I sit in the "new" corner, close to the proposed area. Really good idea as the corner feeds off the ss chants and occasionally vice versa. Having another section close by should really lift the atmosphere.

Great idea and really like the way you've gone about this.

I'm shocked and appalled by this revelation, I'm going to start having to listen a bit more closely :D

Its a great idea Ricky . Although the atmosphere is improving we could provide a bit more vocal support, the players deserve it.
Count me in. Last time I was up there was the Chesterfield party, its a great view.

I wholeheartedly support this initiative. It’s a great idea and very well done for your efforts to put it into practice. Palace have shown how an atmosphere can be created by a relatively low number of fervently vocal fans if you purremclosetagetherangerremsingin.

I have a season ticket sitting with the very few mates I still have left so I will be staying put because they’ll move away if I give them the slightest opportunity. Also I’m not getting any younger and need to sit down with my blanket and flask close by, so none of the ultra stuff I’m afraid.

I’m with you in spirit, though.

I'm sure both of you could be accommodated. :D

When you have all on to try and insisit they don't close half our capacity when we play a team who will bring more than 37 fans, I think pushing them for a view on safe standing might not be too wise.

"Yes you can have safe standing.
One on John St, One in the South Stand, Two on the Kop but at opposite sides and one in the BLLT.
None in the BLUT as it is too high and they might fall"

"Also H Block on the South Stand has to be closed off completely."

Vacancies: Chief Chant Starting Agents

Description:
Stationed on the back row of Gangway E in the Bramall Lane Upper Tier, you will be responsible for leading many of the chants in this section of the ground.

You will be a highly skilled chanter, well versed in the art of selection, timing and variation. You will understand that faster doesn't = better, and won't continually flog chants that won't catch on. Working vocal cords are a major plus, as is the ability to sustain them for the full 90 minutes.

Zero hour contract
, you will typically be required for 2 hours approximately once a month, initially between now and May.

Salary:
Uncompetitive

Regarding safe standing, it's extremely unsavoury how much emphasis is placed on 'safety'.

There is no safety issue to be had.

Standing on its own isn't any kind of problem and never has been.

As long as capacity is controlled then seating areas are more dangerous, especially on steeper stands. The only possible safety issue would arise when jumping around celebrating a goal - it's easy to trip over the seat in front, especially when the back of the seat is shin height. And to be honest the worst thing that can generally happen is scraping your shins. Any sort of rail, on stands of any rake, would be 100% safe. Safer than any seated area.

This is just basic common sense but the authorities are determined to disregard it at all costs. Every possible obstacle is being put in the way. For no reason whatsoever.

It'll take another 20 years for standing to come back in this fucking country and even then it'll be shit.

I can't be there, but good luck.

How about a little song to go with it?

Can't believe you've not mentioned pinchy :D

If you voted in the other poll and plan to go ahead with it for the Bristol City game, VOTE IN THIS ONE TOO.

Reads a lot like a Crab Industries job spec.

Only 29+ so far, from 21 votes.

Still early but less than I'd hoped by this stage. I want to get to at least 50 ASAP.

It seems to be taking off a bit on Twitter now. The account's gained almost 100 followers in the last week or so, and I'd imagine most or at least a lot of them will be in addition to those who've expressed interest on here rather than the same people. So hopefully we're looking at up to 200 interested individuals now.

No doubt you've all seen the other BLUT thread by now. In short, it's about getting a group of Blades up there to help improve our vocal support and home atmosphere. The poll response indicates that over 150 are up for it. If those of you who voted are serious about this, then it should be a success. So please stay true to your word.

The Bristol City game on 8th December is going to be the first attempt. There's more than enough time for everybody to sort things out. Tickets will go on sale on next week (starting 6th Nov) at latest, hopefully sooner.

This is the area we're targeting. I want to see every available seat taken up by us.

So now it's simple. If you have a season ticket, move it to the highlighted area of the BLUT for this game - 'Gangway E, as far back as possible' - this will ensure we fill it from the back row down.
This can be done over the phone or at the ticket office. If moving from the Kop, it's £2. From anywhere else, it's free. If you don't have a ST simply buy a ticket in the specified area.
Try to do this as early as possible. Don't leave it until the week of the game.

If you want to choose specific seats, here's the link. Click on the game when it's available, our targeted area is in 'U3'.

If you want to do this, stay within the back 3 or 4 rows, until we know we have the numbers to fill more.
Ideally the chant starters will go nearer the back - it works better that way.

Unofficial unreserved seating amongst ourselves is an option but to start with we'll just go to the seat on our ticket.

This is a great opportunity for us and it's important that the first attempt is successful, so let's make it work. A good showing should see it develop more naturally.

Please vote in the poll.

I'll keep this thread updated with all the details, as I will the Twitter page... https://twitter.com/BLUT_Blades

Me plus 3 will be up for it mate , I’m glad you’ve put an area on there to gives something to aim around even the outside Brizzle game to , credit it to you pal for trying to organise this

I echo this, I'd also add; don't lose faith if it takes a while to get going. You're right about it having the potential to be something good in the long run and you're going about it the right way!

For what it's worth, I don't think I can make it up there for the Brizzle game, so haven't voted.

Good. Can you change your vote to +1 or more then? Helps me to know what numbers we're on.

I won't lose faith and give up but after what I have and will put into it and after the initial interest indications I'll be disappointed if we can't get a respectable first turnout.

It's a shame the likes of you can't make it thanks to Sky, I would've much rather it been a Saturday game but I didn't want to leave it much later with the next opportunity being the end of December. I also don't think it should take more than 2 months to build sufficient interest.

Today I was sat in F block just next to this. Plenty of students stood chanting "Leon! Leon!"

The first half today was a prime example of when a noisy group in the BLUT would be useful.

Your BLUT takeover better be good after all the shit you give about our home support.

Shit? You mean honest and correct observations?

Discussing the quality of our support shouldn't be beyond the pale. There's no need to be so sensitive about it.

I'm not sensitive at all. I'd even go as far to say I couldn't give a fuck.

I think our support is quite good but trying to force it to be better is futile.

Just remember that honestly and correctly observing (slagging off our support) may come back to you when you are responsible for a part of it on your little crusade.

Couldn't give a fuck so much you felt the need to.post a negative comment.
Just saying.

That to me?

Being negative about Ricky the Ultra being negative. That makes it positive dunnit?

Wait and see how futile it is.

The alternative to forcing it is doing nothing and hoping it miraculously improves. In which case, nothing changes. If our vocal support is not naturally very good now then it never will be.

How will it 'come back to me' exactly? What I'm doing could only improve our support. And if it improves our support at all then you won't have a leg to stand on if you want to try and throw some shit in my direction. In fact you won't regardless.

Ricky the Ultra

Oh dear.
