Just picking up on the one that Holmes scored against Shrewsbury, that much bend that it flew in the far top corner....

Can you think of any Blades goals, scored directly from a corner?

I can't even remember our last good corner, because we're fucking wank at set pieces.

Mr Positivity, I see a trend in your posts TD :D

In all fairness, I think Duffy has delivered a few corkers this season...A couple of which we have scored from.

I wish I could be positive, I honestly do.

But having seen so many dogshit displays of late, coupled with all those lobotomised monkeys saying "oh but haven't we had a graaate year?", I'm losing my patience somewhat.

I can remember Woody doing it past one of the best goalkeepers in the world

I was a young kid at the time but it used to fascinate me how sometimes it looked like
Woodward was deliberately trying to score from a corner.

None of this floating into the box business.
Woodward would blast the ball directly at goal with a bit of swerve on it.

There was a slight improvement against Wendy as in we didn't just stand in the box and wait for the ball to land on us, we actually moved around and tried a few different things but it didn't work so I expect we'll forget it and go back to passing it to their CBs for Norwich.

I seem to recall us scoring one under Bassett but it was disallowed because the ref blew for full time!!!???
Away match.

pretty sure I remember David Unsworrh scoring one in front of Kop!

Long overdue first post I would say! UTB ftp

Are you getting confused with the goal he scored v Hull in the dying moments in the Premier promotion season, after a goalmouth scramble following a corner?

No you are not, just seen Silents post, teach me to keep my big nose out, apologies

One of the problems being that Leon and Clayts both like to drift wide into the channels, which leaves us with little to aim at in the box at times.

Need both to get into the box and compliment that with runs from outside the box.

David Unsworth v Derby (h) Sept 2005

Think Mark Dempsey did it in the 3-2 defeat at Oldham in Sept 1987

Geoff Salmons v Man City (a) March 1974. The match was televised by Granada tv and I have never seen the footage

Alan Woodward did it at least 4 times. Below are from the Green Un or Morning Telegraph match reports
GOAL - v Norwich (h) 27.1.73. In the 36th minute Woodward took yet another corner on the left and this swung into the far corner for a deserved goal.
GOAL - v Coventry (h) 13.11.71. In the 44th minute United broke the ice with Woodward scoring direct from a left flank corner kick. Woodward's inswinger completely fooled Glazier and his colleagues.
GOAL - v Leicester (a) 18.9.71 Four minutes from time Woodward scored direct from a corner, which was won by Salmons. Woodward's inswinger from the left completely deceived Whitworth by the near post, and left Shilton bamboozled.
GOAL - v Newcastle (h) 2.9.69. A corner was won within thirty seconds of the start. Woodward came across from the right to take it and his banana kick sneaked in at the near post as Powell harassed Craggs.

King Keith always used to try to.

Understandable with players like Colin Morris to aim for!

I was at quite a few of those matches, but the one at Maine Road was interesting. It was a gusty windy day. A slimline Joe Corrigan was in goal for City. Corrigan could be a fantastic goalie on his day, but was always liable to make a clanger. He played for England and so obviously had talent.

Anyway Salmons took the inswinging corner and Corrigan went up to catch the ball, unchallenged as I remember. He just misjudged the flight, possibly due to the wind, and the ball sailed straight over his out stretched hands into the net. Bonus was a 1-0 win.

I would rather not discuss the twat that is David Usworth.
All smiles punching the badge after Hulse nodded us in front against Liverpool, then celebrated like a twat when he put us down the fat fucker.

Wow Leicester away. My first ever away match. Went on the train with my old man. Thanks SB. How would I save or share that video ?

Old? Prematurely grey! He was probably 31 when he left us.
when i was a kid me and my mates decided we’d like to see a game from the Bramall Lane end so went to the game vs Newcastle red and white scarves the lot(idiotic bit hey) the geordies took pity on us and when the teams came out they were laughing at Woody.. ‘who is the old bloke etc’..
they weren’t laughing at the end .. ‘that bloke with the grey hair he’s fookin brilliant man’
1-1 draw .. think Tudor scored for them .. Silent?

or
Sept 1973 drew 1-1 (Bone for us and I think McDonald for them)
or
August 1974 (midweek) won 2-1 (Cammack and Keeley o.g for us, Keeley for them)
or
April 1976 won 1-0 (Guthrie)
