I wish they had. We battered them for 40 minutes first half and then, bang, it happens again. Another long range screamer flies past our keeper. Is it just a run of really bad luck, or is there something wrong with our defending?

The fault for the Birmingham goal didn't lie with Blackman but with letting their kid have the freedom of the park to line up his shot. Specifically, Fleck should have closed him down quicker. Or at all.

I remember a couple of years ago we conceded a unusually high number of goals from distance and they were treated as divine providence rather than something we could actually help to avoid. Thank God we've got a manager now who might spot these trends and help teach his players to avoid them.
