Wilder coming across as very Warnock-like when we lose, quite bitter and delusional.

Bolton 100% deserved to win, they had our cards marked from kick-off and knew exactly how to stop us from playing by not giving Duffy any room and closing us down quickly.

We were out-fought, out-bullied and deserved nothing. Wilder is delusional.

And you are a Pig,worry about your own team

This thread is shocking, as if your throwing words like delusional round about wilder???? Probably the most down to earth realistic manager around.

We’re gunna lose games but he gets far more right than wrong. Just back him and the team and enjoy the fact we’re still 6th in the championship in our first season back!!!! Tiny budget and beating teams like pigs, Leeds, wolves, derby etc...

We’re always gunna get a few dodgy results

They did not deserve to win. We missed two absolute sitters to their one chance. We were garbage and still should've won.

Yes, his interview after the game was delusional. Calling that a 7.5/8 out of 10 performance is delusional. We deserved nothing.

After the first 20 mins we battered them, it was one way traffic and there’s nothing delusional about that, go check the stats. We carved out about 4/5 clear cut chances which he addressed in the interview saying we lacked the final bit of quality.

Maybe a less dramatic and less daft statement would be ... I disagreed with the score wilder gave the performance but it was quite a long interview and almost everything said was bang on.

Calm down boys and girls ffs .

Wilder was undone yesterday by Wilder and no one else . We got caught out yesterday because ( a ) he picked a side to negate the opposition . Basham for Baldock and Sharp for Donaldson for example . And ( b ) he had his eye fairly and squarely upon our New Years day game . Baldock and Donaldson again .

A goal down so early left us struggling , we'd squandered the opportunity to get in and around them early and consequently struggled all game . Did Bolton deserve the win ? Yes they did . They did exactly what they had planned and executed it perfectly . Did we deserve anything ? Absolutely not . We had set up to negate them and failed miserably .

Yesterday was the most ' unwilderesque ' set up and performance I've seen . The good thing is we are unlikely to see it again anytime soon .

I agreed with some of what Chris said - namely we have played well in games against the likes of Bristol City and not got a result because we lack the quality to get the winning goal/killer pass on a consistent basis.

However, I dont think we were great against Bolton. Yes, we restricted them to one chance, and we missed two really good chances, but they had us sussed and made it very difficult for us to break them down. We looked a bit out of ideas at times. We hoofed it way too much - which is exactly what Bolton wanted.

Yesterday was clearly one of these games where we needed somebody who can generate a bit of magic on the pitch (from nothing) to win it. I think Chris was basically saying that is the sort of player we lack at the moment. I like the fact he is openly challenging the board to support him. Not sure how far they will though.

No way in a million years did Bolton deserve to win. We had plenty of players off their game and they did what they had to do well enough, but even after all that we should have won it. That’s our problem, we don’t seem to do scruffy wins, we’re all or nothing right now.

He is only delusional if he actually believes what he said. I don't think for one moment that he did believe it. He just came out with a form of words sufficient to deal with his media obligations.

It is a poor manager who lays into his players in public.

I think that in the privacy of the dressing room Wilder will have given a very different opinion to the players of how the game went.

Guess it depends what you look at.

Yes Bolton won, but:

65% vs 35%
16 shots vs 4 shots
5 on target vs 2 on target
8 corners vs 5 corners

That probably makes a good case statistically they shouldn’t have been allowed to. Same conversion rate should have shown 4-1,

All about opinions but other than it being ‘a good away performance’ did the above really merit an away win?

They scored one, we scored zero. The goalposts never move and they have to have a goalkeeper, it’s rather simple this statistical analysis. :D

Writing this on the hoof (get it) as I listen so might make a few errors

Very frustrating, Got caught up in the way they play in the first 10 minutes

We know how they play. They smash it up to Madine and try and win a free kick. I'd prefer not to play that way

If they were as tactically good as they say they are they would have opened up 5 times today but it was nothing to do with them opening us up

Only one team in it after the goal. Dominated the game.

Madine was outstanding.

Our fans wouldn't want us to play the way Bolton do

We didn't have the quality. Had enough of the game, been good enough from box to box and conceded a rubbish goal.

When you have 4 or 5 good chances you have to take them at this level. We get into great positions but the final ball isn't good enough

When I look at other Championship games I think we are a decent footballing side

Birmingham 8/10 performance, Bristol 9/10, Sunderland 8/10, Bolton 8/10 and we have got 4 points. It's those things that might be the difference why we won't go up.

I know what I want to do January. We need clever players. We need sharper players.

We are the widest team in the league. We have pace in the team. This formation undoes teams willy nilly what we are lacking is the final bit. To get that though you know what needs to happen (Money)

Best team loss today. Only one team wanting to play football. Don't enjoy dominating games and not putting teams to bed

Can't remember anyone other than Brentford that have dominated us at home. It's bittersweet as we are top 6 but there is more we can do

CCV was taken off for tactical reasons. It was a risk playing Baldock with his injuries. Changed Clayton because he hasn't played much and didn't want him being out for a month along with George with their injury issues. Maybe made the wrong choice

Can't say Sharp isn't scoring due to lack of service. He didn't play well today. He's got 8 goals and had good periods. Leon hasnt been left out because his performances have been consistently good

Leon apologised after the game but thought overall he was very good
It’s that last part that has me extremely concerned.

Defo a case of Rose Tinted. IMHO.

I think Wilder has his head a bit too far up his system. He's right that we wouldn't want to watch what Bolton do every week, but ineffective slow tippy tappy isn't great to watch either, and at least mixing it up a bit with a lumbering oaf like Hanson would give the opposition something else to think about rather than having a fairly easy day out against a team devoid of ideas when plan A doesn't work.

Carruthers never has any impact on games, but since Brooks has been missing he seems to be the only midfielder Wilder will even try. It's admirable to have a good footballing philosophy, but when it clearly isn't working, the option of something else should at least be available, if only to disrupt the opposition enough for the proper football to break through.

This delusional bloke your on about has given me more pleasure watching United in the last 18 months than I’ve had in any previous 18 months of watching in the last 50 years. Just look at the official stats they don’t lie.

It seemed to me as if we were almost scared of Bolton and paid them too much respect. It's the first time I can remember CW setting up to counter the opposition rather than just doing what we're best at....and I didn't like it. 5/10 performance for me.

Brilliant or Gash. There’s no middle way for the S2 scoreline pundits.

Once again, the most significant thing was Tufty’s unequivocal and absolutely correct condemnation of ugly, grotesque hoof and, yet again, his clear emphasis on quality proper football.

The hoofers have gone quiet and are looking the other way, hoping this crystal clear statement of our manager’s football philosophy will quietly fade away.

Sorry Hoofers. It won’t.

❤️⚔️. ❤️⚽

I actually can't believe that there's people who think Bolton deserved the win :-/.

It's akin to saying we deserved to beat Cardiff away.
