Evans/Leonard

I thought Evans, in particular, was superb. Sat deep, was where he needed to be when we needed him to be there and moved the ball quickly and efficiently. He really set the tempo of everything we did well. I don't like to compare players as their all their own man but as others have said, it was almost as though Coutts was back in there. On that showing, he could be a very big player for us.

Oh and by the way, that was an away game.

Squad rotation. Also you can always use the edit button instead of going on a rant 3x quoting me haha.

I understand a difference in opinion he may not be your cup of tea. Which is why I was more specific and said if you don’t rate him as a decent footballer.

I’m not saying you have to like him.

But also ask our leader if he thinks Lundstram is a decent footballer before going on a rant.

Like moved the ball forward, at speed and picked out a man and a pass and supported and not just done a chuckle brothers all game and had a shot on target and and and. Go on, I'll get shot down, but you ever played midfield?
Utter rubbish. Evans did absolutely nothing today than Lundstram hasn't been doing for weeks.

As the other poster says, the only one with a lack of football knowledge is you if you can't see that Lundstram is a quality player.

Evans today was better than Lundstram has been for the most part of our recent run in that he didn’t have 15 minute spells of just hacking at the ball and giving the ball away under pressure. These are regular for him, and although only small spells in the grand scheme of it these have led to us being put under unnecessary pressure game after game.

Once Lunny gets those out of his game (and he will, he’s new to this championship lark) he’ll be a very good player at this level.

He also moves things a bit quicker and is happy in very tight spaces whereas Lunny isn’t quite as comfortable. That’s literally the difference between him and Evans and that’s why our lord and saviour decided to play him today.

Lee Evans is a very good player. I can see that straightaway. There were a number of times today he did things a little bit quicker and smoother, it was like having Coutts back. He's the most suitable replacement for him in the squad. Very glad we've signed him now. Hopefully he can be consistent.

Leonard did OK but didn't have much of the ball and I thought he could've won the ball a few more times for us in the second half. But he played his part in restricting them when the midfield started dropping deep in the last 20 minutes.

Fleck was an absolute colossus. He was just too good for them at times. Our MOTM with Evans second.

I was very pleased with how comfortably they played together. There were 2 new signings in there but it didn't look like it. It says a lot for our system and style of play.

Lundstram is a good player, still young and his time will come but had we kept it as is we would’ve continued falling to mid table.

Refreshing things was just what we needed. Both move things a bit quicker than Lunny does, he’ll play his part but needs a couple of games out for now. We haven’t been enough of a threat going forward, today we looked like the United of old.

Evans and Leonard were great today
agree with these comments 500%

rubbish signings, mainly due to the fact watching on ifollow i can't tell which one is which, both seemed to fit in well though i think. was much easier with a midget, a ginger and coutts

I agree. I was also very fucked off with ifollow today. So much so that I had to hop from Germany to France and then Luxembourg just to catch the game. Cost me a fortune in teleporting fees

I have discovered that once the video starts playing, one can hop on a plane back to the UK and not worry about foreign internet connections that throttle the video speeds.

(Which is a coded way of saying, turn off your VPN once you've started the stream)

I did not know that.

I did not know that.

I think the stream will still be routed the same way, so unless you’re opening new tabs or browsers that won’t make any difference. I’ve always used Italy, as it works for blackout games as well, and I’ve never had any problems. The food’s good too!

NordVPN is excellent and always has good deals going.

Beam Me to Italy Mr Scott, I want to watch The Blades

I've never played midfield but I can tell you that Lundstram is a quality midfielder who will be an important part of this Blades squad for years to come.

He'll end up elsewhere next season. Evans/Leonard were not recruited to sit on the bench and by the sounds of it brought a new dimension today, didn't attend but the midfield seemed reinvented today, Evans play maker, Lenny box to box and fleck driving forward in an advanced role.

Enjoyed today, though the last 20 mins we could not get or keep the ball. Evans was brilliant all round performance. Leonard less so, but worked in a slightly less expansive formation. I.e. no Duffy in a free role. Biggest critisem is that they need to wear different coloured boots, at least Wilson had the decency to wear gold boots!

Lee Evans was the one signing which slightly slipped under the Radar in the Leonard / Holmes saga.

He May just be the best signing of the lot, the Wigan fans, (and the Wolves fans who don’t believe they have regenerated into Man City) really rated him.

I genuinely think all 3 permanent signings will be very good for us.

Evans seemed the least necessary in the short term but given his age and ability he'll probably be the best one long term.

Don't know what we'll do with all the midfielders when Coutts is back though!

maybe you can tell me why our esteemed and trusted and lauded leader immediately replaced him

er, the same esteemed and trusted and lauded leader that signed him you mean? What you on about pal? You ever managed a football team?

In which case I'm in good company. He's a quality player but not in this system which is why he was immediately replaced.

All our players will play a major role. As will Lundstram.

We will rotate the team to keep it fresh but the best performers will play more than not. This is what CW has built into our squad.

Maybe it will be Leonard / Evans / Lundstram / Coutts / Fleck.

But all our midfielders have to perform if you don’t perform you may drop out. Today Evans gets a big thumbs up and maybe force himself even more into the side.

I don’t get this berating of players our fans do. Support whoever is out there don’t need to moan and whine on a message board as you don’t like a particular player. That’s what the wendies do.

So your saying CW has got it fully wrong and he now doesn’t rate Lundstram o_O

Rant? THIS IS A RANT! I don't mind a difference of opinion. I don't like the edit button, I'm too old to use it. I've not said I don't like him. Just get it into your head that I think he's a decent footballer, but not in the system we seek to play and Wilder has signed players he thinks will play in that system which is why, at the first opportunity he was removed. He wanted Leonard at the start of the season. He had to take Lundstram. Why do you think he has pursued Leonard virtually to the ends of the earth and as soon as he's arrived who has he replaced? I think you were one who thought Leonard was going to be a centre back. Wishful thinking. If this works out Leonard will be first choice and rightly so.

You’ve made me laugh that you get so annoyed on a Saturday night over a message board. I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

I read “this is a rant” and stopped reading. Whatever point your trying to make I agree with as you care a lot more than me about the opinion of others on a message board.

Annoyed? THIS IS ANNOYED! Great day for me. CW put three new signings in that I knew would work. No Bladeyness. No loyalty, just pick the best players with a commitment to moving that ball quickly and effectively forward. Maybe the correct view of my Saturday night might be Irritation by what I perceive to be others views of a player's contribution unsupported by evidence. Goodnight and may your love of Lunny prove me wrong in the long run.

Exactly as I saw it. I thought Evans was superb.

Fantastic and allows fleck and others to be who they need to be too!
