I honestly can't remember the last time that we headed into a Steel City Derby as odds on favourites!....Not sure whether I like this fact or not?

I mean yes the odds add up when you measure all of the facts however isn't the old saying that "all form goes out of the window when it comes to derby games???"

I like a flutter as much as the next man however as a general ruling I try not to bet on us or the grunters, however I have had a degree to success in betting on the Derby games therefore I think I will be having a splash or two again.

Considering the away fixture, I think that the Home Win / BTTS combo at 3/1 is decent value for money, but then again the Home win / Over 2.5 isn't bad odds either in all fairness.

Will anyone be partaking?

Us to win and BTTS seems decent at 3/1...but alas I don't have enough money to bet enough to make it worth the risk. Might stick a cheeky quid or 2 on a Leon HT on the day, depending on how confident I feel after a few pre-match shandies :D

I think we'll score 2 or more.

I fancy us to score from a set piece, probably a corner - O'Connell's way overdue.

Clarke to score again.

But no way will I be betting on us. If anything I might have something on Wednesday winning 1-0 like I did last time - that worked.

The last time we played them at Bramall Lane!

Sad as I am for remembering it, the bookies gave close to 2/1 on both teams...Something like 7/4. I went for the draw at slightly better odds of 3/1 and we drew 2-2.

Been a long time since I saw evens for a derbe game, never mind odds on.

One of my favourite bets at the moment is over 5 first half corners over 0.5 first half goals and a card received before that usually pays about 4/1 then I follow that up with over 2.5 match goals over 11 corners and over 3.5 cards and that usually pays 6/1 it makes live games that hit more interesting I don’t really do accas anymore coz I’m shite st it

It is strange that we have gone from being light years behind them in August to clear favourites 5 months later. As funny as it is, I don't like going into a derby with the pressure on.

I don't bet on Blades games as a general rule, and I also don't bet on anything other than straight match results as a general rule, so I don't have an opinion really

I am as nervous as the next going into a derby match anytime, cannot abide em, however its far better going into a derby feeling confident and being favourites, of course it wont mean owt come Friday but I will feel a little easier, not much but a bit, I was fuckin awful before the last one, I predict it will be. 1-1 draw, I always feel no matter who is having the better of it before hand it will be a score draw, would I take that now?

I had a dream last night where Lundstram scored within the first 15 minutes - edge of the box beauty.

I woke up shortly after that though so I can't tell you the final result but at least it might help with any first scorer bets.

I think the pressure is all on the pigs it would be bad enough for them should we do the double but it will also move them closer to a relegation battle with a manager who has never experienced English football, worrying times for the pigs who might have to explain who is putting all the money in through a string of fake companies sooner rather than later.

If both teams play to their best form this season, obviously the Blades will win. If they show their best form and we show the form since losing Coutts we'll have to settle for a point.

Pressure is definitely on the pork. With tunaman still talking about playoffs, a double to prevent and Sparks' keyboard player to impress, it's a must win for that lot.

A drilled high intensity blades performance will kill em. Can't wait.

I wouldn't worry mate. It's a well known fact that as we age our memories become less effective. o_O

Care with bets lads. Same ref as Bristol City at home. We had a man sent off, denied 1st minute penalty, totally dominated the game and lost

Fence sitter, lets it flow, anything can happen, could well brandish loads of cards even red when the game is out of hand.

Thanks Dbat. Great report, maybe best ever.

On the ratings I disagree about the referee as I thought he was a ball watcher, never gave one of the many fouls by centre backs in the back of strikers, only gave fouls if the player toppled pole-axed down and almost invited Flecks tackle which came after 15 minutes of frustration and anger about seriously foul play by Bristol who came out for the second half fighting us the only way they could stop us, totally different from the spirit the first half was played in. The ref flitted around the periphery of it all. He also missed that penalty first minute.

Have referees stopped giving fouls by defenders in the back of strikers? Also do they give any fouls if the player doesnt exaggerate the contact?

The substitutions were bizarre Im afraid but who are we to question the Messiah? Seriously I could not be more delighted with our team perfomance last night and pinch myself every game that we have come so far so soon.

If Wilder wants to blast the ref, have a tussle with their manager and go a bit too adventurous with his subs, its fine by me!!

Above my post on Deadbats thread re Bristol City game. City came out from half time and kicked us to bits and then Fleck gave them some back and got sent off. Be warned United.take care with your bets Blades anything can happen, refs a ball watcher or pretends to be sometimes.

Wasn't the Fleck sending off the first red card that ref has given all season? And a deserved one at that.

Maybe and it was Fleck's first ever I think.

My point is he had not clamped down on Bristol and Fleck was wound up by then.

I hope I'm wrong to be worried re Friday. It's the only thing that's bothering me. I was going to back us 'heavily', for me anyway.

Wednesdays only chance is to kick us off our game.

Not wanting to jinx anything, but a decent bet is Donaldson for a brace at 10/1 then add the hatrick at 80/1...

Looking at how clarke got one on one with them in the last game they won’t catch Clayton if they play high up the pitch this time, and he likes to get a couple.. the third is a cherry on the cake I know...but..he’s capable especially if he gets one early and they wobble.. (Leon is 5/1 and 28/1 for the same bet btw)

I think they’re the front two on Friday ... barring a bit of loyalty to an out of form Sharp..

The only thing that lucky lucky man can change in 5 days is to sort a defensive formation out, my belief is he’s gonna spend all week tightening and drilling defence over there, they’ll play us on the break when we lose the ball like Nigel Clough does and come for a point, anything else is a bonus for them, we need an early goal to blow his plan out of the water..

If we can really hit them hard early on, on and off the pitch, and get an early goal I think they'll absolutely crumble.

All I ask is that we turn up and try to play our way. You can ask no more than that.
