I do wonder why Samir was not Built in as part of the deal?, Karl Robinson said Chris Wilder was interested, but then it changed and the deal would be cash only around the 400k mark.

I cant with all the new requirements, see Samir getting a route back into the first team now, so going to Charlton and re-uniting with Robinson seems like it would have made sense.

Charlton’s owner wouldn’t allow it, according to Robinson

Here's one of the reasons he's hopefully joining

100% agree with this. Think this is the exact reason he’s joining the side!

Wilders said the one thing we were lacking is that little bit of magic that can turn a game on its head! Goals like that from nothing can win games and turn defeats into draws.

Imo part of the reason our form has suffer (other than coutts being out) is that teams have more fear of us and at this level are capable of sitting back and absorbing our pressure. Someone like Holmes has proven he has abit of class and can create something ou if nothing. Imo this can be our plan b if the patient probing of Duffy can’t unlock the defences.

As others have said our January business looks excellent even if we don’t add anyone else after Holmes.

We’ve added strong completion in the middle. Ensured basham doesn’t need to be moved about. Added an x-factor in Holmes to complement brooks and Duffy. And a new striker in Wilson who can help stretch teams and add something different.

Our options throughout the squad looks really good. When you add ched and Freeman being back into the Mix too we have a first team squad with competition everywhere - from keeper to attack which will surely push everyone else to improve to stay in the side.

Wilder and his team and the board deserve credit on he way the side has been transformed in a little over 3 transfer windows

Cheers Pinchy Dude,

I have just seen, due to selling up, although he has said the wages can be filled so maybe a loan for Samir, I don't see how it would be useful to keep him here as he seems to have lost interest and his performances have not lived up to expectations for all concerned.

Time to move on, and hopefully the incoming Mids will show they are ready to fight and inject some life into the middle field to cover the very apparent and hard loss of the rolls in midfield.

In Brooks absence which seems to be continuing into February, we certainly need another attacking mid and from what I've seen of Holmes and looking at his assist and goal record and the pace he has, I think he'll be a great addition. Brooks could well go in the summer and we already have a great replacement in Holmes ho also has a brilliant work ethic on the pitch, relentless running. He'll be a great fit for this side and is desperate to play at this level hence he's decided to come "up north" for the first time in his career and make his mark. He's ex non-league also and they usually tend to be very grounded and hungry.

Did they mention whether he was the one permanent or one of the three loans? I need to know because they always get it right...
I heard that they were going to announce it after he’d been to the hairdressers for a perm ? Reception wasn’t great admittedly........

Is really what we need? Personally I would have brought in a CM playmaker, since we are devoid in that area. Team needs more balance

Agreed. We should definitely be signing more central midfielders. Fleck, Lundstrum, Duffy, Evans, Leonard and Brooks simply aren't cover enough. Especially when there's still only Carruthers, Basham, Slater and indeed Holmes who can also play in that role.

I am more shocked that he typed this at 5.50 am this morning :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Funny thing is, Jaio looked 10 times the player Rhodes is at the moment, we could gerrimin and givimarrun :)

Hate to say it he looked really good, perhaps it was only because he had a real wanker stood next to him.

Think there may of been a chance to sign him before the beginning of the season , there ain’t now unfortunately.

I thought that on Friday too. He’d be one of their players that could make a difference up top. I thought he looked a threat for a team that wasn’t keen on attacking.

It would Be one it’s worth keeping an eye on availability wise once everyone is back fit for them for me.

Thats a double edged sword buddy. Better delivery means better chances of getting on the end of them, the absence of coutts' corners means less O'connell chances duffys corners are not as good as couttsys and we miss them badly

This signings and the other 3 new ones.... it will make us far less predictable. Felt for some time if a team “parks the bus” they need to stop the wing overloads and they’re a long way towards success in their game plan. We all recognise how our build up play is and so do the opposition.

This has now changed if/when the new players are involved.

And miss them badly is what we usually do...:(

Some Addicks fans reckon his crosses and corners aren`t up to scratch, and that he can run into blind alleys with the ball and not get his head up. However, he can certainly take a good free kick, score "worldies", and unlock a defence. He will add to our options, and might well prove to be an astute signing for a modest outlay.

So you don’t think CW really, really wanted Leonard and Holmes, you think he’s having to make do because we can’t “shop at Waitrose” like Birmingham, Sheffield Wednesday, etc? If only we could afford someone like Jordan Fucking Rhodes, the moaners might be happy then,

Why don’t you mention big spenders Wolves?

Spending money isn’t always bad.

and here is his time at Northampton under CW - no wonder he's been chasing for a while. Looks a consistent performer...

Ok, worldies, assists and penalties. Bit worried abart his headin

If it's not announced by 3 I'm getting worried

To have all our incomings completed by 15th (more like 12th) January is mightily impressive. Especially when 3 out of 4 are permanent.

What’s the betting Jim White’s Deadline Day Army will still be refreshing every thirty seconds and cracking fax-gags by the dozen on their special day?...
