Well it looks like the absurd decision to

And when you try and get in to a family stand on your own? Hopefully the stewards aren't too picky.
When my daughter comes, she always sits with us in the family stand. Also, there are loads of adults without kids, who were promised they could sit back in that stand when it was rebuilt. Unless I've missed a whoosh moment, there won't be a problem.

I've got a restricted view seat on the Pukka Pie corner too. I'm praying I'm not stuck behind this brick wall !

I've been in the Pukka Pie stand a few times, to be honest describing those unoccupied seats in your photograph, as 'restricted view' is like describing Steve Evans as slightly overweight. You can barely see the dugouts never mind the Bramall Lane end :(

What’s your (or your kid’s) masterplan for joining together two stands with vastly different rakes?

A magic staircase with dragons that you sit on and special chairs that tickle you and feed you sweeets.
And presents.
Lots of presents.
And no nasty mummy and daddy shouting.
And more presents.

It appears restricted view tickets are sold at the normal price. Surely they should be reduced?
You think they would knock a few quid off for people. When you go to the theatre (parallels have been drawn with BDTBL) the restricted seats are sold at a reduced rate, so I don't see why someone should have to pay full price to sit behind a pillar on the Kop.

Of course, people could purchase these and not sit there (when it is not a sell out) and save a few quid. However, the club could easily get around this by not selling restricted seats until all the unrestricted view seats were sold.

It’s not an absurd decision at all, by the way. It’s as effective a way as any of trying to ensure that the ground is packed with Blades rather than pig interlopers. I obtained two tickets for Blades in the BLUT myself. Anyone who used his/her season ticket to assist a Pig is a NBW.

As ever, our club can’t win whatever they do.
What does NBW stand for?

I must say, I don't know how 'restricted' my view of the pitch will be from my seat in the not very pukka corner. The plan of the seats is stylised not to say schematic, so is it possible that I'm in a seat that you can't see the Bramall Lane end goal from? (you know, the seats that are so hidden away they are still bright red as opposed to bleached-out pink)

- is it that bad (in which case, I'll skulk about somewhere else where I CAN see from. I was under the impression that they may not sell them at all and if they do, they should be cheaper than the rest (mine cost £34).

I reckon Heffernan pinched the seat I was trying to buy (grrrr.)

and I see Sean Thornton rolled out of bed fighting this morning, what's up Sean, was it the wind?

Headache.

it's sold out unless you've got kids. Wanted kids my whole life but my ex wife couldn't have them. I'm been punished for that now too! Haha

I made a similar mistake for Spurs league cup home game. I rang up and said my dad sat on the john street could I have a ticket on there. Yes was the reply. No issues getting in either.

That’s one for Isablade Kingdom Brunel...

what a fuckin disaster building that corner was. my two year old could have designed that better. looks horrendous and most of the seats look restricted view. I've never sat in there but surely they could have done better when designing it.

It used to be part of the kop with its own steps. I stood there for a number of years and in my opinion was the best view. Micky Adams says it was his favourite place too. I can’t remember when it was partitioned off or why as I lived away for a number of years

That’s unkind. I have only just been discharged from the SSSH recently, me, following a Faxgag related injury. You have set back my recovery with your cruel satire. I hope you can sleep at night.

Fucking traitorous cunt. Who the fuck does that?

Besides the fact that seat should go to a Blade, if they get a last minute winner (shudder) and he breaks character next to the wrong person, he's not going to have a very nice time.

thats low & to be honest he's neither a utd fan or good friend. because 1 why would you let enemy in & risk your friends health

exactly but that wednesday fan knows the consquences we already seen once v norwich what happens when anger & adrenaline gets better of people & that guy got knocked out. i remember in a beamback where ade akinbuyi scored. the police had to rush up the wednesday kop stairs to save a utd fan from a beating

I’ve been in the JS stand without a child 2 or 3 times. Never stopped.

To be honest I’m certain the stewards remit is only to make sure that adults tickets are used by adults and chil tickets are used by kids.

No way are they checking to make sure adult and a kid come through as a pair.
You can easily say you’ve come in a family group and you plan to meet them inside the ground.

Plus the technology is there to aid even the most mentally challenged yellow jacketed denizen of security. Different coloured lights!

(Yes colour blindness is an issue , which presumably is the safety issue for dogs not being allowed in, but right and left shouldn't be, err, sorry, not thought this through)

As you were....

At the very least he'll be ejected. Won't listen though.

I'm no architect danny but surley we could have done something much better than that. look at the other corner for instance.

Well the little corner bit with the white wall was a pretty fragile looking concrete structure, did they knock it down when they built the John St. stand or when they put seats on the Kop?

*********************************

As for joining two stands of unequal pitches you just take the steeper stand (the John St.) around the corner so that the concrete triangular side wall is in line with the touchline next to the John Street stand. [ you lose seats on the kop as a result of this ]
for those who went Derby, its what they did there at the corner with the stacked up private boxes and the scoreboard.

or:

you restrict the height of the corner seating to the same height as the seats in the John Street Stand with or without boxes behind them. [ you lose a few restricted view seats from the Pukka corner if you do this - but you could have a few more boxes ]

or:

you chamfer the boxes at the kop end of the John Street stand back in a line between the Bramall Lane/John St. corner flag and the seat on the back row of the Pukka corner nearest to Bramall Lane. [ you gain a few seats in the Pukka corner but lose boxes ]

*********************************

to make corner stands that really work in the ground and don't cause blind spots, you must be prepared to reshape existing stands - but that is difficult to tell a client because it costs more.
The architects of the Pukka corner probably didn't tell 'us' what we were getting and I believe the head of the practice that designed it probably didn't even realise how bad the design was because I believe he only ever went to one football match and he left that at half-time.

Oh and my sponsors have been on to me and require a 'name-check', Vorpal Blade's tickets are brought to him by ........

The restricted views at QPR were a bit cheaper, which was pretty good as they were only (slightly) restricted while ever you were sitting down :)

This thread is like one of those sit coms where several people keep talking about different things to each other and getting all confused.

I think the gist is that some pig fan couldn’t get a ticket for the puka corner but drank some magic potion made from crab juice and bird shit and now a small child has appeared and the view is no longer restricted.

He has however been punched in the kidneys while doffing his cap to a fax machine.

Goodness knows if the pig or the imaginary child will count in the attendance figure.

Being a very non technical person, thanks for your explanation, which I understood ok. Option 2 would be the best, but I imagine they will have already got plans in hand to integrate it back into the kop if that development ever takes place. I’m just hoping I’m around long enough to see it and perhaps have a ticket in there. And thanks to your sponsor, still working it out!
