Being reported Baldock not ready for tonight.

If true, this would for me hasten the need to add a loan for this position in January. The wingback roles are too important to our style to not have a specialist in there that can keep fit, and the length of time it’s taking Baldock suggests he might be stop-start for the rest of the season. We can’t afford that.

Sadly, you could be right. If Freeman is still some time away from being fit, we can't do half a season with only one RWB. Even if Baldock isn't injury prone he could still get clattered and injured, or clatter someone and get a three match ban.

I wouldn't know about that. I haven't seen much gentle criticism on here. It tends to be quite brutal, although I think that's partly because a lot of posters are too familiar with the language of the tabloids and the hyperbole of football talk in the media. And, of course, the written word can lack the nuances of spoken conversation.

STFU

What if Gearge Long gets injured? Who do we call back off loan?

QPR, Birmingham come to mind

Yes, any other ‘keeper would have held onto the ball after crashing down from a great height. It’s the first thing taught in goalkeeper school. And keeping out 25-yard curling efforts. Elementary stuff

QPR - a collision, not an error.
Birmingham - stunning goal, few goalies at any level would have kept that out.

There have been goals where you think it might have been saved, but all goalkeepers have those. He has not let in a howler this season. If you want to see howlers, watch Match of the Day/Channel 5 on a Saturday evening. Most weeks there are several disasters, some by well-known keepers. That's not to say he won't make errors, but so far, no problem in my view.

Does any of our senior keepers install you with confidence?

Bristol will be shooting on site tonight and my heart will mouth every time they get a site of goal

Yes, they both do. One a little more than the other, which is why I'd stick with him. Oh for the days of Howard (who I thought was OK) and Simonsen
There’s a young man in our u23s who is the real deal time will tell.

I'm amazed some people think the qpr howler was not a howler. It was utterly ridiculous.

The fault for the Birmingham goal didn't lie with Blackman but with letting their kid have the freedom of the park to line up his shot. Specifically, Fleck should have closed him down quicker. Or at all.

I remember a couple of years ago we conceded a unusually high number of goals from distance and they were treated as divine providence rather than something we could actually help to avoid. Thank God we've got a manager now who might spot these trends and help teach his players to avoid them.

It most definitely was a howler but was the sort of howler that could happen to just about any keeper anywhere and wasn’t as a result of how good Blackman is or isn’t.

2 players going to stop ball and opponent collide - that's an accident, not a howler. Look at errors by Mignolet, Carson ( at the Lane for Derby), etc., if you want to see proper howlers.

Please be wrong! If he is out, I hope Wilder swaps CCV for Basham, so that Bash is back in the middle and CCV can attack more freely out at right wing back.

No communication from blackman didn't help the situation. He doesn't speak.

I see this sort of comment a lot on here and I always wonder how people know. I sit fairly close to the front of the kop, behind the net, and I’ve never heard Simon Moore making any noise but everyone is always saying he never shuts up. In actual fact I never hear any of our players but I’m sure some of them must be talking, how do people know that Blackman never speaks?

Have you considered consulting a medical professional? :p

how do people know that Blackman never speaks?

They don't. It's just nonsense. As I've said before, Blackman obviously shouts at CCV at QPR. That's why he doesn't try to head the ball. Unfortunately, he can't simply evaporate into mid air to avoid colliding with Blackman
