I hate to complain because I would have taken this league position at Xmas if asked at the start of the season ....... no question.

Having said that ...... I'm disappointed in Tufty today as I think he's taken one for the team ....... I was expecting him to apologise to the supporters for that pathetic and inept performance, which I think is the worst I've seen under Wilder since the first half against Southend.

There wasn't a player who could be nominated for man-of-the-match imho ...... the whole lot were very poor and I can only presume that they were all up until 4am on the Peroni because that is a Blades side I don't recognise since Tufty came in.

As for 7 or 8 out of 10 ........ I would give 4/10 today ...... poor showing and the players should hang their heads in shame. I can live with us being beaten if we're outplayed by a better side, but today we were bullied and devoid of any fight ...... :(:(

Agree with Tufty on transfer window though ........ we need 4/5 in, a few out and if McCabe tries to sell Brooks he should be vilified for it !!! o_O

QPR, Millwall, and Preston we were wretched.

Nowhere near that bad today. After a ragged first 30 minutes we were the better team by far, dominated possession and created a number of chances without being anywhere near our best.

Not to say there aren't problems, because there are several. But for me this was more akin to the Birmingham game with the difference that we couldn't get a goal.

Not sure what CW is doing here...I fully expected him to come out and slate the total lack of effort today....we were poor for the entire game and got what we deserved....nothing.

Outplayed by Gary fucking Madine says it all.....he was excellent.

Some big and bold decisions need to be made and I'm sure CW will have no trouble making them.

Because of the standards Wilder has set then that was wank and for him to gloss over it like that is something I’m not used to.

Bad team selection which he has admitted to but more importantly was the football we played. It was very pedestrian like with Lunny having a really poor game which I didn’t expect after his inspiring performances recently.

Wilder will sort it, he always does when something goes wrong but this was self explanatory imo.

Writing this on the hoof (get it) as I listen so might make a few errors

Very frustrating, Got caught up in the way they play in the first 10 minutes Correct WHY?
Only one team in it after the goal. Dominated the game. Sorry Chris we had a fair bit of the ball but looked clueless
Madine was outstanding.
No he was a dirty cheating bastard who got away with it
We didn't have the quality. Had enough of the game, been good enough from box to box and conceded a rubbish goal. Well you could refuse to play Cart horse Vickers until he gets some proper footwear falling his arse has cost us goals this season
When I look at other Championship games I think we are a decent footballing side Still been in relegation form since Coutts got injured
Birmingham 8/10 performance, Bristol 9/10, Sunderland 8/10, Bolton 8/10 and we have got 4 points. It's those things that might be the difference why we won't go up.
Bullshit good v Bristol decent v Mackems but shit V Brum and shit today.
I know what I want to do January. We need clever players. We need sharper players.
Will those above let you ?
We are the widest team in the league. We have pace in the team. This formation undoes teams willy nilly what we are lacking is the final bit. To get that though you know what needs to happen (Money)
Are you saying we don't have any ?
Best team loss today. Only one team wanting to play football. Don't enjoy dominating games and not putting teams to bed
Best team is debatable I wouldn't say hardly making a worthwhile chance is dominating
Can't remember anyone other than Brentford that have dominated us at home. It's bittersweet as we are top 6 but there is more we can do
CCV was taken off for tactical reasons. It was a risk playing Baldock with his injuries. Changed Clayton because he hasn't played much and didn't want him being out for a month along with George with their injury issues. Maybe made the wrong choice
Certainly did if we are playing Bash on the right it has to be in a 442 he is not a wing back we saw that weeks ago
Can't say Sharp isn't scoring due to lack of service. He didn't play well today. He's got 8 goals and had good periods. Leon hasnt been left out because his performances have been consistently good
Leon apologised after the game but thought overall he was very good
Sharpe has been shit for weeks is he the only other option ?

Garbage today - compared to the feasts we've had this year. Others have sussed Wilders tactics and he's not countering their plays. Bolton were the better team today - clear game plan to cut through our gaps. Flying centre backs are fine if they've got the quality to deliver it - playing with the energy and intelligence. Stear CCV are not good enough to last a season and Basham is jack of all trades but hasn't mastered CB,RWB or CM yet - needs a full season in one position. Flying CB's will get the team promoted but we need 2 others to partner JoC .

Worrying how we were outfought today they were pulling, tugging in general playing the man before the ball, the ref wasn't going to stop them so it was up to our players to do the same and win the battles we were as soft as shit today. Not nice to watch but Bolton come with a plan to stifle us with two banks of four and hoof it over the top, make sure we never got an overload on either flank, scored with their only real effort when Bash and Calamity Vickers let them get behind us and them comfortably saw the new hour out because we lacked and quality all over the pitch. MOTM? not even going to think about one.

It depends how big a time period you want to put on ‘things are absolutely fine’ because our recent form is a BIG worry. The only side we’ve beaten in the past 8 is the worst side I’ve seen since... well... I actually can’t remember.

Since us last season.:)

I agree with most of what you said but they didn't have two banks of four they played 3-5-2 with 8 of them behind the ball predominantly

Not sure if it’s already been said as I’ve not read the other posts but Wilder really, really wasn’t happy with the performance today. He kept the team in the changing room until about 7pm to go through different things

You get the impression that Tufty and Parkinson are no longer friends from the interview!

I don’t think they ever were – he always seems to make a point in interviews about one of the coaches being a good mate of his rather than the manager. One of the biggest tragedies from today’s result is being denied a depressing Parkinson interview on a defeat bemoaning his luck.

Also, another thing that's been bugging me - why can't we fucking shoot on target ? Every twat and his dog can score against us from outside of the box, but we can't even get the fucker on target. We just don't have that in our locker do we ?

For those of us that remember Woody, it makes you weep.

Just read a Bolton fan say Parkinson always stays classy after a defeat. He nearly started crying last season when we played them off the park .

Always annoying to lose to teams who are clearly shit at actually playing football and I think Wilder spoke like a fan after the game. It was a the sort of horrible, niggly, non spectacle of a game that Bolton survive on and we didn't do enough to make it the easy win it should have been.

How can the ultimate smash and grab raid be seen to some as 'deserved'.

How did we deserve nothing? We conceded to the usual single chance our opponents have and should have had at least 1 goal ourselves.

Ridiculous assessments from some.

For him to quote that Parkinson knew how we would play and then say that he knew how Bolton would play, prompts a very obvious retort.

Gary fuckin Madine..........really?

Very soft goal to give away, just like Preston the other week.

I know players need to have a multitude of skills these days, but can anyone imagine Gary Madine intimidating, shoving and bullying Chris Morgan around? We were crying out for a hard nut yesterday, and that would have been Jake Wright. Not that Stearman did too much wrong yesterday, just that sometimes, you need someone with a bit more grit when you dealing with a clogger like Madine.

It was nailed on that that twat would score, and we gave him the easiest tap in.

Donaldson should have started as well.

Should have been an easy three points.

I think Wilder has his head a bit too far up his system. He's right that we wouldn't want to watch what Bolton do every week, but ineffective slow tippy tappy isn't great to watch either, and at least mixing it up a bit with a lumbering oaf like Hanson would give the opposition something else to think about rather than having a fairly easy day out against a team devoid of ideas when plan A doesn't work.

Carruthers never has any impact on games, but since Brooks has been missing he seems to be the only midfielder Wilder will even try. It's admirable to have a good footballing philosophy, but when it clearly isn't working, the option of something else should at least be available, if only to disrupt the opposition enough for the proper football to break through.

Wilder was outmanaged by Parkinson who had his team well organised and shackled the midfield with close, pretty much man-marking to great effect.
Wouldn't be surprised if one or two other teams take note of how they stopped Duffy and Fleck from playing and finding much space a lot of the time.
As the year turns it feels like we're at the crossroads, with some decent foundations but, as was blindingly obvious yesterday, with a need for some new players to revitalise the squad to offer options when plan A isn't working.

lets have some perspective here ,we'v come a hell of a long way in a short period on lets be fair here a shoestring .
the way tufty expects the players to cover every blade of grass win every ball close down all over the pitch is very tough on the team especially with our squad .
expectations yesterday were turn up and beat bolton like we did sunderland but a few months ago us and bolton was a top of the table clash.
yesterday we just looked lead legged in body and mind .

wilders getting the most out of these players so some days are not going to go our way.
how many times did warnocks teams play like bolton did and nick a win ,so fair play to them.

the pressure is on the board to support the manager or this may be as far as we can get to without better players and a stronger squad..we need a very good transfer window .
I'm not expecting anything from derby but you never know , we'r still heading in the right direction despite yesterdays disappointment.

Listened to the interview and talk about sour fecking grapes. If he's such an expert on how Bolton play why didn't we win. There's was nothing rubbish about their goal. It came from a good bit of play; a good cross; and a tap in. Wish we could score rubbish like that. Derby next. Does he know how they play?

How do you know this?

I hope Wilder isn't becoming delusional, he can't think that was ever a good performance from us. I'd give us 4's across the board apart from Bladock/ Donaldson and maybe Clarke.
Bolton didn't even have to do much today, some simple pressing of our attackers and one decent attack resulting in a goal and 3 points, very disappointing.

Not surprised at all. Despite his comments in the post match interview, I can't believe there wouldn't be a fair bit he wasn't happy with in that performance.

Some players looked casual imho.

I think a Chris watched a different game to me.

Bolton did a job on us but we didn’t seem to have the wherewithal to change things yesterday. They put an extra player out wide to stop our wingbacks and WCB’s getting crosses in and that seemed to nullify any sharp passing moves. Some crosses came in but they were ponderous allowing their defence to set themselves up until later in the game when they tired and Baldock came more and more into it, but even then none of the team seemed to be on their game enough to do anything with them. They’d not just lost their shooting boots, they’d lost their trapping and passing boots as well almost to a man. Lundstram went back to his early form and Fleck played as though he hadn’t had a break in month, not just back after a 3 match ban.The only players who showed anything for me were Stearman, Baldock and Duffy in patches, even Clarke spent most of the game trying to stop the ball running away from him even if he put in the effort, and the two misses were shocking by his standards.

As for Billy, it’s hard to know what to say about him, he was even leaden footed when he could have picked up on a couple of half chances, I’m sure he could have done more with Clark’s first half miss and stopped the ball going for a corner at the very least. He’s in shocking form right now but he was up there with the Championship’s leading goal scorers in November with 8 goals and was very unlucky not to score a brace as recently as the Bristol game when I thought he played well. I can’t believe that any player suddenly ‘loses it’ for good halfway though a season, let alone one who’s just had the year of his lifetime. Maybe he’s not 100% or maybe there’s something happening behind the scenes we don’t know about? There’s certainly been a few other decent players out there in recent weeks (for example Stevens, O’Connel, Clarke and Brooks) who for me have not been at their best even if it’s not been as noticeable as Billy’s dip, and I’m not having it that’s it’s down to losing Coutts.

We’ll soon know if there’s anything negative going on behind the scenes, the windows almost open. I think what we do in it will tell us all we need to know. UTB.
