CONFIRMED Ricky Holmes

Not every player can be in their teens and early 20s with potential to realise, sometime you just need a a proven player who will get the job done in the short term.
 

Would be an excellent window if we get him. I’ve harped on about him loads as I have a few friends down in Northampton and they all raved for ages that he is good enough for championship.

Was undecided on Holmes. But that was mainly due to him being slightly older and the move not coming off in the summer.

In retrospect we probably wouldn’t be able to afford him at 23/24 and Duffy and Clark are proving that age is no barrier to success at this level.

He would genuinely add some attaching quality and a different option to Duffy and brooks. He is also a scorer of brilliant goals - think I remember him getting two or three quality goals in the same game last year for chalrton.

Put him into YouTube he is a highlight real at a Northampton and Charlton.

CW has worked with him before and assessed all our players and wants him. So for me he gets a tick at the side of his name.
 
It's all moved on apace, bit late now, we have so many midfielders.

The lad can assist goals like Duffy and score more than him.

Would cost real money.

I think Wilder's 'one more' is Devante Cole.

Wilder did mention him today. Imo a swap involving Carruthers would make us stronger and add a further dimension. Ass you mention Holmes end product is certainly not to be sniffed at.

Interesting if Cole is the one. I’d have bought we were well stocked there (sharp/Leon/Clayton have all shown they can get goals) and wilson being the pacy young striker.

Even if Lacey gets a loan move there is still ched returning
 
He is about as close as a like for like Duffy as we could get. Without spending £5m+ that is.

Would be an absolute no brainer to sign him if it is possible.

Him and Duffy battling it out for that same place in the team could even take them both to an extra level.

Really hope this happens

Cole might be signed as a 'development player' now we have Wilson. Sign and loan back to Fleetwood.

Carruthers needs a move, so maybe it could happen. As someone alluded to above, that 3 year Holmes contract recently is right in the way of a reasonable move to us and sticks in the craw.

It may not happen Woody with Charlton's ownership in question but with Holmes reaching veteran age and wanting to try his hand at a higher level it could be a goer.
Charlton may Wan t a fee but an exchange deal would cover most of that.carruthers is a youngish player with potential who fits into Robinson s style watch this spacr

Wilder doesn’t. He’s said publicly it’s Ricky Holmes...
 
If the Holmes deal does come off I can see it being the back end of January. You just know that negotiations with Robinson won’t be easy.

We’re assuming as a given that Carruthers is on his way there based simply on his poor form this season. Not saying it won’t happen, but there has been no indication to suggest it to-date. Wilder might want to keep him in the squad, Robinson might not want him, and Carruthers quite rightly might not want to go to Charlton.
 
I think part of the issue could be that the owner doesn't want the distraction of moving players around, just wants to sell up, this may slow things down
 
Let's say that Holmes comes in then I would say Carruthers must go out.

For Midfield when all are fit we would have:

Leopard (heard he's quite fast ;) )
Lundstrum
Coutts
Fleck
Duffy
Holmes
Evans
Brookes
Thomas

That's alot of cover for 3 places if you ask me so I would say that Thomas and Samir could go.

Robinson was quoted as saying he was lining up a loan move for Carruthers before the Chairman pulled the plug...

In the current window? Hadn’t come across that. It would make sense as a move but equally Wilder might think that there’s still a player in there that he can develop.
