Whenever I do one of those sporcle quizzes about United teams of the past, I always forget 2 players who played a lot: Leigh Bromby and Bobby Ford.
Ford of course was one of the primary occupants of the midfield black hole that we had for most of a 25 year period stretching from Jamie Hoyland to Dean Hammond and his unseen work.
Other notable occupants of the hole were Brian "Fordy" Howard, James Harper, Paul "did he really play a full season for us?" Thirlwell and Leon "Emperor's new clothes" Britton.
Michael Boulding. For ten points what other sport did he play professionally?
Jim Leighton?Might be already on but guess who ?
I thought he would be OK for us
And his sister wrote a top ten hit for Alex Parks (OK, I am reading from Wikipedia now)Anyone for tennis?
He was a Sheffielder and a Blade IIRC?
Willie FaulknerMight be already on but guess who ?
I thought he would be OK for us
...Errik Tonne
The other Norwegian we signed with him
...
I'd like to welcome Paul Furlong to the list.
Scored a brace on his debut though, including a late winner from the spot.
Wonder how many in here remember the player in your avatar?I'd definitely forgot about him
Frederick Staples
Played for and managed us .....
Steve Thompson
was he clare's rug muncher.....Michael Boulding. For ten points what other sport did he play professionally?
Ahmed Fathi.
Jean Calvé
jean paul calve, he was a good player, wouldn't go amiss in this team today actually.wow i remember calve, liked him, stylish french right back, scored a cracker too if my memory serves me right
Went to a pre season friendly at East Fife , late 90's, and was sat next to Simon Tracey (who was a sub) in the front row of the stand. Your man Axel started for us and I asked Simon ' Who's he ?' to which his answer was ' Dunno - think he's Greek or summink'Axel Smeets
Completely without any saving grace, despite being immortalised in one of Ted Bovis's poems, Sympathy For The Devil - "Smeets will be beat you...." which was brilliantly and patently untrue.
