I don't like the thought of replacing Brooks with a 30 year old.

And that's what we'd be doing when Brooks is sold because we'd have both Duffy and Holmes and we wouldn't sign another prominent attacking midfielder after those two - not if we're sticking with 3-5-2.

At least signing Kent on loan would've left open the possibility to sign someone younger in the summer as his replacement. Someone potentially close to Brooks in value as well as ability.

Can’t say I’m that bothered to bit if Chris wants he gets as far as I’m concerned. Think someone must be going though. Fleck or Brooks , difficult decision I’d sell Brooks first , I know his potential is massive (sorry to use the word) but Fleck is a player for today and getting us to the promised land ASAP.

To be fair blades can't win, we sign a young player and sell them club is slaughtered we sign an older player with no re sale value and they get slaughtered. Ill be honest I though the same about Duffy and Clarke though and they're doing OK for us. can't always look long term. and there aren't many players Wilder knows as well as Holmes.

Sometimes it’s about getting the right personalities in also...a year or two with Wilder and we’ll hopefully be in the Prem so ‘all change’ anyhow...age a bit of a mute point if they can do the job now.

It wouldn’t. Like many others it seems you can’t wait for it to happen. Doubtless the anti-McCabe script is dripping vitriol already.

I'm possibly less concerned about Holmes' age than others. He's a winger in the Beckham mould with a good delivery. He doesn't rely on his pace. He'll probably compete for Duffy's place anyway.

I do expect to lose a couple of players on the last day of the window....

A midfielder and a winger would be my guess.... just set yourself up for a big outgoing, we’re spending quite a bit this week if Holmes is a goer... very unlike us isn’t it..

I reckon Holmes = Carruthers plus £200K
Or maybe they’d agree a straight swap.
Remember Karl Robinson knows Carruthers well, knows how talented he is and really rates him.

I think that’s one of the reasons we’re in for Homes because we also manage to offload Carruthers at the same time.
It’s a deal where everyone benefits.

Wilder knows him as well as any player currently on the books. A talented playmaker, dead ball specialist, goal scoring midfielder who gets better with age.
I would take him in a second, before someone else does.
