True but it’s irrelevant whether Mourinho and Pep could do a job at league 1 level.
Some managers are great with no resources motivating average players whilst others a great with top players, massive egos and top resources.

That’s the point, Wilder is seen (like Warnock) as a top class lower league manager, so he’ll be guaranteed top jobs at league 1 and league 2 level. However at PL (and even Championship level, remember it’s still early) he’s an unknown quantity.

In the olden days clubs would take punts (calculated risks) on lower division talent
But now the PL is so rich that clubs are scared to take any risks and managers are now judged on relevant experience based on their cv.

Also there’s the recent trend of Chairman appointing first team coaches, not managers.
It’s the foreign style where the coach just coaches the team and there’s a committee (including the Chairman) that buys the players.

Wilder likes full control of a club and in many PL clubs that’s just not going to happen.
And that's why some premier clubs end up with perennial losers, like, mcClaren, moyes, redknapp and co.
I know they've had a modicum of success, but their stock has been on a downwoods spiral for years.

I'm as cynical as the next man when it comes to money in football but I don't think chris will leave us anytime soon ,not till he's taken us as far as he thinks he can .

I think he see's us as a top ten club and I reckon he'll be with us for a long time.
if the club stopped moving forward then this might be the time when he can say I've done all I can it's time to move on.
I done think he'll leave for money only ambition.

I heard that last night, and I'm sure that answer was tempered with a nod toward the board, Wilder is clearly overachieving and he (and us) know the chairman will raise the bar next season regardless, this is him saying "back me like you said mate, I have options" it was clearly a comment he knew was coming and he didn't take himself out of the shop window by declaring undying love, I have the feeling wilder keeps everybody on their toes, even the board....and us.. so don't be fickle blades...he's watching you..:D:D

Wilder is like any other human being.

If someone offers to double his money he’ll be off.

I don't believe that for one moment.

The value of money is relative to ones circumstances. If you are 30 years old with a wife and 2 kids to support, a large mortgage to pay off and a shit car on the drive ( road ?) and someone offers to increase your pay from 30 k to 60k then it's usually a no brainer.

None of the above apply to Chris Wilder . He already earns more than any of us could ever dream of , is having great success managing the club that he played for and supports , in the city that he loves , and is surrounded by people who both admire and adore him.

This being the case, how would that situation be improved simply by having an extra million or so go into his bank account for the dubious pleasure of having to move to a different part of the country to manage some basket case Premiership club run by people who don't know him or care about him and who would probably show him the door if he hadn't turned round their shithole of a club in 6 months.

I believe he's made of sterner stuff than that and it's time some on here recognised his passion for our club and have more faith in him as being one of us, rather than having him down as some kind of poor man's Sam Allardyce or Harry Redknapp.

Certainly, the owners recognise this and will support him in any way they can within the limits that we are capable of at present.

Made me titter that....

Firstly, forget Tufty's managing the Blades, and forget that my tail's curly.

In my opinion, any British manager who turns down the PL is making a big mistake.

I said exactly the same when Carlos was courted by the PL 18 months ago. I knew he'd dropped one, and he has.

In that profession you're a hostage to fortune, and if you get a firm chance of managing at that level you grasp it...especially if you're British.
CW doesnt need to turn down a PL job, he has one with the Blades, the club he supports. He starts his PL managers job at BDTBL next season. #SAVECARLOS isnt fit to lick his shoes.

Not necessarily. When you are very comfortable financially already things like being happy where you are become very important. I’ve seen many people in my career come a major cropper through chasing a few extra quid that they don’t really need.

More than that, many people take a cut in money for other job-related reasons.

Tufty left Oxford in 6th place in L2 for Northampton at the bottom of L2 and going broke. Was that a man who is motivated by personal finance?

In the last few weeks, especially since the derby win, the footballing world has sat up and taken notice of the incredible job CW is doing for us. He's had glowing articles on the BBC website and in The Guardian. We know from their forums that many opposition fans (even Wednesday fans!) regard him as one of the best managers around. He's in the shop window.

He's a relatively young man at 50, but even so, he knows he only has 15 or maybe 20 more years to make his mark. He must realize that there's a dearth of good English managers and that if he could prove himself in the Premier League then the England job would be a real possibility down the line. He'll want to be managing at the top level in the next few years, for both financial and professional reasons.

I don't think there's any chance he'll leave while we look like genuine promotion contenders. But if we don't go up this year or next and get stuck as a decent Championship side then I think he'd be foolish to turn down the chance to move up a level. I for one wouldn't begrudge him it.

Well, that confidence for you, New Swanstone.

Why is anybody surprised at this example of moronic piggery ?? o_O

The pig scum have always been arrogant, deluded morons ....... that hasn't changed ......;)

UTB & FTP

Please, Darth.

There was interest from Swansea 18 months ago, and Carlos claimed to have been contacted by others. I'm not sure who, though.

I think it unlikely that they'd be interested now.

Dunno mate, I'm sure there are teams in the Bulgarian Premier League who'd welcome him with open arms :)

Derek Acora claims to have been contacted by the dead and I don't believe him either.

Tell him to tell Bob Monkhouse he still owes money to Crab Industries. Big Vern is an enforcer, not a fucking Ghostbuster.

It tickled me when Acorah was in the King's Chamber in the Great Pyramid, and claimed to be in contact with Cheops. He then got in the stone sarcophagus and crossed his hands across his chest. Ha ha.

Not necessarily. Theres a lot to be said for being happy in your job, liking the people you work with and having the opportunities to achieve what you want from your career.
Do any of you really think he'd turn down triple or more his money if a decent prem side came in for him?

Lets be realistic. He would go as all of us would.
I woud’nt,
I don’t have a money god and neither does Wilder.

Not only from Liverpool, but also making money out of the bereaved to boot. A smack in the Cheops is the least he deserves.

I hope you're right.

I love how much Chris Wilder is getting under their skin right now. A Blade posted on twitter that Chris was at Hallam FC yesterday & the first response was from a Wendy calling him a "Fat old chav" They really are special
