was on t'wireless at 2.00 on Tuesday afternoon or whatever. I don't like the celeb build up bit so I ignore it. Times move on, sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes not!
Good things from the past:
19p a pint beer.
Mum's meat and potato pie (with Hendo's).
Curry and Woodward.
Sheffield's Christmas lights.
Bad things from the past:
Rickets.
Slavery.
Homework.
FA Cup draw being on when I'm at work or school!

The FA get a lot of wholly deserved flak, but are they really to blame for the draw being televised (by one of many TV stations currently available) halfway through the unwatchable festival of gormless mediocrity that is The One Show ? If the BBC, and any other TV / radio networks, are carrying the draw live, it's up to them as broadcasters to accommodate it in an appropriate way that gives due weight or respect to the grand old competition.

I'm struggling to see how this reflects badly on the FA Cup, tbh. But haters gonna hate, and all that.

You do know that Angelica is the niece of a certain poster on here?

Hopefully she will do a good job for us ;)

Unfortunately I didn't really miss the point of your post though ;)

I liked it when half the school used to skip a lesson to listen at half eleven, or whatever time it was, on the wireless on a Monday morning.

I heard she was at the least a follower of the Blades through family - didn't know they posted on here though.

Her and the doc are my fave 'roving reporters' on the One Show so I gave them the gig for my joke.

Should get Rod Stewart doing it. At least it will give us something to smile about when we draw Brighton away on a Friday night.

Not to me. I thought the One Show got good viewing figures and assumed it was an attempt to take the FA Cup to a wider audience and try to drum up the viewing figures. It's on the radio too if people are so offended they don't want to watch it.
