Business before the weekend

That fact of the matter is that we don't have an owner who wants or is able to use the football club as his plaything. While this isn't wholly bad, it does mean we operate more like a business than most.

If people want someone to rail against, it's the individuals who don't want to buy us. That said, given what is happening to our mega-bucks cousins across the city, maybe our approach isn't all that bad after all.

Only a few missing on this thread. Hope they're all "okay"......

Considering how well Wilder has done with the budget he got, I think we would have had a very good chance at automatic had he actually been able to spend what we received in sell on fees. Real shame.

Good point.

Obviously the trusty old Money Tree would pick up the £6m loss from June 17's accounts and so this 'bonus money'should be free to spend.

Where's the semi-final moneh gone, McCabe?

This year's losses were predicted to be lower but how were they going to be covered if walker ,Maguire and Murphy not triggered clauses that financially benefited SUFC ?
The chairmen would have covered them ,why can't they still do that and use the windfall for a possible promotion challenge ?

Yup spot on.Of course if they don't a few cahnts of 'sack the board' and some shoes off in the car park should make it all right.

Yes, why can't they chuck in £3m each to cover the losses. We pay £3 for a pie, so they should be grateful we allow them to chuck a few million in.

After all they area all loaded, they have the moeny tree and also all that semi final moneh that McCabe has taken out of the club.

Did you read my post ?
They've been covering the losses anyway and would have been this season
You've basically just repeated what you said in your previous post

Sadly, yes.

Yes they have to. It's a Blades Law.

God knows what would happen if they can't or won't, but you seem pretty confident, so WTFDIK.
I seem pretty confident about what ?
I don't understand your attitude ,I merely pointed out that the chairmen have been plugging the financial holes last few seasons and Surely would have this season
They've had seven million drop in their laps and now they're going to use that instead

Is it an unreasonable question to Wonder what would have happened if they had not been gifted this money

Don't bother with anymore sarcy childish reply or girly hashtags

If you don't know just say so

We don’t need to spend money. We just need to find wilder type players.

Oh how some thought Clarke, Duffy, sharp, Coutts fleck etc couldn’t do it at this level. Look at lundstram, moving up the gears now.

You get me a couple of loans with the right attitude to supplement what we have and watch us go.

Ask pigs what it’s like to spunk your load

Fair enough and of course I don't know.

I am just bemused why you (and many others) automatically assume they will always plug the losses as if it were somewhere writ in stone.

I only assume they will as they have so far and must have been planning to this season
Unless they budgeted for walker and Maguire to move on

We wouldn't have brought in any players we had to pay any transfer fees for this close season, maybe sold Fleck or Coutts (or both ) and Brooks would be at Liverpool or Spurs by now?

I'm sorry Chris, I know we promised Liverpoolesc funding for you, butScreenshot_20180101-210847.jpg we just haven't managed to sell enough pies, and the the decision not to sell the white shirt has bitten us in the arse!
Oh and we've invested the sell on cash in new bmw x5's for the family.
Next year though, you can have as much as you want....honest.....

The budget is whatever it is for good reason.

Does anyone really believe that KM wouldn’t give Wilder more money if it was there?

We got a few nice little Brucie bonus sell on fees, that I honestly feel were used to ensure we kept a fair few quality championship standard players at the club long term instead of selling one or two to cover losses that the owners don’t want to cover.

Let’s remember they have lost a hell of a lot of money keeping the club afloat, and could have let it go to the wall if they hadn’t. So is it not fair we at least let them have a year or twos grace while we build steadily and see what happens?

I’m happy that Wilder will be allowed to move a few on, spend a little on similar players to those he has succeeded with in the past and end the January window having a stronger squad than when he started January.

The mighty Bury have offered £15 for our kitchen sink too.

Why did the fax machine cross the road?

Because in the digital age of Dado-realism, it really had no choice.

What did the snowman say to McCabe's sofa?

Can you smell carrots....

I'm here all week

Do you know any jokes?

I've been critical of McCabe on here over the years. I've always thought he's had the club's interests at heart, but I think he's made some awful decisions over the years, to borrow poker terms, often sticking when he should have raised (especially at the start of the 2006 season), and then raising when he should have been more cautious. I'm sure he knows this himself, and has obviously felt the (added financial) damage far more than we have as supporters.

This is surely the time to go "all in", throw anything and everything you have at this manager? I'm not suggesting we need to "do a Wednesday" and bankrupt the club on high-earning players chasing the Premier League dream. Simply put, Wilder's transfer record is second-to-none, he's been given (relative) scraps and turned them into gold. There's no doubt he's in the plus column when it comes to the current value of assets vs money spent (i.e. resulting in a profit, even if only on paper). This isn't a one off, he's proven this at other clubs.

Imagine if Wilder had signed and improved players like he has Clarke and Duffy but had bought them 10+ years younger? For sure there would be transfer fees involved, but imagine the crazy bids we'd be fighting off now for a (e.g.) 21 year old Clarke/Duffy? I'm not saying we should buy players to sell them, simply that on his record so far, he's (mostly) proven he can bring players in and increase their value.

Lets give Wilder a decent transfer budget and let him work his magic (again)!
