Sheffield United - Cheque or cash please.
Finally West ham have been brought to book for their lying about the "Tevez Affair."
They have agreed to settle with Sheffield United, albeit out of court, and to pay the Blades in the region of £15 to £25 million.
A certain Mr Samuel, lately of this parish and a Hammer to the bone was very critical of Sheffield United at every opportunity. No doubt he and more will be crawling out from under their stones to pour more scorn on United, Kevin McCabe, Chris Morgan, Sean Bean, Junction 33 of the M1, Henderson's Relish, Bramall Lane and United fans in general. No doubt Iain Hume will be brought up more than once, and possibly the names of Steve Kabba and Matthew Spring, although they have as much to do with nuclear physics or the dark side of Martin Samuel's luch as they have with the Tevez Affair.
But here's the main point. Sheffield United haven't been found guilty of anything. And they certainly haven't lied about it.
And now West Ham have agreed a settlement, because they know they are guilty, as guilty as they come.
Another claim from them is that Tevez wasn't really that influential and actually may have been detrimental to the team. Yeah, pull the other one, it's got bells on it. If Tevez wasn't that influential then why was he voted "Player of the Season" by the fans? Why is he on the cover of their end of season dvd? And why did he get such a good reception from the fans on his return with Manchester United?
And never mind that it's not an "admission" of guilt, if it's not then why are they paying?
They are coughing up because they are guilty. And it's about time too.
