John Harris, not sure of the year, 71/72,? It was the promotion year from Division 2. Blades 3 Oxford 0. Hooked for life, I will never forget the first time i saw the pitch and stadium when I came up the steps at the Bramall Lane upper tier end as a 9 year old. Thanks Uncle Sid !
I think there were 38,000 there that day, last game of the season.

I was at the front, not far from the cricket scoreboard near the kop, fairly close to where the railings collapsed,it was so foggy i couldn't see a bloody thing.

Makes you wonder how they got 57k into that ground as it was then. Thank god for elf n safety these days

In one of the United player autobiographies (forgot which one) they mention about Squirrel in the club canteen, had tommy sauce or brown sauce on everything then would lick the bottle top ... ergh!!!
"Bring back the Birch" by Alan Birchenall. He played for Notts County after Leicester. Enjoyed the book. Plenty of funny stories!

Anyone who can prove their first match was during John Carver's time as manager wins a £1 million prize.

I remember Sirrel being manager when my dad used to take me to the reserves - but I don't think I ever saw a first team game under JS, so it will have been Haslam. I do have fond memories of Happy Harry's final game in charge at Grimsby after we have been relegated. Despite our poor season, the fans gave him a rousing send off. He came over to us, and people were throwing their scarves over him and singing "one happy Harry".

His last match as our manager was in the 1-0 home defeat against Gillingham in January 1981

I'm getting on, JP Wolstinhlm ;)

John Harris 1959 but I don't remember him until 2nd time around and that was vague. First one I really recall was Ken Furphey.

Jimmy squirrel did my head in, the highlight of the Monday morning drive to work was a footy report and an interview with both pigs and Blades managers but I could never tell a bloody word he was saying

Bassett, 2-0 home win against Liverpool, Deano with both, with one 40 yard chip.

Was stood on the old kop corner. Remember getting picked up by my uncle (parents weren't into football) and flying about in the back of his van with my cousins every time he took a corner. Lol.

2nd game was Man Utd first game of season of prem.

Got lucky I think... Or false dawns haha

Martin Peters. Not sure who the first match was against tbh, but the Walsall match is the one that stays in the memory.
Porterfield was the manager for my first full season.

Just look at that tooth. It looks like someone kicked his old one out and after a quick search, they pulled a tombstone out of Hutcliffe Wood and knocked it into the socket. Poor, ugly fucker.

pommpey

Had some programs from those days, Jimmy Sirrells photo was black and white on the managers notes page, and in each one I felt tipped THAT tooth a different colour :D

Am I the first to say Steve Bruce?

98/99 Blades 3 Crewe 1

I ate too many sweets during the game and threw up over some poor sods doorstep on John Street on the way out
