basically Ozil has said he would sign a new contract if he get a big rise on his £150k a week wages, and he gets the no. 10 shirt - as its aligned to his brand. his Instagram handle is even m10_official.

I wondered what CW would say if this was put to him - I imagine CW as someone who wants plays who want to represent the club. I believe he has aleady said if someone gets an offer of an extra £1000 pw somewhere else they can take it if thats whats matters to them
then thought realisitically when we go up, he will have to deal with knobs like this - even bang average prem players have a 'brand'
We are going to have to fish in this pond to some degree (I appreciate Ozil wont ever be on our radar - and happy about that tbh)

Fergie didn't have too much bother dealing with 'stars'. He wouldn't have entertained that kind of shit. Wilder won't either. We won't be signing World Cup winning internationals any time soon, so won't have to deal with prima donnas like Oezil and being soft on players with less ability just leads to failure and the sack. Ask Bilic. I can't see us ever signing a prick like Arnautovic whilst Wilder is in charge.
We'll continue to sign players on the up, as well as developing our own but if they get too big for their boots, we'll get rid.

Fair point, but it’s a bit easier playing hardball when you’re already one of the biggest clubs in the world, paying players some of the highest salaries in the world.

I think, reading into the comments Wilder's made, he likes to simplify contracts as much as possible and offer the player a fair wage (not contingent on a bunch of bonuses and such). It's not the case that we don't, under Wilder, offer improved deals. We've updated contracts for a few players (Brooks most recently). I assume that what Wilder is trying to do is offer players a deal that is based on: their value to the team, their market value, the club's financial safety. Having done that, I think the expectation is that if a player is then going to play hardball and start making bigger and bigger demands, they have no leg to stand on and no place at the club.
