Michael Boulding. For ten points what other sport did he play professionally?

Whenever I do one of those sporcle quizzes about United teams of the past, I always forget 2 players who played a lot: Leigh Bromby and Bobby Ford.

Ford of course was one of the primary occupants of the midfield black hole that we had for most of a 25 year period stretching from Jamie Hoyland to Dean Hammond and his unseen work.

Other notable occupants of the hole were Brian "Fordy" Howard, James Harper, Paul "did he really play a full season for us?" Thirlwell and Leon "Emperor's new clothes" Britton.

Let me add to the hole of shame, staring with Ford's partner in the worst midfield I remember (that's some going):

Ian 'West Brom POTY' Hamilton
Nigel 'one last payday' Spackman
Flo 'is he still here' Cuvelier
Nicky 'fat little shit' Henry

and of course, Jonathan 'fuck me sideways' Hunt

Might be already on but guess who ?
I thought he would be OK for us

To quote Donald Rumsfeld, there are things we know we don't know and there are things we don't know we don't know. Are there any players we don't know we have forgotten about? I guess there is no way of knowing!

Axel Smeets

Completely without any saving grace, despite being immortalised in one of Ted Bovis's poems, Sympathy For The Devil - "Smeets will be beat you...." which was brilliantly and patently untrue.

IMG_0315.JPG Not sure if this outstandingly forgettable fullback has been mentioned, yet.

Went to a pre season friendly at East Fife , late 90's, and was sat next to Simon Tracey (who was a sub) in the front row of the stand. Your man Axel started for us and I asked Simon ' Who's he ?' to which his answer was ' Dunno - think he's Greek or summink'
